What Type of Disney Snob Are You?

My snobbery isn't listed.
I try to like as much as I can. I love the Walt films. A lot of the post-Walt films are great. I love the classic Walt Disney films and have nothing but great praise for them. I also really like the post-Walt films. I love a majority of the 90s renaissance films. I also like Disney films like "Robin Hood", "The Great Mouse Detective" and "Brother Bear" (I consider them underrated).
What I don't like is the current stuff on the Disney Channel, not my cup of tea at all. I like Disney films that aren't well-liked by critics ("Brother Bear" has a 34% Rotten on RT, which startles me) and I have an appreciation for the Disney live-action flicks of the 50s and 60s. I love Pixar, every film they have done.
Not sure what I'd call that. I'm the type of Disney fan who gets extremely defensive when someone calls Disney (or animated films) "kid's stuff". I'm also the kind of fan who will never understand a Disney-hater.

Sorry, but that point is actually moot now, due to the fact that Disney bought Pixar. Therefore, Pixar truly IS Disney now.IagoZazu wrote:II appreciate traditional animation much more than CGI. As was said earlier, hand-drawn animation has the kind of soul and feel that CGI never has. I also like animation more than live-action. Only the Pixar movies manage to make emotions, but even now I'm starting not to like Pixar as much as I used to. I don't hate or dislike them, but because they're a separate studio that has been taking Disney's spotlight over the years, it makes me feel bitter that Pixar is becoming the new Disney that everyone looks up to and adores just like what people did with the old Disney. I'm not cutting them down, but they are not the only ones with talent.
We should all be very grateful to Pixar, since the people from that studio are now the head honchos at Walt Disney Animation Studios and are thus putting Disney animated films back on track.
And without them, we would not be enjoying the current comeback of high-quality 2D animated films.

I'm a "I don't have any opinions about anything, so please don't blast me for it" snob. Okay, not really, but being here definitely can make one think twice about expressing an opinion.
"I can find appreciation in everything that the Disney company has done, and I don't hold anything higher or lower than anything else. I judge everything on its own merits, not comparing it to something else. The snobbery in all this comes from the fact that I love to proclaim it to the world, that I'll accept and understand everything Disney does, even if I have my own personal dislikes."
This part of the "Everything snob" describes me. And based on what I've read here, I think there should be another category, "Pixar makes great movies--get over it!" snobbery. I mean seriously, do people think Toy Story 3 made a billion dollars because people didn't like it?

I'm a snob about changing things. I hate when an old ride or show that I enjoyed, and my dad enjoyed, and HIS dad enjoyed at one of the parks is suddenly revamped into a stupid "Zazu vs Iago arguing pettily the whole time" show.
Really, the Tiki Tiki Room was my very favorite place in Disneyworld, and now it is ruined. Utterly ruined. You should have seen my smile drop when those dumb birds cut the Tiki song short.
I was so disappointed.
I hear that Disneyland might still have an intact Tiki Room? I hope?

Ouch. Did most of the song get sung at least? I remember the Tiki Tiki Room was one of our stops when my family and I went to Disneyland last time (I was 11 or 12 so 1996 or 1997). It was pretty fun. I can't imagine Zazu and Iago spoiling the show. We moved all the way to Maine later that same year so I don't know when I'll get to go back to Disneyland.Rapunzel wrote:I'm a snob about changing things. I think I'm snob about things changing too. And a anti-censorship snob. And a I'm-tired-of-seeing-Toy-Story-characters-in-the-toy-section-of-big-name-stores-year-round-and-wish-they-were-cycled-often-with-characters-from-other-Pixar-films snob.

Lol I hate labels for the most part I most categorize myself as a "The Old Is Better Snob!"
Granted there have been some recent productions that have been wonderful but I think for the most part the best Disney productions were the older ones. I mean all these remakes the Tim Allen Shaggy Dog PLEASE!, if you want a cute movie for the family put the Fred MacMurray original Shaggy Dog on your Netflix Que it is truly the best version ever I mean the cast you can't beat it, the storyline you can't beat it, and the kids Tommy Kirk/Kevin "Moochie" Corcoran/Annette Funicello they don't make young actors like that anymore. Same goes for such as the recent Race to Witch Mountain Granted I was more of a fan of Return From Witch Mountain then Escape to Witch Mountain but Kim Richards/Ike Eisenmann were so adorable and the acting was superb. The new one besides the cameo by Richards/Eisenmann was just blaw.

And things have just gotten more aggrivating with the Florida version seeing as despite a fire completely ruining the Iago animatronic, they aren't going to bother changing the show, just ordering a new Iago and continuing a godawful dated piece of crap that was old the moment it debuted. Even though it'd be a good opportunity for the 40th to restore the classic show, TDO is not biting.

Hmmm... There should be a blend of everything snob! I'm a mix of a lot of them. The Everything Snob, the Traditional Snob. I hate it when Disney changes lyrics or lines to make them more kid friendly, such as Ratcliffe's line in Pocahontas. And I'm also the stop-making-crappy-Disney-princess-merchandise-because-you-are-cheapening-the-films snob.
I fall closest to the Princess Snob category, although it's more like "Human Characters" snobbery....I just prefer movies with humans over those with animals as the protagonists/etc, like 101 Dalmations.
And no lie, I watched Newsies BEFORE I knew CBale was in it....and I don't find Depp or Bloom very attractive!

Ugh, I didn't know about the fire, but I really really wish they had restore the Tiki Room.FigmentJedi wrote:Disneyland still has the original.Rapunzel wrote:I'm a snob about changing things. Then again, they may have just decided to do away with it too. Several other rides and shows are gone gone gone.

Re: What Type of Disney Snob Are You?
I'm the type of Disney snob who rolls her eyes at other's peoples obsession with certain Disney things while shitting on others ("Tangled is sooooo much better than any of that old crap like Pinocchio or Cinderella- no, wait, Cinderella is good because it stars a princess, like Tangled, and so it doesn't promote female erasure, like that sh*t of Pinocchio!") or laughs her butt off at those people who whine "oooh this year i couldn't have my third visit to disneyworld like all previous years!"- oh yeah.
Another way to get me moody would be to claim "oh Mickey and the Gang have no personality at all! They're just mascot icons! Thank goodness we have Simba/Ariel/Rapunzel/whatever who's a TRUE character!"-

I think there is a lot of that going on around here!
