The songs in Cinderella III were particularly horrible, the lyrics sounded like something from a tv show for pre school kids. Overall I thought it was a very good concept that was executed very poorly. The animation was very good though, I'll say that much, but the very cheesy dialouge overshadowed it. I'm not giving my opinion about TLM III until I see it, but I think it has potential.
I kinda agree.
To be honest, I didn't have such high hopes for Cindy3, due to the quality of crap that was Cindy2; however, it was just the tagline "What if . . .?" scenario that made me buy it and actually enjoy it. But is it the best? In my opinion, it's in a tie for second for DTV sequels/midquels/etc.
However, since I have yet to see TLM:AB for myself (yet . . . 2 more weeks . . .), I would have to say that "Simba's Pride" was one of the stronger sequels of the DTV line. Sure it doesn't bother to acknowledge the events of the "TLK: Six New Adventures" book series, but the quality of character and animation (as well as the great soundtrack) won me over. Another one is "Bambi II" (AKA Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest) - the dialogue was a bit awkward during some parts, but the art and quality . . . WOW. It was breathtaking. One of Disney's better works.
So, yeah. I'll also admit to liking TLM2, only in the character of Melody alone (because she's just that interesting of a character) and not because of the storyline and baaaaad animation consistency. (The songs sucked too, but heck, as a devoted TLM fan, I will complete my collection darn it.)
But with the DTV sequels/midquels/continuations/etc., it's all up to the viewer. Sure, the Stitch movies were made to add closure (or more calamity - redundant plotlines . . . bah.) to the TV series (and the huge fandom that later spawned from it), and the Aladdin sequels (mainly the horribly-animated "Return to Jafar") added a prologue to the soon-to-begin TV series, but you like what you like.
But returning back to the topic at hand, I'm really looking forward to the final chapter of the DTV sequel saga. Based on what I've seen and heard of TLM:AB thus far, it seems to be good yet it's probably lacking originality to the plot.
(No, I choose not to read spoilers . . . because that's just how I roll. LOL)
And yeah, the commercial that I've seen for it seems to just scream "BUY ME" or something . . . I think I saw the flashback one that reminded you of the first movie before jumping into the basic plot of this prequel. (Heck, I'm still snagging mine on day one!)
