It's a lovely film, very beautiful and an instant Classic, perfect to celebrate 100 years of the studio and for the upcoming holidays.
Embargo is until next November, 21.
Glad you liked it! How does it compare to Tangled, Frozen, and Encanto? And what did you think of the songs that haven't been released yet?
It's complicated to me to compare all of them.
I love Tangled a lot and also Frozen despite its flaws, not much Encanto because of its third lazy act which is so frustrating to me in terms of story. But I would say that I feel more like a Tangled vibe considering all the nods I noticed in Wish (not to mention that Queen Amaya is dubbed in french by famous actress Isabelle Adjani who already dubbed Mother Gothel...). After all, Wish is closer to a fairytale and in that way, Wish looks definitively like what people consider a Disney Animation film while there are a lot of different settings and stories in their legacy.
Overall I really enjoyed Wish for what it is : a Classic film which celebrates 100 years of the studio.
It's magical, the characters are lovely (I love the Teens as I expected) and the colors palette is so soft.
I really don't get the hate from social medias and I really don't care : people are stupid and vein.
We can love different kind of animation and i'm very open to various animated films.
Disney films are not perfect, none others from different studios so, well...
Just watch Wish in cinemas if you want to, listen to your inner desire and passion, that's all and make your own advice.
Animation is also a way to dream, to escape, to feel great emotions with the characters.
About the songs, there are good overall, but be sure that I saw the movie in my language, in french, not in original version. I like "This Wish", "At all Costs", "Knowing what I know Now" (loved this one!) and the reprise.
Embargo until next 21th is maybe only for France since Wish will be released next 29th and only in one Parisian theater (Le Grand Rex) exclusively from next 22th. :)

My native language is also French and I listened to "Je fais le vœu". I really think it's better than the original version. Are "This is the thanks I get?!" and "I'm a star" (and the other songs) as good as "Je fais le vœu" in French?

Oh, wow. I love Isabelle Adjani—Possession is one of my favorite movies!

I like Encanto but its third act story problems also drove me crazy. I think Tangled and Frozen come closer to capturing that old school Disney magic and that’s why I’m excited about Wish. It sounds like I’m going to enjoy it!

From 6:37 to 7:52 I think they were playing the instrumental of Knowing What I know Now. It sounds like a final battle music which is cool.

Does "At all Cost" sound like a pop song or does it have a more Broadway flair to it?

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGe1StwBB/ I was just opening Tiktok after a week and literally my whole fyp is full of those Videos... and i liked all of them :P but its still unfair to compare Magnificos song to Hellfire, but its still bad lol. The songs feel so uninspired with no real passion and seems to just try to immitate Disneys past sucessful songs like from Moana or Encanto. But I guess Disney had to because if the movie tries to celebrates the studios past then also the Lin Manuel mirandafication of songs i guess... why not just hire LMM himself to write the song for this :?

The problem with all the songs released so far is that None of them really drive the story forward or gives a deeper dive into the characters... its as if Disney thought their Musicals were sucessful because the songs were just catchy...nope its the WHOLE package that probably made them sucessful. From what I know, Lyrics shape Melody and not the other way around. You can feel it in songs from Ashman and Menken, how Personal and lyrics- driven the songs were, not the case with Wish. It would have made SO MUCH MORE SENSE to invite Menken to write the songs and score for the movie that celebrates the past that Menken Was obviously a big part of....
But anyways Im still watching this in theatres because I have nothing else to see in there and me LOVES going to theatres. Also because most claim that the Animation looks wayy more detailed and overall better on the big screen
My favourite Disney songs:
𝟏. 𝓟𝓪𝓻𝓽 𝓸𝓯 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭 (𝓵𝓲𝓽𝓽𝓵𝓮 𝓜𝓮𝓻𝓶𝓪𝓲𝓭)
𝟐. 𝓦𝓪𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 (𝓣𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓵𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓼)
𝟑. Wherever I go (Hannah Montana)🎶
𝟒. 𝓟𝓻𝓸𝓾𝓭 𝓸𝓯 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓑𝓸𝔂 (𝓐𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓭𝓲𝓷)
𝟓. 𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒞𝓁𝒾𝓂𝒷  (𝓗𝒶𝓃𝓃𝒶𝒽 𝓜𝑜𝓃𝓉𝒶𝓃𝒶 𝓂𝑜𝓋𝒾𝑒)
& more: 1000 years ( Legend of the Neverbeast),
I'll try (Return to Neverland) :pan: , So close (Enchanted), 𝒴𝑜𝓊´𝓁𝓁 𝓃𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝓁𝑜𝓈𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒 (𝒟𝒾𝓈𝓃𝑒𝓎 𝒫𝓇𝒾𝓃𝒸𝑒𝓈𝓈: 𝐸𝓃𝒸𝒽𝒶𝓃𝓉𝑒𝒹 𝒯𝒶𝓁𝑒𝓈), I thought I lost you (BOLT), Into the Unknown (Frozen 2) :pink:

I'm still not totally feeling the song, but I'm really glad that Ariana is finally able to step into the spotlight. She reads like a genuine Disney fan, and I can only imagine being one of the select few who actually get to be in the Disney glow yet NOT be allowed to take the victory lap.

Do interviews with the cast of a movie help promote a movie? I thought I'd ask because Ariana and Chris are set to do interviews and Disney has been ramping up on promotional material for Wish and I think because of the now-ended SAG-AFTRA strike, actors couldn't do interviews or attend premieres or something like that.

That, and I know that at Haunted Mansion's premiere, the stars of the film didn't attend due to the strike and I doubt they did any interviews, which didn't help the film's BO performance.

It reminds me a bit of the music in Mulan. I'm curious to hear the full song. By the way, the full little animation of Star and Tinker Bell can be seen in that video at this point. Star is shown visiting other Disney films throughout the video, though those moments don't feature new animation. Disney has also posted drawings of Star dressed as several classic Disney characters.

I was originally planning to wait and see if my immediate family and I would see it when we visit my sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece over Thanksgiving, but it would probably be tight in terms of timing. Don’t ask why.

But yeah, I think I’m definitely going to the early screening on Saturday.

Does anyone know if they’re screening a short beforehand? Just seems like they would/should given the film itself just scratches an hour and a half.

I do agree : I loved the song while watching Wish the other day at the press screening, even if it was in french. Maybe my favorite song from the movie. ^^
