it seems to me, you will hold the members "against" you as personally responsible if this film fails, and cheer yourself and those with your same sentiments if it succeeds. to me, thats just odd. this film will fall or rise based on way more than 2 or 3 ticket sales.

actually, re-reading your post and its vaguely threatening... do this, or "face the consequences." seriously?? what consequences? sorry, but i think you are taking this way too seriously.

The consequences of losing Walt Disney Animation Studios and seeing it shut down with more employees losing their jobs if Wish fails and we lose projects like Tiana or Iwaju because people just don’t seem to want to listen nor read the room to see all the warning signs about how every choice that could ever be made can lead to a lot more serious mistakes and consequences that could be caused than you’re willing to realize and, in my opinion, not necessarily looking to care to realize.

Farerb wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:04 pm D23ExpoVisitor25, I literally said that Wish is my most anticipated movie for the rest of 2023. Yes I'm going to see it in theaters, probably more than once, so I really don't understand what you want from me :?
No, I don't have to like the movie or any info I hear about it, I'll still go and watch it and judge on my own. And I don't see how the success of this movie has anything to do with Tiana or hand drawn animation.
Ok first of all, I never said you needed to like the movie, just make sure you support it at the box office is all (though if you like it, I at least hope u recommend it to others to see in the theaters as well). Second, I’d completely forgot you had Wish as your most anticipated film of 2023, so that’s my bad and I apologize for forgetting that. And third, the reason that the success of Wish has anything to do with Tiana or hand drawn animation has to do with one factor Disney has been called out for across many years now: being the most risk-averse of all the studios In Hollywood. And every time they attempt to be the opposite of a company who’s risk-averse and allowed the directors of such non-risk-averse movies to be themselves, it’s gone either divisive (Iron Man 3, Eternals) or terribly wrong at the box office (The Last Jedi, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness). And for that reason alone, that is why I feel it’s imperative Wish not be like either of those four films and, with a new (or in this case, DIFFERENT) sort of animation style for Disney and a return to the Renaissance era of animated Disney storytelling with the fact the King Magnifico is not a third act twist reveal villain, that it be a success, especially if it’s as great a movie as it’s claimed to be, so it can be able to prove to Disney that they should move away from computer animation (or at least realistic style computer animation) and move into unique styles of animation for their future stories moving forward, which is why I feel that the success of Wish is what Tiana on Disney+ being hand-drawn animated along with Disney returning to hand-drawn animation hinges on so that their risk can pay off in the end. And that’s why I also believe the success of Wish is the only thing that can keep Walt Disney Animation Studios from going full-on back into sequels and/or suffering lay-odds and a potential shutdown.

If what I fear is true, Wish is the only thing standing between the future of Walt Disney Animation Studios and utter destruction.

And I must see to it that Wish not be the death knell for Walt Disney Animation Studios and more so it’s saving grace.

That’s what I’m trying to get at with why I believe Wish’s success has everything to do with Tiana being hand-drawn animated and why it must not fail or else we’ll lose that.

To me, it almost looks like the type of animation that was big in the 1960s for TV animated specials. But what do I know?

That animation style looks so ugly, I hate it so much

And I think I will still hate it when I watch the movie, critics said Elemental looked visually great but to me it was also ugly

Doesn’t mean the movie won’t be good, when it’s said six times to be a genuinely great movie.

I'm so excited for Wish. Too bad I won't be able to see it until January because Disney thinks it's 1990 again and will hold the release for 3 months here :x

Disney needs the spread-out overseas release to ensure it’s a hit.

Here's the translation of the synopsis on the back cover:
Anything is possible in the kingdom of wishes!

Asha lives in Rosas, where King Magnifico decides which wishes he wants to come true. When Asha makes a selfless wish, she is heard by a little star with boundless energy. Together with him, Asha bravely stands up to the arbitrariness of King Magnifico to save Rosas.

WOW! That background is so lovely and detailed that it reminds me of old-school Disney. I can see why the characters and the way they're designed and animated may take getting used to for some; but for me I'm happy we're going in this direction quite frankly. :D

To be honest, that synopsis on the back of the German book doesn’t make me wanna rush right out and see this.
More like I can wait til it’s on TV or DVD.

While I’m not enthusiastic about the look of the characters, the background does look fabulous.

Obviously, but a movie should look good and from the trailers and pictures the backgrounds look very Disney Junior Original Show

Maybe it looks better in the actual movie but since she's spaniard and I'm spaniard I want the movie to be perfect

The Lego sets have been officially revealed (more images on the links):

The sets show some new details, like our first look at Magnifico's magic book. It looks more like black magic than white one to me.

Image

His castle also has a secret lab and a hidden mirrored wardrobe.

Image

Image

We can see Asha's notebook as well, where she draws little animations according to the footage descriptions.

Image

It seems her grandfather likes to play the lute. And what's that paper on the wall which features a drawing of Asha? Is it a letter she wrote to her grandpa or something?

Image

The description calls the well in Asha's home a wishing well. Does she have both a wishing well and a wishing tree?

Dahlia is shown cooking. I wonder if she's a cook or a baker or if it's just a hobby.

Image

The Asha and the City of Rosas set includes a marketplace tour and Asha's tourist cart with a flag that "helps tourists find Asha on the tour." I also wonder if she has some job related to that.

If Asha is a tourist guide that means she's the first disney princess with an actual job (well Mulan was a soldier and that's a job, but I don't count it)

You forgot about Tiana, who has not one but two jobs. Elsa (and Anna) could count too since being a queen is a job, though we don't see them performing their royal duties much in the Frozen films. Moana is actually shown doing more than them as a princess and future leader. But you're right not many princesses (or lead Disney characters in general) have jobs.

Perhaps, since Asha's father died, her mother probably has to do the housework and her grandfather is too old to work, she's the one who has to provide for her family.

I don’t think any princess or Disney heroine worked harder than Snow White or Cinderella as abused scullery maids.
I couldn’t have done it.... certainly not as cheerily and with such kindness and good will.
Aurora is also shown doing housework (dusting and sweeping) and food gathering (berry picking), although under much happier circumstances living with her 3 beloved aunts.
Did any Disney Princess really sit around doing nothing but look beautiful ? I don’t think so...
Maybe one could argue Ariel or Jasmine... but even then, I’m not certain...

You're totally right that most disney princesses have been exploited in their movies, what I meant is a normal job.

I forgot about tiana who also had a regular job.

Btw how curious that the ones with real normal jobs (Cinderella was basically a slave) are black, I'm not against that since I like them having jobs but seems like it's not a coincidence
