I'd have to say "Pinocchio", with the whole Pleasure Island sequence, not to mention that the none of the villains are defeated (well, they escape Monstro). The coachmen still gets away with doing what he does to the boys. I think the early Disney films are the darkest, although "The ...

Oh yeah, I have some Disney VHS tapes like that. Around 1999, I think, or maybe 1998 they started doing that. It is kind of odd, since they were doing the ink labels for a while. Then they went over to the black labels with the white ink. I always wondered why they were plastered over Disney VHS tap...

Aladdin did not rip off The Thief . Yes some elements are similar blah blah blah. They're both set in Arabia, and both feature a sultan, a grand vizier and a princess. That's about as close as they get. I'm much more disturbed with the Lion King/Kimba and Atlantis/Nadia controversies. I'm not sure ...

Disney will most likely do everything it can to suppress Thief & The Cobbler as long as they can. Many animators who worked on the film over a period of several years eventually moved to Disney and brought many of their ideas and sketches with them. Some of these were incorporated into Aladdin....

"The Thief and the Cobbler" Restoration Question

I know it isn't a Disney film, but a while ago, Roy Disney was very interested in working on a high quality restoration of Richard Williams' "The Thief and the Cobbler", but the project fell through, I think in 2003. I do know that this film took over 20 years to produce, as Richard Willia...

Well, technically Dumbo's 70th is next year. Meanwhile, I'm calling it import! And Fantasia at Christmas!? What ARE THEY THINKING!? The Diamonds are SUPPOSED to be SEMI_ANNUAL not just ANNUAL. Well, there's that rumor of Alice that's still floating around. :x :x :x You're right, but this confuses m...

Wait, so the US is the only country not getting Dumbo this year? WTF are they thinking? Also, why is Fantasia delayed until December? The only reasons I want to hear is they're making it uncut and still working on the restoration. Any other excuse is unacceptable. The only Disney titles I plan on b...

I am so disappointed. I was anticipating this release, big time. What the heck is going on with Disney?

It's about time! And I hope "Up" wins the Oscar. That will make me very happy. And maybe it can end this whole "animation is for kids" thing. I'm already seeing complaints like "It doesn't deserve it, it's animated". It better win, we need to have an animated film as a ...

My snobbery isn't listed. I try to like as much as I can. I love the Walt films. A lot of the post-Walt films are great. I love the classic Walt Disney films and have nothing but great praise for them. I also really like the post-Walt films. I love a majority of the 90s renaissance films. I also lik...

The cover artwork is OK for me, although I would've liked to seen a cover with all of the characters on it (Like the "Cars" theatrical poster), and have Woody, Buzz, Jessie and Bullseyes in the front.

I love how pitiful some of these rip-offs are. I mean, that Princess Set thing is the worst offender. The words "Play Set" are in a Disney-style font, trying to get an unweary buyer to buy it, thinking it's a Disney product. That happens sometimes. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0487010/ = C...

I think the new cover is just okay. I personally prefer the original 1992 VHS cover, maybe because it shows Ratigan. The same thing with the original 1998 VHS of "The Black Cauldron", which shows the Horned King, unlike the 2000 DVD.

I'm not too crazy about that title either.

A Quick Question about the 80s Disney video releases

On a lot of the Disney videos released in the 1980s (and even into the early 1990s), the Buena Vista logo is always cut from the beginning of the film (Same thing with the RKO logo, which was always replaced by the Buena Vista logo on post-1953 theatrical re-issues). I was wondering why that is. Eve...

"The Aristocats" is a delight to watch. I know it's considered to be one of the worst Disney animated classics, but I really like it. I think it's because when I was a kid, I always watched the VHS with my grandfather. Good times. Looking at it now, I don't consider it a masterpiece of sto...

I'm already doing the Blus. I want the Black Diamond collection because that's a huge piece of Disney history. It sure is indeed.
