The Jungle Book Platinum Edition DVD site is live!

http://www.junglebookdvd.com

They're calling it "40th Anniversary Edition", release date: October 2nd. No cover artwork yet, but the site does feature a trailer (which looks pretty good and vibrant).

While I don't think the cover's bad, I do prefer the Japanese cover since I've always loved this poster and I think it's so much more stylish.

Yes, I saw it 3 times during its original theatrical release here in Holland (1990). I was 6 years old, and it still is my all time favorite Disney movie.

Yeah this is a mistake. I guess they just used some standard print from another DVD and forgot to remove this. 'Hocus Pocus' is presented in it's OAR of 1.85:1.

Yes it is. 'If I Never Knew You' is integrated and the 'If I Never Knew You' reprise in the end, and some extended credits about the 'DVD Edition'.

And the 'If I Never Knew You' scene is pretty much the same, but I think a different Mel Gibson take was used for his vocals, and Pocahontas doesn't cry when John Smith sings 'dry your eyes'.

Yes tdr141, it's just as good as 'BATB', 'Lion King' and 'Aladdin'. The Gold Collection DVD was a disappoinment with the grain and all but this is a crystal clear digital transfer.

Joe, yes this has a new commentary. I also have the laserdisc boxset and the new commentary on the Special Edition DVD has Jim Pentecost, Eric Goldberg and Mark Gabriel participating. I haven't listened to the full thing yet but I agree the original one was pretty good. I guess they wanted a new one...

The 5.1 mix is the same as on the previous releases.
John Smith and Pocahontas both sing in the reprise. All original dialogue is intact, the added sequences are extra. Nothing has been deleted.

I know! I wasn't expecting this AT ALL, and then it came on. I still can't believe it and I keep checking it, but it's there :D
It comes up between Pocahontas's line: "I'll always be with you... Forever" and the kiss. It looks like it's always been there and just feels right. It's amazing.

Yes, it's anamorphic 1.66:1 and looks splendid. It's a digital transfer so no grain to be seen, like on the previous release.

I just got the Australian edition, and the image quality is spectacular. I'm pretty sure it's a digital transfer and it's very good. I think this is the reworked IMAX-edition and sometimes it feels a little too clean, like the Platinum Edition of 'Beauty and the Beast' which looked like a DTV at som...

Wrong booklet in Disney Treasures: Davy Crockett

I recently purchased the Walt Disney Treasures DVD 'Davy Crockett' off eBay (sealed with the Buena Vista wrap and all), and I was surprised to find out it actually contained the booklet of the 'Silly Symphonies' set. I contacted Disney through their website, and they directed me to their toll free n...
