I feel like that’s probably the beginning of the movie where we see Magnifico look all nice, but as it progresses, he’ll be seen as the villain and Asha has to figure out how to stop him on his own.DisneyFan09 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 1:17 pm To be honest, after seeing the TV spot, I`m a little torn about it. Besides, the opening joke also feels a little superfluous and doesn`t really blend with the rest of the tone of the Spot.

The style’s supposed to be flat to show why the backgrounds look like water paintings in the way Sleeping Beauty had, which Asha running out to adventure from her house is supposed to be a callback to.DisneyFan09 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 1:17 pm To be honest, after seeing the TV spot, I`m a little torn about it. Re: Wish
You're right, I looked it up and originally Keane wanted Tangled to be more like classical Rembrandt paintings that is indeed very different than the watercolor approach that Wish is using. Also, I do agree that in comparison to the likes of Frozen, Moana and Encanto; Tangled does feel incredibly washed out at times, not ugly IMO, but very washed out.Disney's Divinity wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 9:04 am I don't know, it doesn't look like Keane's whole painterly concept to me, but beautiful in a different way, more similar to "Paperman." Personally, I don't think it looks like Tangled at all? It looks much better than the finished Tangled ever did, tbh, that film was quite ugly to look at at times.
Agreed, also I think the shot of Asha running through the forest with those cottages in the background, might be the opening number.D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 2:55 pmThe style’s supposed to be flat to show why the backgrounds look like water paintings in the way Sleeping Beauty had, which Asha running out to adventure from her house is supposed to be a callback to.DisneyFan09 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 1:17 pm To be honest, after seeing the TV spot, I`m a little torn about it. There used to be a Dario Hernández on Days of Our Lives. I like that name.
Bazeema reminds me of Bazooms. That’s the best name they could come up with??

Interesting discovery! I think we could know which name belongs to each character as apparently every name begins with the same letter as the dwarf they're inspired by. I already suspected that when we learned Asha's Doc-inspired best friend was called Dahlia. I've used the image Prince Kido created and added the new names:

Darío and Simón are Spanish names and I think Gabo is short for Gabriel, although in Spain Gabi is a more common nickname for people with that name. This character might not be non-binary as we suspected after all judging by the name. Bazeema sounds Arabic to me, but I don't know about Safi and Hal. Does anyone know any of those names or if they're short for something?

Re: Wish
Well, I just rewatched the segment from Good Morning America from April where Ariana DeBose suprised her biggest fan Jazz Smith with a ticket for 2 (both DeBose and Smith) to go to the Hollywood World Premiere of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wish this coming November: https://youtu.be/S6ogsKjnybE.
It was really a genuinely touching, if not very emotional, moment given everything I’ve seen from this moment when it happened on April 27th, 2023.
It would be a real shame if her wish that just came true was taken away because of the greed of studio executives like that of Disney CEO Bob Iger, due to their refusal to pay the writers & actors for all they’ve made for them.
Iger, PLEASE just swallow your ego & pride and end the strikes by giving the writers and actors what they want so not only the film will stay for its theatrical release in 13 weeks from now (which I am glad you’re still sticking to and hope you still stick to), but so also the film’s world premiere can happen so the wish Ariana DeBose granted for Jazz Smith can still come true and not be lost. Please listen to the customers, consumers, and cast members for what they want you to do for them. THIS IS KILLING PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF to see you still can’t let go of your ego. PLEASE just let it go already and pay your workers and talent to avoid having this film’s premiere be cancelled FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
PLEASE?!?!?

In a new interview, producer Juan Pablo Reyes reveals Star's design was partly inspired by Mickey Mouse, particularly the fact that it's a simple design and it has a "mask" which is similar to Mickey's in its original design.
I also saw someone point out recently on Twitter its design seems inspired too by the stars that appear in the abandoned Snow White sequence where she and the prince dance on the clouds, and I think they might be right. It resembles those stars more than the fish-like ones in the Silly Symphony Wynken, Blynken and Nod which I mentioned could've been an inspiration.

Juan Pablo Reyes also said Walt's favorite tree in Marceline as a child served as inspiration for Asha's tree in the movie, though I believe Jennifer Lee had already revealed that detail in a past interview.
Speaking of the inspirations for Star, I think its pixie dust and some of its sounds are probably based on Tinker Bell's. By the way, I don't know if you guys noticed, but though it doesn't speak, Star makes some sounds in the teaser trailer when it laughs.
One last thing I wanted to mention which has to do with Star is that I recently noticed something about the logo I hadn't realized before. I thought it was a bit weird they chose to put the star over the letter "S" instead, for example, the "I." But now I think the "S" might represent the trail Star leaves behind when it moves as we can see, for instance, on some of the book covers. If that was indeed the case, I think it'd be quite clever and it'd make me like the logo much more. This cover in particular is the one that made me think of that possibility. What do you guys think? Could I be right about that?

Dario was quite popular in Spain during the 90s but I’ve been living here for 30 years and I have never met someone called Gabriel or Simon. Simon is more popular in jewish people because they used to have names that appear in the BibleD82 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 2:56 pm Interesting discovery! That's why there are so many Mary's and Jesus. Maybe it was popular 40 years ago but not right now. Simon also comes from the Jews. He was one of Jesu’s apostles
Queen Amaya and King Magnífico (both spanish names) probably have more screentime than all the Teens combined, Asha grandfather has a spanish name too for example
Btw I think Safi is the name of the skinny girl, Safi feels like a girl name (Safiro ala Saphire)

Apparently, there's a small difference between the online teaser trailer and the theatrical one in one shot. At least that's what a fan says here. I think I've seen the trailer in theaters when I saw Elemental, but I didn't notice that. Though, sometimes I don't pay much attention to trailers like that that I've already seen several times at home.
Curiously, it's the opposite for me. The only Darío I've heard of (apart from the one in the Bible) is Darío Barrio, a chef who appeared on TV in the early 2000s, I think, who tragically died doing some extreme sport. Though, Gabriel is not one of the most popular names here, I know several called like that. I know at least one Simón as well, but I think it's more common as a surname. Anyway, perhaps these names were more popular when the movie takes place.Thumper_93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 2:32 am Dario was quite popular in Spain during the 90s but I’ve been living here for 30 years and I have never met someone called Gabriel or Simon. Perhaps you're right. Asha's friends' names starting with the initials of the seven dwarfs' is just a theory. Though, I don't know, I think it's too much of a coincidence every initial matches that of a dwarf. We'll see. By the way, I've now realized that both Safi and Simon start with "s", so it could be the other way around; the one inspired by Sleepy could be Simon and the other one could be Safi (if my theory is right).Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 3:25 am Btw I think Safi is the name of the skinny girl, Safi feels like a girl name (Safiro ala Saphire)

On that topic, now that Dune 2 is delayed and The Marvels will get IMAX screens thanks to its delay (even if it moves up to November 3rd), after that movie and the Hunger Games prequel starring the new Snow White everyone loves (
