I'm certain Snow White was intended to be pretty, but not sexy. There are two things to consider, I think. First, the canon of american beauty in the 1930's. I don't know much about that, but I can see a difference between the actress who played Scarlett O'Hara, for instance, who would still be cons...

Lots of Disney DVD's have Disney dust on the covers when it's not in the film. It's Disney's trademark. I know it's Disney's trademark. But it has a history. It didn't started with Snow White, it started with Cinderella I think or around the Cinderella era. And it stopped at some point. There's no ...

there's is something wrong with snow whites's dress. it's too long, too fluffy, too yellow. and there's a piece of yellow fabric on top of another piece of yellow fabric, like there is a yellow dress on top of the yellow dress, which is weird. they must be mistaken with cinderella's dress. they even...

the whole thing is pretty heavy already. I think that's why the title isn't framed in a box like the other titles. Plus there's already a frame: the mirror. That would be a frame on a frame.

I agree with goofystitch, I really like the font of the title. It's not out of the blue: it's retro and reminiscent of the font used on the original poster. I think it's inspired by the golden letters on the glass coffin in the movie. So for me, it's a very good choice. I'm not always a fan of the d...

Mermaid compression

Hi everyone. Ultimate Disney's review of The Little Mermaid dvd says the picture quality of the video is very good. Has anyone else found that there was a few compression problems? The opening logo of WDPictures is so compressed I can see distinct rings in the light around the castle. A few seconds ...

don't know if it has been said before (41 pages!) but I'm not very satisfied with the cover art. mostly because we don't see that the girl is a mermaid. her fish tail is almost completely hidden with the title logo. her tail is her most significant and interesting feature and we can't see it. on the...

"le roman de renard" has actually been made in dreadfull 3D by a european studio last year. I don't suppose disney would ever produce chanticlair nowadays. plus, if they did, it wouldn't look at all like it was intended. robin hood really is the incarnation of all the artwork they did I th...

Personally, I don't have the DVD and am not 100% sure if I want it, frankly, as The Aristocats, although it had an okay story was disgusting to look at. It has the sketchy look of the 1960/70s movies from Disney, only it just looks too heavy here; even on my video of which I've had for around a dec...

well, the thing is that I love the If I never knew you sequence. I think the film is better with than without it. MY cut would be a version with the new segment but with original material instead of the flashback and without the reprise in the end.

HORRIFIED with the new Pocahontas...

Hi everyone. I had the laserdisc box set. So I knew the sequence. The rough animation was beautiful in the first place so what they did with the clean animation is ok. but I disagree with what I read in a review. I'm pretty sure the flashback was not meant to be in the final cut. It was just there t...

the yellow dot bothers me a lot. with so much passion here about upcoming cover arts in general, one can understand that it ruins everything. I think the reason why they don't stamp a removable sticker or make a reversible insert is simply because those would be more expensive to make. And they can'...

don't worry. cinderella won't be shown in a "matted fake-widescreen" version. I don't know about the US, but they regularly show old movies in french theatres and they never do such a thing. I went to see the wizard of oz last summer and it was in the original aspect ratio. as for releasin...

this cover is ugly! how can you not see that? as they did for the gold collection edition, they took some old existing material and altered it. we've been having this mediocre cover in france for some time and I was expecting a new one. the alice dvd cover was nice. it was made especially for the dv...

I've tried to discuss this here before. they ruined the film with the restoration. take the backgrounds of the countryside when maurice leaves to the fair. compare the rich, contrasted ones in the old version. they look like 18th century paintings. and look at the flatened ones in the new version. t...

these covers are not final IMO. bambi. look closely at flower. he's not photoshoped yet. it's a still from the film. and bambi himself doesn't look like himself. but the layout is definitive I think. cinderella. the title logo is an old one. it's not even the latest one. I think they'll create a new...

disney's platinum series doesn't only sell in america, it is a global plan. as a european, I can say that what you consider a minor movie in the us can be a major succes elsewhere. the jungle book, 101 dalmatians, the fox and the hound and the black cauldron are extremely popular in france. as for m...

I've seen Lorenzo and Destino.

I've seen Lorenzo and Destino this week ! There were two free screenings of short films this week in Paris. I went in both. Lorenzo was presented last wednesday as the winner of the annecy fest. And yesterday I was able to see Destino in a proper way (I had seen a pirate version). Lorenzo is a beaut...
