Wow, then Onwards definitely means a lot to you if it eclipsed so many of your favorites from the 2000s. And you seem like a huge Pete Docter fan since Monsters Inc, Up, and Inside Out all rank super high in your list.Patricier21 wrote:For me, its better than literally ALL the 2010s Pixar movies (even though I still LOVE them all), aside from Inside Out of which I would rank it as equal or right below. I also like it better than both Monsters, both Incredibles and Up, ALL of which I still LOVEJeanGreyForever wrote:I'm glad you loved the film so much and consider it one of Pixar's best! Out of curiosity, which recent Pixar films do you think Onward was so much better than?
Definitely NOT as good as what I consider to be the core 4 Pixar films:
Toy Story 1 & 2 (2 is my favourite movie btw and the whole reason why I wanted to get into making movies
A Bug's Life (aka the most under rated movie EVER made)
Finding Nemo
Possibly also better than Cars 1 & 2 (Yes, I LOVE Cars 2 and do not understand why the flying heck people hate it so much and consider it to be the worst Pixar sequel, let alone movie. For me its one of their Best Pixar Sequels and my favourite Cars/Planes movie![]()
(definitely better than both Planes, of which Fire & Rescue I LOVE and Planes 1, of which I consider to be the worst Cars/Planes movie, but still overall good and better than pretty much ALL other Disneytoons movies, lets alone better than most people give it credit for![]()
Ratatouille and Wall.e
Again, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL PIXAR movies and, aside from maybe 5 of them, plus 1 or both of their TV Specials and 1 of their shorts, consider EVERYTHING they've done to be perfect to the point where I wouldn't change ANYTHING about them, and Onward is 1 of those PERFECT ones
That's so neat that TS2 is what inspired you to want to get into the movie making business. And I'm so glad to see a fan of A Bug's Life here. That is such an underrated film like you said and almost nobody gives it its due these days.
Personally I'm not a fan of the Cars/Planes franchise although I don't mind the first film. It took me almost 10 years to finally sit through the whole thing because I was never one of those kids who had an interest in cars so the general premise of the film didn't appeal to me, but I was surprisingly receptive to the film when I finally saw the whole thing. And it helps that I love the ride in Disney California Adventure.
It's really nice to see a mega-Pixar fan here though because most of the Disney fans here aren't as warm to Pixar, which is understandable considering how the narrative in the 2000s was that Pixar had replaced Disney and Disney was outdated and needed to go away and die.
Those are great choices! And I'm so glad to see Finding Dory so high up on your list because recently there's been a backlash to all the non-Toy Story sequels with people claiming that Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 should never have been made, which I do NOT agree with at all. I think Finding Dory is as amazing as the original film so it's heartening to see a person who feels it's even better.blackcauldron85 wrote:TS3 & Finding Dory!JeanGreyForever wrote: What are your first two fav Pixar films?
I agree about the 3rd act. I had avoided spoilers, so really I didn't know much besides what we saw in trailers, but it was so entertaining, adventurous, edge of your seat!!!
This is one of the few Disney films where I didn't expose myself to spoilers beforehand and I'm so glad for that because the third act had so many major twists and turns. I know Coco was similar in that respect and even though I didn't follow spoilers for Coco, I did predict the revelation early on in the film unlike in Onwards.
