September 13, 2004 - According to Amazon.com, the Aladdin 2-pack coming January 18, 2005 will house both direct-to-video sequels The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves. SRP is just $34.99, and this set is now available for pre-order. Disney has not formally announced this set, but they did confirm that Special Editions for both sequels would be coming in 2005.

We have yet another DVD review of last week's major catalogue releases. Today's looks at Third Man on the Mountain, Walt's critically-acclaimed adventure that was released to theaters in 1959. The film stars James MacArthur, Michael Rennie, and Janet Munro.

September 12, 2004 - In our latest DVD review, we look at Tex, a surprisingly mature drama starring Matt Dillon and adapted from S.E. Hinton's best-selling novel.
Five animated Disney DVDs with temporary price reductions are on sale at Amazon.com, for $14.99 to $17.99: Pocahontas, Lilo & Stitch, the underappreciated Oliver & Company and 2003's direct-to-video releases Atlantis: Milo's Return and Stitch! The Movie. The same five DVDs are just $12.99 at BestBuy.com, with a chance to save an additional $5 when you buy Home on the Range. Keep in mind that double-disc re-releases of Pocahontas and Lilo & Stitch are on the slate for 2005.
September 11, 2004 - National Treasure, a Jerry Bruckheimer-produced adventure which comes to theaters in November, appears to be under the Walt Disney Pictures heading now. As such, we've added this film to the Disney Films Coming to Theaters page, with some pictures, and a link to the trailer. Seems like unusual fare to release as Disney, not Touchstone, but we'll have to see if that changes.
September 10, 2004 - Nearly fifty years have passed since Walt Disney's adventures of Davy Crockett first aired, and yet the legendary tales surrounding the 19th century pioneer and statesman remain sharp and appealing. Our latest DVD review covers this week's new release, the Davy Crockett: Two Movie Set, which contains both feature films Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier (1955) and Davy Crockett and the River Pirates (1956), plus the 1954 Chip 'n' Dale cartoon short "The Lone Chipmunks."
September 9, 2004 - Long missing Disney television movies of yesteryear are starting to come to DVD. This week saw the releases of Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates and The Christmas Star. We've reviewed the latter, and this 1986 holiday family film starring Ed Asner makes a pretty noteworthy DVD debut.

In addition, we've gotten some news about the second wave of Disney Princess DVDs, coming February 15. Whereas Disney Princess Party: Volume 1 tackled the birthday celebration, Volume 2 takes on the Pajama Party. Meanwhile, Disney Princess Stories: Volume 2 has been given the subtitle "Tales of Friendship", and from the artwork, I'm expecting a new short featuring Snow White, in addition to recycled TV episodes featuring Ariel and Jasmine. September 1, 2004 - Our latest DVD review covers Disney's 44th animated classic, Home on the Range, which hits stores in two weeks. It does so with an audio commentary, not mentioned in the press release or even on the package itself.
We've just updated the Walt Disney Treasures Wave 4 press release with Leonard Maltin's liner notes and complete listings of the contents and bonus features from all three of this December's volumes.
Some specs have come in for Eloise at Christmastime, coming to DVD on November 16. This Wonderful World of Disney telemovie will be presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1. Bonus features will include "The Making of Eloise at Christmastime" and "Kay Thompson: Creator of Eloise" featurettes.
