2 days..
Well the wait is nearly over (Wal-mart had a flyer saying they will start selling at 12:01 am on Tuesday, I am excited and can't wait
..I haven't seen the special features yet, but even though I have seen the film already, I can't wait..I think I will watch the original tonight...just to get in the emotional mood (which I love that feeling you get from the original, so it should put me back into the Bambi mood)

Well, having now officially subjected myself to the film, I can indeed say what I've been saying since this thing's "inception" - it's utterly embarassing. No two ways about it. >_<
I think my absolute favorite line from this cheapquel, due to its sheer irony, is when the prince gives his take on Bambi's memories of his mother. "I think it's best to leave the past in the past," he drones. "A prince does not look back - only ahead." That made me laugh out loud. This line, coming from a film that draws purely upon its past success? Heh... wasn't that philosophy Walt's own?
I mean, he once said this about his films... "A movie is different. Once I've wrapped it up and have turned it over to Technicolor to be processed, I'm through with it. As far as I'm concerned the picture I've finished a few weeks ago is done. There may be things I don't like, but if there are I can't do anything about them. I've always wanted to work on something alive, something that keeps growing."
But whatever. Of course, as I thought would occur, more scenes and concepts are lifted directly from the first film. The trivia track even points them out sometimes... "Remember how this-and-that happened in the first film?" Probably the most outrageous example is when Ronno and Bambi have a fight at the end that's exactly like the dramatic battle from Bambi. The trivia track even says "This fight is virtually a shot-for-shot duplicate of their adult fight in the first movie." Gee, thanks for pointing that out. So that's impressive... how? e_e
The "stepmother" tiff concerning Mena has to be seen to be believed. The dream with Bambi's mother giving sage advice is a mix of The Lion King and The Land Before Time - she even says "I'm always with you - even if you can't see me" almost exactly like Littlefoot's dying mother...! *twitch* And of course, the prince has been stripped of any and all dignity he ever had in Bambi.
And don't worry, kids... there's more fart jokes to be had than what you've already seen. -_-
So anyhoo. I gave this film a fair chance, and nothing has changed. Yes, it's a pretty movie, and the animators that worked on it are doubtless quite talented. But as I've said before... a pretty picture does not a good film make.

Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Glad to see that someone else felt The Land Before Time all over that scene.Paka wrote:The dream with Bambi's mother giving sage advice is a mix of The Lion King and The Land Before Time - she even says "I'm always with you - even if you can't see me" almost exactly like Littlefoot's dying mother...! *twitch* And of course, the prince has been stripped of any and all dignity he ever had in Bambi.

100% in agreement with you Paka.
I seriously don't think that you can wait that long... If you do IOU... something.Isidour wrote: I mean...man, at least respect Bambi for God sake!
...anyway I was tempted to buy it, but I´ll better wait to watch it on the theaters

Like I said before if it doesn't turn out the way that I wanted I'll take the DVD, toss it in the air, then blast it with Mr. Blasty (a 10 gauge shoot gun). Seeing how me and my friend are going to the shooting range on Friday, I'll see if I can send you a picture.

I watch it!!!
One friend of mine invited me to an exclusive preview
and of course I went
my gosh, it´s awesome, the very best sequel ever made before. the Prince certanly looks softer, but not a lot.
What worried me the most at the very beggining was Ronno, specially in the first scene in winter where it looks very cheapquel-like drawed, but later it doesn´t

I went to go check the mail; I open the door and a small box jumps out at me then I was like "that SOB UPS guy put it in the door without ringing the door bell." Then I was like...
TEHEHEHE!!! I just got mine. Ok here's what I'm going to do. I'm gonna watch the original then after the part where his mom dies I'm gonna pop this in. After I'm done watching that... I'll watch the rest of it. Then I'm going to play all the games and activities... ... ... Meh... that's... that's... no! I'm gonna watch it on my TV cuz I got it that hooked up to a 300 watt sub-woofer and 2 100 watt mid-ranges and tweeters. Oh yeah!!
I'll be back with all of my criticism!!! It's funny cuz I'm watching Star Trek: TNG right now if you know what I mean.
