Does anybody know more about this release? Will there be any extras? Or only a 2-movie-release?

I do know that they (Disney) took it off the sales market earlier last year like they did for th Aristocats.... But this looks like a two-pack...
This is a very interesting find indeed

I'll buy it. I don't have either film and this is a chance to see both of them for a really low price. However, it seems weird that we haven't heard anything about this and it's coming out in April. Sounds odd, but if they are both released I'll certainly go and buy them.

I have a sinking feeling these will simply be those two-movie collections that are popping up at Wal-Marts and other stores, where the existing discs are simply put into a double-amaray with new cover art. As much as I'd like for SA/TTC to get a features-packed set akin to their laserdisc set, Disney has proven in the past couple years that aside from the Treasures and Platinums, the last thing on their mind is a general release of a catalogue title with a gravy boat of archival and making-of material and excellent audio/video restoration.
Of course, if Disney proves me wrong and will actually provide a general release of a catalogue title with a gravy boat of archival and making-of material and excellent audio/video restoration, then I'll take back all my bitchings and moanings and eat a straw hat.
BTW, other discussions about SA/TTC can be found here:
3 CABALLEROS + SALUDOS AMIGOS DVDs by quasi72, created October 16, 2003
Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros - New Edition coming? by Escapay, created March 5, 2007
Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros Coming to DVD!!! by MutantEnemy, created May 7, 2007
And an interested thread from 2004 regarding Jim Hill's early prediction/assurance that BVHE will revive the Archive Collection onto DVD for hardcore collectors. Obviously...the plans changed.

I'd rather see you eat the lace collar, but that might just be me.Escapay wrote: then I'll take back all my bitchings and moanings and eat a straw hat.

I think that the 2-movie sets are great for people who want to get 2 movies cheaply- I got the "Old Yeller"/"Savage Sam" set for Christmas, and, although it messes up the chronological order that I keep my Disney movies in, it's nice to have both movies without paying a 2-movie price.
I agree with slave2moonlight and Matt- I'll only double-dip if they're unedited, unless they have awesome bonus features (which is kind of doubtful, but I don't want to be pessimistic).

These 2-disc releases are a good idea, but why aren't they possible for never released movies?
They could combine these Wonderful World of Disney movies from the Disney Movie Club (the latest releases were only 45 minutes).
Or all the other rare live-action features that were never released or are ut of print (Anchor Bay).

Forget the hat or lace Collar (Godzilla Cry), you should eat a DVD condom, a.k.a., slip cover Scapsta. And not one of those ones that is flat and just reproduces the DVD cover. Oh no, it has to be embossed and open like a book.blackcauldron85 wrote:I'd rather see you eat the lace collar, but that might just be me.Escapay wrote: then I'll take back all my bitchings and moanings and eat a straw hat.![]()

I already own these two movies. I think I'll double-dip only if they have great bonus features.
It will be hard for me not to buy it but if they come in a 2-movies set I'm not that interested. But I think it's a good idea for people who doesn't want to pay the price of the 2 movies. And it's a good deal for parents!

The "I'll eat a straw hat" is an old inside joke that I throw about every so often (even used it in a Baby Einstein review!). It came from a Betty & Veronica comic where Veronica says something like "if Archie and the boys don't notice me in my new swimsuit, I'll eat Betty's straw hat." Archie and the boys surprisingly DON'T notice her (they're too busy making a sand castle), to which Betty offers the hat and asks of Veronica would like salt or pepper. I've since used it as a way of saying, "yeah...like that will ever happen!...but if it did, I'll eat a straw hat!"
Still, a lace collar (ROOOAARRR!) and a DVD condom would be slightly more appetizing!

I am excited! I still have yet to see either of these films, mainly because I can't seem to find them anywhere for rental. I will most likely pick this up when it hits stores. Wow, it looks like this will be a good year for Disney Animated Classics on DVD. The Aristocats, 101 Dalmatians, and now these... and that is just the first 4 months, we still have Sleeping Beauty to look forward to in the fall, and who knows, perhaps something else as well.
Well, Fantasia is still slated for a Platinum Edition release, so I wouldn't think that it would receive this treatment, but it is possible for The Rescuers. However, I think if it were done right, a "Rescuers" anthology set could be great. I think these two films got packages together because they are both pretty short and they are the Latin America themed films. I think it just kind of makes sense to do it this way.toonaspie wrote:Does anything think (or worry) that they might use this approach with the Fantasia movies or The Rescuers movies? I mean it would be a cool collection but then again I have a feeling it wont be no Fantasia Anthology or Toy Story toybox and that worries me.
