I'm totally fine with a Filipina actress being a voice for the movie, I'm okay in general with anybody Hispanic or the diaspora

Right now none of the 3 actors are Hispanic, I mean Ariana Debose is 1/4 Puerto Rican with no culture at all (and it's just her biological semen donour since she hasn't met her father)

So I hope at least the rest are Hispanic or diaspora (Filipinos count as diaspora for the colonization and cultural things they share, I have many Filipino friends and they all have basically the same culture as Spain, and also their names)

Also makes more sense for Dahlia to be Pinay than East Asian as I assumed at first, but also doesn't make sense if this is based in the Al Andalus aka prior to Spanish imperialism, but I guess the movie will never explain exactly in what year it's based

That would be sooooo cool if it really happens. Our Disney Princess becoming a Disney Queen! Also, I already suspected that Dahlia is Asian when I first saw her in the teaser but it never crossed my mind that she could be Filipino so that would be cool as well; her design isn't that bad tbh. Most of "The Teens" have good designs aside from the Dopey-inspired teen who looks a bit goofy

Wish collection is announced on ShopDisney on October 2 while the embargo for other toys and products licenses will be lifted next October 1st : https://www.shopdisney.com/new-content/ .
I guess we can expect some dolls from Disney Store line, as well as plushes and figures set, etc.

Btw, I noticed that there are no Pop Funko announced (yet?) for Wish, and there was no Pop for Strange World, and neither for Pixar's Elemental : does anyone know why?

Also, princess.asha.22 from Instagram noticed me about a Wish calendar where we can spot a pose of Dahlia and Asha that I saw at Annecy's festival. Too bad that the calendar reprises twice several characters poses while there are nothing about Sakina and Sabino or the Teens (about the Teens, the little "Grumpy" one is name Gabo, as mentioned behind the upcoming Doorables figures).

It's obvious that the trailer will come this week or next one (I never saw a trailer popped on Mondays or Fridays though). Can't wait!

Apparently according to Deadline, Angelique Cabral is the actress playing Queen Amaya in the film. Which makes me wonder if Lea Salonga plays a different character or if it was only a rumor.

Lea Salonga playing Queen Amaya was just a rumor. It's nice to know that she could be played by someone in the Spanish diaspora, which could be telling that there are other actors from there that will be in the movie.

Oh, it's true. I'm not too good at history. Well, Asha's kingdom/island is a fictional place and the producer said the diversity in the film is explained because people from different parts of the world come to this place to have their wishes granted, though at the same time it's also inspired by the real diversity of the region at the time, so I guess they won't be 100% historically accurate.

Thanks for posting that calendar! At first I didn't know what you were referring to with the Doorables figures, but it's the image below, right? The Grumpy one being called Gabo is another indication my theory about the names could be right.

Most likely the rumor wasn't true. Asha's mother will probably be voiced by a Black actress and Dahlia is more likely to be played by a younger one. Now that we know she isn't voicing Queen Amaya, I doubt she's in the film. I'm sorry if I got people excited by posting that info, only to be disappointed.

Asha mom design is very romani inspired, maybe she's part romani and Asha is basically a mix of many races-ethnicities of the actual Iberian Peninsula (her grandfather has a Jewish sephardic sounding name)

According to Wikipedia, Angelique Cabral's father has Mexican and Native American ancestry and her mother has English and French ancestry. I don't think I've seen this actress in anything. Yeah, a famous Spanish actress would've been cool, but perhaps this one will do a good job.

I agree, especially the ones on the back covers. Thankfully, the characters look better in the film. Dahlia is also shown baking here and Sabino playing the lute, like in the Lego sets. Plus, Asha is writing or drawing in her notebook. I wonder if she'll be a bit of an artist like Rapunzel. I mean, we already know she likes to do little animations, but I wonder if it'll be an important part of her character or if it won't be explored much. And does the Sneezy-inspired Teen have a crush on the Bashful-inspired one? The last image seems to suggest so.

Now that you mention it, it's true she looks a bit Romani in those illustrations. Who knows, perhaps you're right about that. I'm curious who they've cast in the role. That might give us some indication about what ethnicity she's supposed to be.

Asha is looking good as always in those book illustrations, Dahlia looks good as well. The others look so off-model, especially Asha's mother in that one photo, she looks like a muppet

I dunno, I think it's the opposite with the Bashful-inspired teen having a crush on someone but it's the Happy one instead of the Sneezy one because I get the vibes that they secretly like each other since the Happy teen is the confident one and the Bashful teen is the shy one.
