December 21, 2003 - The Different Types of Disney DVD Releases page has been updated.
December 20, 2003 - We're finally starting to hear details on February's catalogue slate. The good news is that Return to Oz (pre-order) will be widescreen and apparently will include everything that the now out-of-print Anchor Bay DVD, except for the Fullscreen transfer. Those Calloways (pre-order) will be presented in its original 1.66:1 widescreen ratio. Follow Me, Boys! will contain a featurette "Looking Back with Lem's Boys" and a gallery, but will be presented in Fullscreen only, seemingly not its original ratio. The three made-for-television movies that make their DVD debut will all be properly presented in 1.33:1 original fullscreen ratios and Dolby Surround tracks, and Selma, Lord, Selma is accompanied by featurette called "A Bridge to Freedom." No word yet on specifications for Misadventures of Merlin Jones, Bon Voyage! or Midnight Madness, yet. Check out the full upcoming Disney release schedule or a closer look at February's catalogue release slate.
December 18, 2003 - After three weeks of voting, and three weeks of counting down, our 2003 Top Animated Classics Countdown comes to a close today with the #1 ranked film. In case it's not already crystal clear, it is Beauty and the Beast that sits atop the list of site visitors' 20 most beloved Disney animated classics. Thanks to all who voted, to all who wrote comments about what the films meant to them, and to all who checked in each day as we counted down. This was a lot of fun, I think, and next month, we'll begin polling for our next countdown, tackling Disney's canon of live action films. Without any further ado, here is the write-up for the only animated film to receive a Best Picture Oscar nomination and the clear first-place winner by a margin of over 140 points in our poll. (#1)
December 17, 2003 - In a move that was way overdue, the Disney Television Movies section has now been separated into three sections - 1991 - Present, 1980-1990, and 1954-1979. The lists from 1980 to present are as close to complete as they've ever been, and all movies which are still available on video now contain links to buy. Even if the TV movies made in 1990 or earlier aren't as likely to see the light of DVD, all the pages will be updated whenever there's developing news on potential DVD releases.

Disney's 44th animated classic, Home on the Range, is still a few months away from theatrical release, and so is the Home on the Range: Little Patch of Heaven Sing Along Songs DVD, which was just officially announced today. The DVD features Alan Menken songs from the upcoming Disney movie, set to clips of Home on the Range as well as other animated Disney films. Check out the press release or pre-order from Amazon.
Some people are satisfied with gadgets and gizmos aplenty, and some people want more. The heroine of the second-ranked film in our Animated Classic Countdown falls into the latter class. Some may view the film as the historically significant re-establishment of Disney animation as transcendent art. Others just admire the beautiful underwater and coastal animation and the infectious melodies. Either way, it's tough not to love this one. (#2)
December 16, 2003 - And four more covers from February's catalogue slate. From left to right, Bon Voyage!, Follow Me, Boys, The Misadventures of Merlin Jones starring Tommy Kirk and Annette Funicello, and the campus comedy classic Midnight Madness. Full-sized pictures in Upcoming Cover Art.

Just added cover art for some of February's catalogue releases - Return to Oz, Those Calloways, and Perfect Harmony. Still no words as to the contents of these discs yet. Check out Upcoming Cover Art for full-sized images.

Our Animated Classics Countdown continues to wind down with today's featured film. Taking third-place is this irresistible adventure, which succeeds with laughs and music, and has been striking chords with audiences for over a decade. Those anticipating a DVD will finally have their wish granted next fall. (#3)
