August 12, 2004 - If you have managed to shun The Lion King Platinum Edition and last February's 2-disc release of The Lion King 1½, and are willing to hold off on the upcoming Lion King II: Simba's Pride Special Edition, then The Lion King Trilogy Gift Set, coming December 7 and carrying a $69.99 SRP, is for you. It's not clear what, beyond a box, will be exclusive to this set, as the six discs will be identical to the already released Special Editions. All three films will be going out of print in 2005. The Lion King Trilogy Gift Set is now up for pre-order for 30% off at Amazon.com.

August 11, 2004 - There's another new press release for another highly anticipated DVD release coming this December: Mary Poppins: 40th Anniversary Edition. Highlights of this 2-disc set include an audio commentary with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, Karen Dotrice, and co-composer Richard Sherman, a 50-minute making-of documentary, a deleted song, and a new animated short based on another tale by P.L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins.
August 10, 2004 - Here is the press release you've been waiting for: Walt Disney Treasures: Wave 4, with details on the Mickey Mouse Club (Week One), Mickey Mouse in Black & White (Volume 2), and Complete Pluto (Volume 1) sets.
There's newly revised cover art for Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas. We also just added cover art for the last of 15 Disney DVDs coming out September 7: The Christmas Star.

August 9, 2004 - Just in is our first look at the covers from the Wave 4 Treasures, plus a larger look at temporary artwork for Mary Poppins: 40th Anniversary, now officially slated for December 14.
Press releases and details still to come for these, although we have some stills from the new Walt Disney Treasures. We're also looking forward to a press release for America's Heart and Soul, Disney's documentary which has been announced for a November 2nd release.

August 7, 2004 - We have an exciting new DVD review of the upcoming direct-to-video feature film Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers.
A DVD review many have been waiting for is here and it's positive: Darby O'Gill and the Little People.
At "The Gathering", an annual convention for fans, "The Gargoyles" creator Greg Weisman announced that the highly-anticipated Season 1 DVD set will contain two discs, and will be relesaed on December 7 with a $29.99 SRP. The set will contain the first 13 episodes of this Disney animated series, and bonus features are expected to include commentaries for each episode, conceptual artwork, crew interviews, and a featurette on "The Gathering." We'll have more details as they come in.
We've got a little update on the "Boy Meets World" bonus features. The bonus episode mentioned in the press release is apparently the season four episode "Hair Today, Goon Tomorrow." The latest information from Disney shows this and the audio commentaries by cast and crew as the only extra features. The "Yesterday and Today" featurette and "Outtakes & Bloopers" which were previously announced will unfortunately not be included. We hope to have a thorough review of this highly-anticipated 3-disc set in the near future.

August 4, 2004 - Extras have been announced for The Island at the Top of the World: 30th Anniversary Edition. The film will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital Mono. Bonus features will include a 1974 behind-the-scenes featurette, special effects camera dailies, a pre-production trailer from 1968, and original trailers and TV spots. Release date is September 7, SRP is $19.99, and a French track will be included.

August 2, 2004 - Well, here's more proof that there will be just three sets in this December's wave of Walt Disney Treasures. Amazon.com now has three sets up for pre-order: The Complete Pluto, Volume 1, Mickey Mouse in Black & White, Volume 2, and The Mickey Mouse Club. Each set is discounted 30% from the $32.99 retail price, and release date is December 7, as usual the first Tuesday of December. More details as they come in.
Also newly available for pre-order is Disney's IMAX film, The Young Black Stallion, due December 21.
