i got it last night at my wal-mart for $16.99. i also watched it last night and i was pretty much amazed.

The animation was done very very well, and i agree that it most likely has the best animation of any disney sequel out there. However, some of the characters did look too simple. the porqupine being my biggest pet-peeve. not great character design there. but then again, this happens at least once with some character in every disney film. at least that's my opinion.

The story was excelent i thought. it fits in very well with the original storyline. i don't see how anyone could honestly say that this is not one of the best disney sequels ever storywise.

Overall a great film and deffinately worth picking up b4 it retreats into the vault in 70 days!

Yeah it was hella good! The only thing disappointing was that I thought it was a little to brief. But I'm sure they're going to make another sequel.

Yep Zol I feel ya, I didn't want it to end either :D It was like a walk in nature again, and again, I felt sucked into the story and the characters (Just like the first one)..but as many dvd's as there have been flying off the shelf, I'm sure the announcement for Bambi's Children shouldn't be far off :D

I wish that Disney hear you, of course if they do a movie of the same or even more quality than this sequel

It's funny too because its a few minutes longer than the original and yet the original seems longer. Any thought of why that might be cuz I'm trying to figure that out but... nothing.

They should of had the zombie dogs from Resident Evil. That would of been so kewl! You think regular dogs are tough, try genetically altered dogs.

I kind of feel sorry for Ronno because all of these bad things happen to him. But I guess that's what you get for being an arrogant show off. He's not really smart is he. I mean anyone who runs really hard into a tree can't be really smart. He kind of reminds me of Nelson from The Simpsons. :)

And I don't know about you guys but did it seem that Bambi got over his mothers death faster than GP. I guess GP like to bottle his emotions inside. Oh yeah and in the beginning he says "come" instead of "come my son" which is what he originally said. I was like what kind of crap is this... :P

No, I really enjoyed it and I would like to see another follow up story. But the music... something needs to be done with that. In the next sequel they need Led Zeppelin. Yeah!!! ;)

The music in this one actually swept me away as well (the music music)..it was a nice pace and very intriging. Like I said though "There is life" is a beautiful song with a nice feeling to it (sort of like Love is a song)...

Well I'm not saying that the music was horrible, it adapted well to the movie. But being a classic hard rock kind of guy; I want Zeppelin... Zeppelin!!!! Or Van Halen!!! Wooooo!!! I also like Korn but I doubt they'll put there songs in a G rated film. ;)

I wasn't too sure on how to react when they used the original score for the movie. I guess it tied it in very well, I mean not only did they use the music from the original but they did some other stuff as well which pleased me.

What I really like was that they kept the singing to a minimum. Thank you Friend Owl!!! Actually it was Ronno. Thank you Ronno!!! :D

Oh and I was right to with that picture of the porcupine and saying that he was going to start some serious s*it. Y'all know what I'm talking about in the ending.

All in all, great movie!!! It was more than I expected.

Now, I don't know why but I have the craving to shoot my gun. Luckily my friend wants to go to the shooting range on Friday. He's bringing 7 guns!!! Plus the 3 that I have for a total of 10 guns and we're putting them all into my little car? That and we're taking about 2000 rounds of ammunition. We are packing dude!!! It's a little hobby that we share. ;)

BTW- I'm loving all of these Bambi avatars, I'm going to stick with mine now to sort of commemorate the original.

Wow I want a little book.
You know what I really dislike about the slip cover. The damn hole in it to show the UPC on the DVD case. On Bambi PE they put the UPC on the slip cover which was fine. I don't know why they set it up that way but it's stupid. Who the hell wants a hole through their slip cover???

You know what would of been cool is if they did it like the Resident Evil: Apocalypse SE slip cover. The cover is clear with graphics on it. Then they have graphics on the DVD case itself and it makes the image on the slip cover pop out. It's awesome!

I do like the graphics on the Bambi II slip cover, the DVD case and the DVD itself. You can tell they went to great lengths to come up with that.

I read an online news story that people are taking the slip covers off of the discounted bin DVDs and putting them over the newer more expensive DVDs. You can't tell then easily what movie is actually inside the slipcover. Most companies are putting the hole now so when the cashier rings up the DVD they can tell if it's not the right DVD.

I picked up Bambi II and was pleasently surprised. It was a very well made movie and could have done well in the box office

Haha, the fundamental flaw in slip covers. They should sell them like they do at Sams Club where the whole DVD + Slipcover is encased in plastic. That way people don't mess around with that stuff. I mean I have to watch out for books because people like to do that with books. Not movies thought we secure them and video games pretty good. According to our manager the #1 reason why the company loses money is because people do that kind of crap. I don't care really they make $300 thousand a day, I'm just in it for the money.

Easter Egg

Post by Stinky Pete »

I picked mine at Wal-Mart for $14.98. I like the easter egg on the main menu that allows you to change the menu from Winter to Spring. Go to the "Bonus Features" and hit the right directional button. A snowflake or leaf will appear. Click and the season changes.
...and so you two are absolutely identical? You know I'm sure I can get you a part in Toy Story 3... I'm sorry. Are we back? All right girls...lovely talking to you.

Paka wrote:But whatever. Of course, as I thought would occur, more scenes and concepts are lifted directly from the first film. The trivia track even points them out sometimes... "Remember how this-and-that happened in the first film?" Probably the most outrageous example is when Ronno and Bambi have a fight at the end that's exactly like the dramatic battle from Bambi. The trivia track even says "This fight is virtually a shot-for-shot duplicate of their adult fight in the first movie." Gee, thanks for pointing that out. So that's impressive... how? e_e
I dont think you recognized yet that the reason why Bambi and Ronno's fight scene was similar to the one in the original Bambi was because the rogue dear in the original Bambi is the adult Ronno. In the Behind Walt's Story Meetings version of the original Bambi DVD you will hear Walt and the writers referring to the rogue dear as Ronno. There are also other clues such as the chip in young Ronno's ear that tries to hint at how they are in fact the same deer. I think that's they were trying to beat us in the head with with the fight in Bambi II.

As for referring back to the original film, I dont think this film was as bad as Jungle Book 2, which was literally the first film reanimated.

Although most of them arent surprising (I didnt find the Ronno character reference all that surprising). I was suprised that they had Mena yelled the exact last words of Bambi's mother as man was approaching and unless you dont recall every exact line from the original Bambi you wouldnt have caught the emotion on Bambi's face when we heard those words. It's areas like that the film did a good job with. I think the movie couldve been better in some areas both animation/writing wise but theyre just minor spots.

I would like to say even though I really enjoyed this movie; Rescures Down Under is still my favorite sequel. I mean Bambi II was good but Rescures Down Under... awesome! I don't know if I can rate it higher than Toy Story II cuz I only seen TSII once and I thought it was all right. But these are the only sequels that I've watched so I have a real narrow perspective on the whole thing. All I can say is Fox and the Hound II is going to suck! :D

Oh no, toonaspie - I got the reference perfectly well. I've known for forever and a day that the rogue deer in the original is named (unoffically) Ronno, that much is true. My complaint is the severe lifting by the cheapquel of nearly every single scene or characteristic from the original film. It's not impressive. It's entirely uncreative. It gives me a headache. :P

At the very least, I'm glad I didn't give any sort of monetary support to this abomination (ooo! them's fightin' words! ;)). Not a penny spent in order to watch it! ^_^

I guess what just drives me up a wall is when people praise the film for being the best of the sequels. Not counting the theatrical sequel The Rescuers Down Under, I just think that the other sequels have been of such downright dismal quality that at this point, it's hard not to be either the best or among the best in that group. I just fail to see how being the best of the worst suddenly seems to merit so much praise.

I don't know. Despite everything, I still hold Disney's animation to high standards and when it comes to sequels from Disney, I expect something like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, where successive sequels were arguably better than or at least equal to the original as opposed to inferior knockoffs.
