August 30, 2004 - We've just posted the press release for the highly-anticipated DVD debut of Bambi. This 2-Disc Platinum Edition arrives March 1, with many bonus features including never-before-seen deleted sequences, a Disney Time Capsule featurette, and "Inside Walt's Story Meetings." You can now pre-order Bambi: Platinum Edition, plus next February's direct-to-video sequel Mulan II (first look at cover art below) for 30% off from Amazon.com.

December 7 will bring more TV on DVD content, in the form of single disc volumes of the Disney Channel series "Kim Possible" (Kim Possible: The Villain Files) and "That's So Raven" (That's So Raven: Supernaturally Stylish). Each disc's SRP is $19.99. (Disney TV Shows)
Also, while the release of the first wave of the Disney Princess Collection is still eight days away, dates have already been scheduled for Wave Two. Arriving on February 15th are Disney Princess Stories, Volume 2 and Disney Princess Party, Volume 2. We hope to have more details on these, as well as something called Aladdin 1 & 2 Collection, a 2-disc set due on January 18th. For now, all are 30% off on Amazon.com, if you'd like to pre-order while the discounting's as good as it gets.
The August 2004 issue of DVD Exclusive includes a special section on the 10th anniversary of Disney's direct-to-video films, which have become an unprecedented financial success for the studio. One of the articles mentions that the two direct-to-video Aladdin sequels (Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves) will be coming to DVD next year as Special Editions. August 28, 2004 - We have added a DVD review of next month's new release of One Little Indian, Disney's 1973 western adventure starring James Garner.
In addition, our International Exclusives list has been updated with the Region 2 DVD release of $1,000,000 Duck, a 1971 Dean Jones comedy.
August 27, 2004 - Our latest in-depth DVD review covers Disney's own release of their affecting 1983 drama Never Cry Wolf.
A few details have come in about November 2nd's re-release of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The 3-disc Gift Set will include the existing 2-disc Collector's Edition plus "The Lost Disc", a third disc featuring 8 never-before-seen bonus features running a total of 69 minutes. Carrying the same $29.99 Suggested Retail Price that the 2-disc set did, the new DVD sounds enticing to those few people who haven't already bought the film on DVD. Yesterday's USA Today mentioned that Bambi's Platinum Edition is now coming on March 1, a week earlier than we were expecting. Disney home video executive Gordon Ho praises the digitally restored transfer, and speaks of "Walt's Annotated Bambi", a bonus feature taking you through the film's production in the words of Walt Disney himself. August 26, 2004 - Disney has released three photos of the effervescent Clay Aiken recording the "Proud of Your Boy" music video under the supervision of Aladdin filmmakers Alan Menken, Ron Clements, and John Musker. August 20, 2004 - We have a new DVD review up early today, of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride - 2-Disc Special Edition.
We've updated our Coming to Theaters page, adding write-ups and pictures for Pooh's Heffalump Movie (coming next February) and Sky High, a superhero film starring Kurt Russell and Bruce Campbell that's due in theaters in the fall of 2005.

August 18, 2004 - Amazon.com now has the three new Buena Vista television box sets coming in November up for pre-order at the 30% discount that doesn't always last very long: The Golden Girls: Season 1, Home Improvement: Season 1, and Boy Meets World: Season 2. In addition, December 7th's 2-disc release of Gargoyles: Season 1 is also discounted for pre-order at just $20.99.
Furthermore, the rumored-but-unannounced "Lizzie McGuire" boxset is up for pre-order at 30% off. Details are sparse on this 4-disc set, but SRP is $49.99 and release date is November 23. It's believed to be the Complete First Season of the Disney Channel show, but until a press release is issued, we won't know for sure.

August 17, 2004 - Our report last May about more Buena Vista TV shows is officially confirmed by Buena Vista today, in a new press release, announcing DVD releases of the first seasons of "Home Improvement" and "The Golden Girls", as well as the second season of "Boy Meets World." Each box set will contain audio commentaries (with "Boy Meets World" wisely utilizing picture-in-picture video for its commentaries) and carry a $49.99 SRP. The release date has been bumped up to November 23.

Unfortunately, it appears that Tiger Town, the Disney Channel's first telemovie, has been pulled from the September 7 slate, for no stated reason. It's no longer on the upcoming release calendar at all, and we're not sure why, but we are disappointed.
Our latest DVD review is of the latest direct-to-video Winnie the Pooh film, Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo.
August 16, 2004 - A Wrinkle in Time, Disney's made-for-TV adaptation of the popular book by Madeleine L'Engle which finally aired last spring, is coming to DVD on November 16, with a $24.99 SRP. Amazon has the DVD up for pre-order at 30% off. Bonus features are expected to include an audio commentary with Madeleine L'Engle, deleted scenes, trailers, and a game.
