I’m sure they’ll find something “problematic” in the original production.
Disney is still obsessed with DEI and wokeness.

Pessimist much?

Also, you do know that DEI is a good thing, right?
Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

Sorry, I value competency over box checking.

The two aren't mutually exclusive, you know.

And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

I bought my tickets today for the japanese version. I’ll watch it November 6th. I'll tell you my opinion after that. I can't wait!

Over the years, Menken has worked outtakes from the Disney animated musicals into their Broadway adaptations so, in a way, he's never stopped working with Ashman. After the lyricist died, Menken worked his grief out in the form of a song with a lilting melody that he called "My Old Friend." He set it aside, but when he was working on the stage version of Beauty and the Beast, he converted the tune into Belle's song, "Home."
Huh. First time I've heard about this connection. Adds an extra layer to the grief of the song, for sure.

Oh I just realized that I didn't tell my experience!

Obviously I didn't understand anything about the musical but I've seen the UK tour version and the Spanish second production so I didn't really need to understand to enjoy it. The costumes were great even Belle's yellow gown. The scenography was better than the one that they are using on the tour but the stage gave me the feeling of being empty because it was huge.
The theater was near the Disney parks so it's a good choice if you are staying on the parks for a few days.
The shop was really amazing. They had lot of merchandise like surprise charms with the costumes of the production. I get a few of them, the program and the soundtrack.
I can't believe it was almost a year ago...how fast time passes
