It is exactly like the other releases, the digibook.

Re: The Legacy Collection

My copy came in the mail today and unfortunately, I must report that there is no difference in the physical release. "And He Shall Smite the Wicked" is still missing its ending.

I think it's true that both films borrow a lot of elements from Disney movies of the past. I just think PatF was a lot more 'in your face' about it. It felt louder, it felt like it was screaming to the audience: "this is a 1990's musical!". It's hard to put my finger on exactly why that i...

I have often read that 52 episodes is a magic number for TV episodes because once you have hit that milestone, your show hits a sweet spot for syndication because, assuming that you are running the show 5 days a week, the show will get to run itself through 5 times in the course of the year. On a pe...

I do believe that Disney films can be analyzed critically although I do recognize that there are probably many who attempt to do so but do it badly. While I admit that I have never looked for any critical analysis of Disney in the scholarly literature, I do know that the influential Soviet filmmaker...

I voted for both. Ignoring the "performance" of the film and the musical for now, I was initially inclined to given an edge to the musical. I like the extensions Julie Taymor made to the story. I do like the additional music in the musical even if Elton John's new songs, especially "T...

I know I'm probably alone in this, but I have to confess that my interest in picking up the Snow White Blu-Ray today has slightly less to do with the movie itself as much as the few Silly Symphonies cartoons included in full HD. "The Skeleton Dance" and "The Old Mill" defined my ...

I have the LD and the DVD and I can confirm that both versions of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" were on the laserdisk. I can only imagine that they only picked the Timon and Puumba version for the DVD since little kids are likely to laugh at that.

If you can find a copy for a good price, I say go for it. With regards to the censorship of the film, we will never be sure until we see a new DVD edition whether or not this bit will finally be uncensored. With regards to the new narration, considering what I agree would be a jarring thing to trans...

I think its wrong to say Disney didn't put any time or effort into making the Lion King DVD. They obviously did. It's just that the spectacularly mis-judged what people wanted. Or perhaps they didn't. Perhaps they just mis-judged what fans wanted? It still sold pretty well and (one the whole) go am...

Tarzan is very well casted and although I do feel that the new songs are for the most part inferior to the original songs (although I really like "Who Better Than Me"), I did enjoy them (well except for "No Other Way" and "Sure As Sun Turns to Moon"). I just had a real...

I'm going to agree with The Lion King as the worst Platinum Edition. I don't mind the reuse of the commentary from the LD considering that it was a pretty good commentary. What bothered me was that they reglected to include the documentary on the film's making from the LD, tons of bonus material on ...

As excited as I am about The Little Mermaid musical, I am still worried about how it will turn out. I am feeling extremely lukewarm about Mary Poppins after listening to the London Cast Recording, whose arrangements and new material both seem pretty weak compared to the original's. In addition, I wa...

I found Cars a rather enjoyable movie and I care not for racing, the Midwest, etc. As for the slow middle act that many have been complaining about, I found it rather enjoyable. Has the entire world converted over to an MTV ADD attention span all of a sudden? Is it so difficult for adults and kids t...

I guess what just drives me up a wall is when people praise the film for being the best of the sequels. Not counting the theatrical sequel The Rescuers Down Under, I just think that the other sequels have been of such downright dismal quality that at this point, it's hard not to be either the best o...

Anyway, DefyGravity has an excellent point; Disney puts effort into their DVDs, it's just that they're putting their effort into the wrong stuff. Most children today wouldn't be able to even sit through the original Bambi once without the good ol' ADD kicking in (I know I couldn't when I was little...

The dream with Bambi's mother giving sage advice is a mix of The Lion King and The Land Before Time - she even says "I'm always with you - even if you can't see me" almost exactly like Littlefoot's dying mother...! *twitch* And of course, the prince has been stripped of any and all dignit...

Oh of course, the movie is the important part. It's just that it's really sad to think that Disney along with Criterion pretty much blew away the competition back in the laserdisc age with its special features. The bonus material that The Lion King and Pocahontas laser disc box sets had would put th...
