Maybe they should update it. It would still be the same ride, in essence. I also like the idea of randomizing it, either would give it a needed lift (and the classic would still be there). Come on Lucas- make Eisner do it! (Oy, the chances of a fan's dream when it depends on Lucas and Eisner, of all people

Lucas has been wanting to have it updated, but your Eisner won't do it.
Well, now our Eisner is gone and Lucas can run wild and do what he does best (worst?): updating
Given that both my girlfriend and I share a love of Star Wars, going on
Star Tours in the Disneyland Resort, CA was a no-brainer. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we went on it twice.
I have to admit that the in-flight droid (can't even remember its name) annoyed the proverbial out of me, but it was otherwise a fun ride. Although the wait can occasionally be a long one (that said, we pretty much walked straight in both times), the atmosphere created in the waiting area is pretty neat: R2 and C-3P0 greeting you; droids working on things; introductory videos that are a little tongue-in-cheek (I didn't notice any Wookies sitting next to me...).
The ride DOES jerk you around a fair bit, which is probably something that won't appeal to everyone. I actually think that the
Star Trek: Klingon Encounter in the Las Vegas Hilton does this ride a little better, as it immerses you completely in the Star Trek universe - you are "beamed" aboard the Enterprise, taken to the bridge, down a turbolift before you even get to the simulator, which conveniently crashes back in Las Vegas and an actor dressed as a janitor escorts you out.
That said, it is very hard to top the sensation of the Death Star trench run
Naturally, I went and bought a Jedi Mickey afterwards, which is pretty much as cool as it gets
