March 27, 2004 - With Major League Baseball's Opening Day next week, what better time for a couple of baseball-themed reviews. Our review of Angels in the Outfield, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this summer, has been reformatted. But even better, we have the first reviews of the upcoming DVD debuts of its two made-for-TV sequels: Angels in the Endzone and Angels in the Infield.
Here is out first look at disc artwork for Miracle, which is released May 18 (pre-order):
Cover artwork for Kurt Russell's The Strongest Man in the World has been added to Upcoming Cover Art.
A reminder that Wednesday night is your last chance to enter our "Caption This" contest to try and win the Disney DVD of your choice. We've gotten just 16 valid entries, so your chances of winning (if you qualify) aren't too bad at all.
We now have a total of 96 DVD reviews, and we hope to cross the 100 mark early next week.
March 26, 2004 - Those of you with multi-region playing capabilities won't have to wait until 2005 to own the two-disc Pocahontas Special Edition. A region 2 set is being released in the United Kingdom on June 7. You can now pre-order this from Amazon.co.uk. Bonus features include "The Making of Pocahontas", Early Presentation Reel with Introduction and Commentary, Storyboard-to-Film Comparison with Introduction and Commentary, Unused song "If I Never Knew You", Deleted Scenes, Animation Tests, Character Animation Featurettes, Production Progression Reel, Music Featurette, Multi-Language Clip Reel, "Colors of the Wind" and "If I Never Knew You" Music Videos, and Sing Alongs of "Just Around the River Bend" and "Colors of the Wind."
March 25, 2004 - We've got a massive review of Tuesday's 2-disc Brother Bear DVD for you!

March 24, 2004 - For the time being anyway, the 2-disc Mary Poppins re-release coming later this year, is being called "40th Anniversary Edition." Above is a first look at the tentative cover art. New cover art for Flight of the Navigator (thumbnail above), A Far Off Place, and A Saintly Switch can also now be found in Upcoming Cover Art.
Aspect ratio has come in on the last two unknown May catalogue releases. The Strongest Man in the World will oddly be fullscreen, even though the movie it follows will be released in widescreen. The Great Locomotive Chase will fortunately be presented in 2.35:1 widescreen. Still no word on anamorphic enhancement, so it's not quite safe to draw obvious conclusions. Upcoming Release Schedule has been updated.
March 23, 2004 - Home on the Range: Little Patch of Heaven Sing Along Songs is released today. (press release / screencaps / purchase from amazon.com)
Two more animated classics are profiled in today's new DVD reviews: The Black Cauldron and Hercules.
March 21, 2004 - In our latest review, Jack Seiley covers Davy Crockett: The Complete Televised Series from the first wave of Walt Disney Treasures.
March 20, 2004 - Teacher's Pet is coming to DVD on June 15. Read the press release. The film will be presented in 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen and both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS tracks. Bonus features include deleted scenes, a Christy Carlson "Teacher's Pet" music video, the premiere episode of the TV show, a documentary on "The Art of Gary Baseman", and a song selection feature.
From the materials that Disney has released on their upcoming catalogue releases, it appears that Son of Flubber, Herbie Rides Again, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, and Herbie Goes to Bananas will be presented in fullscreen on DVD. Now You See Him, Now You Don't (starring Kurt Russell) and the soccer comedy The Big Green will preserve their 1.85:1 original widescreen aspect ratios. No aspect ratio information has been given about The Strongest Man in the World or The Great Locomotive Chase from the rest of the April and May catalogue releases. And of course, made-for-TV films Angels in the Infield, Angels in the Endzone, and Miracle in Lane 2 will all contain 1.33:1 presentations, matching the original broadcast ratios. Upcoming Release Schedule for more details.
March 18, 2004 - We've updated our Walt Disney Treasures page with shorts listings for Wave 3's releases, coming in exactly two months.
Our 90th DVD review, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, has now been posted.
