Re: Wish
I hope Asha is an atheist because wow, giving her a goat best friend in a movie based in Muslim Spain is so tone deaf (unless they make a joke like Pua and Hey Hey in Moana)
Edit: my mistake, he's a goat and not a lamb, anyways in spain there's a horrible tradition of throwing goats from churches to murder them for no reason
Also, the runtime, I hate that animated movies have to be short always, why we can't get one that is 2 hours and more
And I guess the trailer will come out in the D23 event

Re: Wish
The tone deaf thing is making the first movie set in Spain but set it during islamic colonization, all while making the good guy a black outsider who came as a result of this colonization while making white people into the evil guys in their own country in a movie ripping off their own culture, who are defeated by the "good" colonizers at that.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 4:40 am I hope Asha is an atheist because wow, giving her a goat best friend in a movie based in Muslim Spain is so tone deaf (unless they make a joke like Pua and Hey Hey in Moana)

I'm waiting for the first Disney movie set in subsaharan africa to be set during european colonization, with a good white blonde main protagonist defeating the evil black african king all in an african kingdom.

Asha is not a princess, she's a random civilian, her mother is black, black people during the Al Andalus were highly opressed and mostly slaves, her grandfather has a Jewish sounding name, another opressed group in the Al Andalus.Lele wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 12:53 pmThe tone deaf thing is making the first movie set in Spain but set it during islamic colonization, all while making the good guy a black outsider who came as a result of this colonization while making white people into the evil guys in their own country in a movie ripping off their own culture, who are defeated by the "good" colonizers at that.

Pokenonbinary, we've been over this before. On this forum, members are not allowed to attack each other or call each other names directly or indirectly no matter the reason. If you are unable to control yourself, I strongly suggest you block the members whose comments bother you so much. To do that you go to User Control Panel, select the Friends & Foes tab, then select the Mange foes option, and where it says Add new foes, you enter the usernames of members you wish to block and you hit Submit. It's very simple.

Sorry for bumping these posters, but I love them. Despite you could tell they were fanmade, they still looked professional.D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:29 pm Courtesy of Sanjay Creates, we have 2 new posters for Disney’s Wish, ahead of its theatrical release on November 22nd.

Re: Wish
Well… there’s only 80 days left until the theatrical release of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wish.
Despite the small and frankly unfair complaints people have with this movie, you Sotiris being one of them, I would like for us to put those complaints & differences aside and make sure we support Wish (and Once Upon A Studio) when it comes out in theaters November 22nd.
This film is the last and only chance we may ever get to ensure Disney is convinced fully to make a full return to hand-drawn animation beginning with the upcoming Disney+ Tiana series. And I strongly urge you to join me in making sure we all take that chance and succeed in bringing it back and not fail on that front/mission again.
And I know that people in these forums, like you two specifically Sotiris and Faerb, that likely believe and will say that the hope and dream of bringing back hand-drawn animation is not possible, even if Wish is great and is a box office hit.
Well I say to you this… MAKE. IT. POSSIBLE.
If you refuse or fail, the animators and also the storytellers at Walt Disney Animation Studios will suffer the consequences and lose their jobs/get laid off, even those trying to bring back hand-drawn Animation in the wake of the exit of Lassetter like Jennifer Lee, who I suggest you not let be fired when she’s trying to help you all get what you want.
So, you all have a choice, even you, Sotiris, carolinakid, and Faerb. You can save your ego and pride or you can save the jobs of all the non-corporate storytelling people and save them from being laid off and losing their livelihood.
I know DisneyFan09, Disney’s Divinity, and Pokemonbinary are on my side and would rather see animation (hand-drawn and/or computer animated) not be made obsolete by the corporate people at Disney like Bob Iger and his board by ensuring Wish is a box office hit.
Now you have to decide which side you’re on.
Choose wisely or face the consequences of your actions and the consequences of your failure, should you choose wrong yet again.
This is not a threat, but a forewarning that is an “actions have consequences” way of warning you what happens if you make the wrong choice again.
I’m sick of watching people pay for our mistakes, even the ones who don’t deserve to be punished. And it’s time that ends NOW.
So, what’s it gonna be? Save the future of animation and make Wish a hit? Or let the innocent non-corporate people suffer the consequences and lose their only jobs that can give them and their families a roof over their head?
Think long and hard about this and choose wisely. There will be no second chances.

You know, I`m on your side, but why are you including me in a discussion that I`ve haven`t been included in? I don`t want to fight or flamebait, but I don`t think it`s fair that you`re involving me to be on your side when I haven`t even been a part of your conflict. You should`ve asked if it was okay to include me first.D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 5:20 pm I know DisneyFan09, Disney’s Divinity, and Pokemonbinary are on my side and would rather see animation (hand-drawn and/or computer animated) not be made obsolete by the corporate people at Disney like Bob Iger and his board by ensuring Wish is a box office hit.
And besides, why are you still calling out Sotiris and other users when it`s against the rules to call someone out here?

Strange. I was not aware it was against the rules to call people out. As far as I was told the rules were not to personally attack any users. You must be thinking of something else.DisneyFan09 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 5:52 pmYou know, I`m on your side, but why are you including me in a discussion that I`ve haven`t been included in? Anyways, my post was made to demand a call for accountability and responsibility for those who don’t put their money where their mouth is, that’s why I did this.
Re: Wish
D23ExpoVisitor25, I literally said that Wish is my most anticipated movie for the rest of 2023. Yes I'm going to see it in theaters, probably more than once, so I really don't understand what you want from me
No, I don't have to like the movie or any info I hear about it, I'll still go and watch it and judge on my own. And I don't see how the success of this movie has anything to do with Tiana or hand drawn animation.

Re: Wish
it seems to me, you will hold the members "against" you as personally responsible if this film fails, and cheer yourself and those with your same sentiments if it succeeds. to me, thats just odd. this film will fall or rise based on way more than 2 or 3 ticket sales.
actually, re-reading your post and its vaguely threatening... do this, or "face the consequences." seriously?? what consequences? sorry, but i think you are taking this way too seriously.

Re: Wish
The consequences of losing Walt Disney Animation Studios and seeing it shut down with more employees losing their jobs if Wish fails and we lose projects like Tiana or Iwaju because people just don’t seem to want to listen nor read the room to see all the warning signs about how every choice that could ever be made can lead to a lot more serious mistakes and consequences that could be caused than you’re willing to realize and, in my opinion, not necessarily looking to care to realize.sunhuntin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:15 pm it seems to me, you will hold the members "against" you as personally responsible if this film fails, and cheer yourself and those with your same sentiments if it succeeds. to me, thats just odd. this film will fall or rise based on way more than 2 or 3 ticket sales.

Re: Wish
Ok first of all, I never said you needed to like the movie, just make sure you support it at the box office is all (though if you like it, I at least hope u recommend it to others to see in the theaters as well). Second, I’d completely forgot you had Wish as your most anticipated film of 2023, so that’s my bad and I apologize for forgetting that. And third, the reason that the success of Wish has anything to do with Tiana or hand drawn animation has to do with one factor Disney has been called out for across many years now: being the most risk-averse of all the studios In Hollywood. And every time they attempt to be the opposite of a company who’s risk-averse and allowed the directors of such non-risk-averse movies to be themselves, it’s gone either divisive (Iron Man 3, Eternals) or terribly wrong at the box office (The Last Jedi, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness). And for that reason alone, that is why I feel it’s imperative Wish not be like either of those four films and, with a new (or in this case, DIFFERENT) sort of animation style for Disney and a return to the Renaissance era of animated Disney storytelling with the fact the King Magnifico is not a third act twist reveal villain, that it be a success, especially if it’s as great a movie as it’s claimed to be, so it can be able to prove to Disney that they should move away from computer animation (or at least realistic style computer animation) and move into unique styles of animation for their future stories moving forward, which is why I feel that the success of Wish is what Tiana on Disney+ being hand-drawn animated along with Disney returning to hand-drawn animation hinges on so that their risk can pay off in the end. And that’s why I also believe the success of Wish is the only thing that can keep Walt Disney Animation Studios from going full-on back into sequels and/or suffering lay-odds and a potential shutdown.Farerb wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:04 pm D23ExpoVisitor25, I literally said that Wish is my most anticipated movie for the rest of 2023. If what I fear is true, Wish is the only thing standing between the future of Walt Disney Animation Studios and utter destruction.
And I must see to it that Wish not be the death knell for Walt Disney Animation Studios and more so it’s saving grace.
That’s what I’m trying to get at with why I believe Wish’s success has everything to do with Tiana being hand-drawn animated and why it must not fail or else we’ll lose that.

To me, it almost looks like the type of animation that was big in the 1960s for TV animated specials. But what do I know?
