Bill- what Maerj said. And despite Fox News' habit of entirely making up quotes, I think you'll find that particular transcript on both their site and other "reputable" CNN-esque sources.

This is going to be a long four years.

That's all I say in a "public" forum.

Needless to say I fear for this country, I really do. The chicken little syndrome continues.

I'm at peace with Bush's probable win. Know why? Because even with all of the additional damage he will (not can, will) do, he will be the one in office when everything comes apart at the seams. The man will cause his own demise.

Truthfully, I am ashamed.

This is an unfortunate gesture to the rest of the world.

The Democratic Party had the backing of non-democrats who decided to join the team in hopes of knocking a beast off of his throne. This is a great, great blow to the Democratic Party, and so be it. They couldn't win a convincing victory even with the backing of folks who would rather have voted otherwise..

This is crazy.

Really, I appreciate the humor of 51% of the americans... is there a hidden camera somewhere?

To be fair, despite what the current polls are depicting, a lot of votes haven't been counted yet, but the fact that he got 3 million votes at all still blows my mind. heh.

People deserve what they vote for I guess, but it certainly isn't fair to the rest of the world.

Still, there's lingering hope...

ABC News just reported at 3 in the morning that people are still lined up and voting in at least TWO precincts in Ohio -- including predominantly college students at one polling area. With cell phones and portable cameras, it's startling to me that we weren't seeing LIVE FOOTAGE of people lined up and voting in the most hotly contested state in the country, but there you are.

Ohio is STILL casting ballots and there are provisional ballots AND overseas ballots AND absentee ballots. I am disconsolate at this moment that it was even close, much less that Kerry is trailing in the popular vote. But is it too much to ask that we count every vote or at least wait until people have stopped voting in Ohio before calling it a day?

Laughably, a Republican lackey just insisted that it was outrageous that Kerry's people wanted to wait until all the votes were counted and claimed the Democrats were gonna try all sorts of legal wrangling and that the American people want their leaders chosen by voters and not by activist judges. Amen, brother, but where the hell were you in 2000?

Currently........it isn't over.

A new president has not been elected and nothing is official for at least a week.

Fox news speculated correctly from the beginning. In 2004, Ohio is 2000's Florida.

I finally watched Farenheit 911 yesterday (a website has been showing it free of charge for a while.. a decidedly anti-Bush site). I must say, I was completely shocked. How could seemingly intelligent people believe all that Michael Moore has said? There are too many holes in his own story that my 5 month old son caught. Aiden was laughing and giggling at it the whole time I was trying to watch it. I certainly hope that people did not use this film to help them decide who to vote for. Unfortunately, I am certain that many did.

I think the reason for Kerry not winning are his plans for everything. People seemed to realize that Kerry's plan on Iraq was really no better or different than Bush's plan. The foreign support he said he would be able to obtain, such as France and Germany, have already said they won't lift a finger to help. Also, all of his social and economic initiatives, would tax us Americans to no end! I'm sorry, but last year was the first year we have ever received a tax refund (we are by far not rich, we are part of that lower middle class that is "taxed to death" right now). I don't think that nice chunk of change going in our pockets would be there if Kerry's plans were to take effect.

I'm afraid if Kerry were to win, he'd sit down and smoke the peace pipe with Bin Laden, and then let him walk all over us, for the sake of promoting diplomacy.

Ok, enough of my rant. The people have voted, and I guess we will find out soon enough if Kerry will ever concede.

Oh yeah, I got a funny email yesterday. It really makes you think, especially for the enormous increase in voter turn out this year, about all the extra "idiots" that are voting this year.
Today is the American Presidential Election. Today's
funny relates to that, so if you are not American, you
might not appreciate it as much. :)

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real state
agent which direction was North because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up very morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the North?" When another person jumped in and explained that the sun rises in the East (and has for some time), she shook her head and said, "Oh, I don't keep up with that stuff."

... And then she voted!

I used to work in technical support for a 24x7 call
center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked
what hours the call center was open. I told him, "The
number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?" Wanting
to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh ... Pacific."

... And then he voted!

So my colleague and I were eating our lunch in our
cafeteria, when we overheard one of the admin. assistants talking about the sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the shore. She drove down in a convertible, but "didn't think she'd get sunburned because the car was moving."

... And then she voted!

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car. It's designed
to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps
it in the passenger side door's map pocket.

... And then she voted!

I was hanging out with a Liberal friend of mine when we
saw a woman walk by us with a nose ring attached to an
earring by a chain. My friend said, "Wouldn't the chain
rip out every time she turned her head?" I had to explain
to her that a person's nose and ear remain the same
distance apart no matter which way the head is turned!

... And then she voted!

My girlfriend and I were picking up some sandwiches from
the sub place last week and she asked the clerk which one
of two sandwiches was better. The clerk didn't have an
opinion but did say that the first sandwich was more
expensive. My girlfriend got a quizzical look on her face
and asked, "If that's the case, why are they both listed
with the same price on the menu?"

To this, the clerk responded, "I don't think they tax the turkey."

... And then he voted!

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So
I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there
that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not
to worry because they were trained professionals and I was
in good hands.

"Now," She asked me, "has your plane arrived yet?"

... And then she voted!

So if these people are going to go vote, you better go
vote too!

The contrast of opinions/view/ideologies of this country is growing more and more apparent.

Dude, with all that has happened in the past 4 years, your primary concern is on tax refunds? I just don't understand how anyone could hold this perception that the United States has been in good enough hands? Its a sad self inflicted wound...

This morning has really frustrated me to no end.

and 11 out of 11 states against gay marriage.. how the majority of this country can still be in "f**k those faggots" mode is really truthfully disturbing.

Hopefully, the only plus I can think of to justify another term with this douchebag is that it will raise even more awareness about how horrible these people are. I'm sure there won't be another republican president after this for another 16 years...

I guess it's in legal hands now.

Well, STASHONE, it's over.

I find it strange the areas that were attacked, namely Washington and New York seem to vote Democrat. Seems like these areas trust Kerry more about "homeland security" then the rest of the nation. How odd. Don't you think?

Americans can, when all is said and done, vote for who they want. I hope they voted based on more information that the TV adverts. But it's their decision.

Let them be the only nation at war with tax cuts. In some respects it will suit me if they ruin their economy. Not only will it be more dollars for the pound, but the Euro will grow in strength too. Let them get bogged now in Iraq for year upon year, at least it will stop them invading more countries without significant partners (unless of course, there is a draft and [gasp] President Bush lied).

Oh well, at least there will be no more gay marriages! Thank the Lord the importance of marriage is being preserved allowing Americans to get married and divorced several times each. Oh and I'm happy there will be no abortions too. Let the silly girls who find themselves pregnant have seedy back-ally abortions instead. Who cares if they die as a result? Serves them right. Especially if they let themselves be raped.

And I'm glad none of your shrinking tax revenue will be spent on the morally objectionable Stem Cell research. Fancy having the gall to spend all that money on something members of the public oppose. It's not like they've already spent billions of such money on a War millions did oppose.

No, they can't. However in Colorado this year I think there was a vote included in this election, or it was a decision for the courts to decide, I'm not sure which it was, to divide up the electoral votes proportionately among the candidates by how many votes each received. It is up to the states how the electoral votes are cast, not the federal government.

I'm not sure whatever happened with that issue, but I guess since we are not hearing anything about it, it never came to fruition.

Tax refunds were not the sole topic of my post. I understand there is a mess in Iraq, and I must admit, that I don't think that invading Iraq was the most intelligent thing to do at the time. I just don't see Kerry doing any better at fixing the problems in Iraq, and I honestly don't see him doing as well as Bush would in the war on Terror.

Thank goodness this isn't going for 36 days like it did in 2000. I'm impressed that Kerry conceded so quickly. The country, being as divided as it is, doesn't need this to drag on and on like it did with Gore and Bush.

Ain't that the truth. If you believe in God pray for the health of the 9 Supreme Court members. If Bush gets to appoint 3-4 justices as predicted say goodbye to civil liberties, say hello to the return of back alley coat hanger abortions. With more Repubs in the House & Senate say hello to more big tax cuts during wartime. Who will we invade next? Iran, Syria, etc...

Thinking about going to college or getting sick, sure hope your parents or you are in that upper 2% that'll be able to afford to pay for it.

Well, I'm off early tomorrow morning to the happiest place on Earth for 4 glorious days followed by 4 years in Hell.

Count on 4 more years with the same number of increases in the minimum wage as the last 4 (that would be NONE). Of course, the Republicans ALWAYS claim that increasing the minimum wage will lead to massive layoffs and job loss which is the exact opposite of the truth. Every time the minimum wage has been increased jobs have been added & the economy has improved. But you can't tell them that. Also, any hopes of females being paid the same wage for the same job are at least 4 more years away. Enjoy these 4 years. You will see. Believe me you will see.

How can a nation that saw 9.11.01, the IRAQ war, the thousands dead for BUSH supremacy, can reelect this representation of what the world deadly don't need...

I fear that the 4 next years will be catastrophic.. not only for the US, but for the world... 2003: Iraq, 2005: who's next...?

Well Bush, I hope your happy.

People have voted for you so in the next four years you can screw over the economy, create WWIII, lose another 3 million jobs, make taxes go through the roof and cause the price of gas to go up to $4.

I suspect he will be forced to resign a la Nixon by 2006.
Cheers,
