Why did they have to drop the trailers? The extras are few as it is :x :x

And the censorship sucks as well...and the fact that it is gonna be a single disc.

Why do disney releases suck so much? I mean look how other studios treat their films; the difference is more than evident.

Well I'm bummed it's still edited...At least the Walt Disney interview is new...and I LIKE TRAILERS! but there not here...ah well, since I still don't own either of the two, I'll settle for this when it arrives. It'll be nice to watch these, since I don't really remember seeing them before. Perhaps they'll up up more on my list of favorites heh, I'll return later with my thoughts on the movies...

Perhaps, if this one has decent sales. Disney has to know that even having both films on one disc won't make it sell that well.

At least that in this set there isn't a whole scene missing! If they re-release 'Make Mine Music' I hope that they will include it uncut. If THAT doesn't happen perhaps the section can go on a WDT. Its not ideal but its better than what we've got.

While it sucks that the DVD itself isn't as great as it could have been, I disagree with the review about the movie, specifically Three Caballeros.

Saludos Amigos IS pretty boring and shallow at times, except for "Aquarela Do Brasil" which is fantastic in its presentation and easily the best short in the feature, but Three Caballeros is anything but forgettable.

I used to LOVE this film as a kid, but as an adult I greatly appreciate it for its fast paced presentation and maniac animation. Simply put, for a movie commissioned by the US Government in order to keep allies intact during the War the animation is impressive! The Mary Blair artwork gives it so much vibrant color I am stunned the UD review didn't point this out. The music is also very, very good. Its also one of the best "head" movies Disney has ever produced, with Alice in Wonderland and the Pink Elephants on Parade sequence in Dumbo coming very close. I just LOVE how manic and frantic the final moments of the movie are. Plus, as stereotyped as they are I LOVE Jose and Panchito. With Donald they make an awesome trio, and I am very happy to know that Disney has reunited them for the "River of time" attraction at Disney World.

The opening shorts (Pablo the Hot Blooded Penguin, the Aracuan, Bahia etc.) were also great. I love the Aracuan, especially his song. I want a ringtone of it!).

Finally, the subtext hidden underneath the humor is funny as all heck. This film celebrates Latin culture, but in the final minutes focuses greatly on the beauty of its women.

I look at it and say; "Wow, Disney and his writers were thinking ahead of their times". Think about it for a second, Donald goes insane at the women in Cancun and Acapulco. Fast Forward to present times. When Spring Break comes around, what do you see on MTV? Crazy, sex starved, alcohol injected teens and college people chasing women (and men) around in Mexico.

Notice the similarities? Again, Disney knew what would happen a few years after the film was released :p .

But stopping my ramble for a bit, to me the film should NOT be viewed as part of the majestic canon of Disney films. It is not meant to tell a captivating story, present us with incredible animation or heart stopping music. Its basically a pop corn film where you turn your brain off and just enjoy the ride.

If you look at Caballeros that way, you'll have a blast, hence why its so beloved in the animation community.

"Has estado en Bahia, Donald?"

"BUENO PUES VAMOS!!!"

Oh yeah, Saludos Amigos has a character named Pedro from Chile. Since my name is Pedro the film gets kudos for naming him that :D.

Trivia: An artist from Chile felt very offended by the Pedro short, believing that Disney was stereotyping the country by using a small, somewhat coward plane. He was so upset that he created a character named "Condorito" in response to the short. Years later, the character has become one of the most popular comic book characters in Chilean history.

Yeah, from the review, it looks like I will be passing this re-release. It's so sad how Disney is treating their DVD's now! :(

Make Mine Music and Melody time is released in Europe, at least in the Scandinavian countrys. Unedited and in English, they have subtitles but you can choose not to use them. Saludos Amigos and Three Caballeros is also released but I dont' know if they are unedited.

We have Melody Time in the UK and Ireland (unedited!), but Make Mine Music was never released here. Saludos Amigos is cut here too, though.

:?: So the DVD comes out tomorrow. Any specific in-store bonuses planned for this one or not? Will Wal-mart have any bonus with it?

The documentary film "Walt & El Grupo" is getting a limited theatrical release, and I'm assuming this "Classic Caballeros" rerelease is a shameless tie in for that documentary produced by the "Walt Disney Family Foundations Film" group. I sincerely hope that this documentary will get a DVD release because I don't think it'll be coming to a theatre near me.

They could totally release a complete Caballeros collection. It could include all of the material from the laserdisc collection, as well as this documentary:) One can dream......

Check out the cool site with trailer for "Walt & El Grupo":

It's playing now in San Francisco I believe.......

I did find one bonus. Disney Movie Rewards is offering double the points for a limited time. So you get 150 points rather than 75. Offer is good until June 2, 2008.

I was really disappointed to see that it was only worth 75 points, but then I was happy when I found out it was up for double points! :) I'll be picking up my copy tomorrow as I do not yet own either title.

Sorry for the double post!

I am a little frustrated because I purchased the Classic Caballeros Collection from Best Buy when I went there this morning. Now, this afternoon I get a coupon in my e-mail from Disney for $3 off this title. Does anyone know if Best Buy might give me a price adjustment if I took in the coupon? Another question, did anyone else get this coupon? Because when I click on it to print it out the page says ERROR! Is everyone else having the same problem when they click on the link?

Yep, I'm having the same problem getting the coupon.

Best Buy won't honor the coupon after the sale is made, though. If the DVD is still sealed, you could probably return it and then repurchase it with the coupon.

Either return it & repurchase it or buy another copy with the coupon & then next time you go to BB return the unopened one with the full price receipt.

My god, doesn't anyone read the front page or the reviews anymore?
In Luke's Review which was posted ten days ago on the front page, he wrote:Two in-case inserts provide a Disney Movie Rewards code and scene selections, while also finding room for print ads.
Anyway, the documentary Walt and El Grupo looks really interesting based on the site and trailer that Fella provided. I'd really like to see it, but it's not playing near Jersey. I'm hoping Disney does release it on DVD, it would make an excellent third-disc (or second-disc for anyone buying the re-release) for the Latin American films. And since it'll likely be a more AnimationFan/DisneyHistorian/DVDCollector oriented title, maybe we'll get some decent bonus features and perhaps they'll include the EAC laserdisc material for SA/TTC that were unceremoniously left off of the re-release.
