When it comes to non-Disney. (I don't remember if I posted this yet already)...I collect the Friends season DVDs (currently 1-7). I also collect CSI (Las Vegas only, currently 1-3). Finally, I'm off to buy E.R. season 1 and 2 today (If I can still find season 1 that is)...Not sure if I want to keep these though....I also have Buffy season 1-5, Angel season 1-3, Sex and the City season 1, and Dawson's Creek season 1 and 2.
I also want to start collecting 'teen queen' movies, like Confessions of a teenage drama queen, Freaky Friday, The Lizzie McGuire Movie...but I also consider other, older actors to be former teen queens, and I'd rather have their movies before Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, i.e. Rachel Leigh Cook. To many movies! *Sigh* I guess I'd better get to work to fund my addiction. I always say I want to collect more movies, but I end up keeping within my Disney means (with the occasional Harry Potter or Star Wars movie thrown in the mix.)

Since we are branching off topic, the non-disney collections I have are:
~ Legos! I have Castle, Town, Train, Wild West (mostly just native american sets), Divers, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates. They made Mickey Mouse Legos (which I was excited to see!) but it was the 5 year old sets that only use big bricks.
~ DVDs - Harry Potter, Muppets, (though they are Disney now), 10th Kingdom
I guess that's it. I'll post again if I think of more...
Oh yeah! I forgot on my other list:
~ Disney Board games! I have Disney Trivia, a Trivia add-on pack (though the same questions were reused for Trivia 2) Trivia 2: the sequel, Disney Charades (one of the greatest Disney board games ever!
), Disney Monopoly. I want to get WDW Clue and Monopoly, but they're very expensive and you can only order them online or buy them at the parks.

I collect all of the Disney Classic animated flicks on DVD, preferably Platinum/Masterpice editions, except my favorite: The Little Mermaid, which I am stalking down a copy of the Limited issue (as well as buying the Platinum when available). Anyways I only have 3 out of the 7 (that are out) that I want:
Sleeping Beauty (Masterpiece Edition)
The Lion King (Platinum Edition)
Peter Pan (Special Edition)
I need to get:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Platinum Edition)
Beauty and the Beast (Platinum Edition)
Alice in Wonderlan (Masterpiece Edition)
Lady and the Tramp (Limited Issue)
and finally.... when they come out, I'm getting
Cinderella (Platinum Edition)
The Jungle Book (Platinum Edition)
Aladdin (Platinum Edition)
Mary Poppins (40th Anniversery)
whoo! So yeah I collect those.

Re: What do you Collect?
I wanted to bump up this topic. So many of us collect Disney (and other items), and most of us are grownups. How do you reconcile the fact that you're poor and should spend the $ on responsible things vs. just being a kid in a candy store, wanting to buy all the neat Disney stuff?!
A few years ago I had to start paying my student loans back, and 1/4 of my $ goes to that, and I have 4 dogs, and other living expenses, you know? But I love Pops, and I have a ginormous Disney clothing collection (if normal people call clothing a collection), and then of course the movies + soundtracks (but now I just buy new releases since I have the old ones already).
"Onward" just came out and I'm obsessed with it, so I bought 2 Pops + the sweatshirt and I think 3 t-shirts for myself and 2 t-shirts for my husband! It went on the credit card; to be fair I am getting the annual work bonus soon (omg they haven't announced it yet but every year in March we get it)! *But* one of my dogs spent the night at the ER (she's fine now) and I had to put so, so much $ on the credit card, so my bonus is mostly going towards that.
There are a couple older figurine lines, Musical Memories + Magic Memories. I only have 4, one of each for TF+tH & TBC. I'd love more, but they are on eBay/wherever; they're not made anymore. And they can be $50+! And I have other neat Disney figurines, too.
I can't spend all my $ on Disney because of life expenses! And I'd like to retire when I'm at that age, and besides my 401(k), I know I should save $, and my car needs work, etc!
So, all that to say, how do you balance being a responsible but poor adult with being a Disney fan?!

Re: What do you Collect?
I decided to to not get everything I want immediately, usually I think about it for some time and then decide if I want to buy it or not.
My main collection is Blu-rays/DVDs. I decided that if I spend my money on something, it's going to be the movies themselves. Sometimes I see Funko pops that I really want but then I decide not to get them cause IMO Collecting them is a bottomless pit where all my money would go. I have few - the Enchanted Rose, Belle and Beast with birds, Earth Day WALL-E and EVE, Shark head Maui, a Mystery Mini of Moana where she dressed as a bait, a Rock Candy of Moana (the real one, not the RBTI one) and a Rock Candy of Maleficent.
I also have the Disney Traditions Beauty and the Beast statue, and the Disney Store Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chip.
I also have the art books of Beauty and the Beast, Moana and Frozen.
Anyway I don't plan to get anymore Funko pops (but I still like seeing them announced) and I'm pretty much focused on Blu-rays only.

Re: What do you Collect?
I'm literally at Target now, getting basic household stuff/food, and um Pops are Buy 2 Get 1 Free. I'm digging through. Nothing so far that's calling me too much, but I don't have your willpower!
I buy Disney books too...
*edit* They have adult F2 Elsa. Still digging for Anna...now, I'm not usually this bad and I should be out of debt besides student loan/mortgage this year. But yeah, your willpower is awesome!
*edit* Your willpower has influenced me to get no Pops. It's either Anna + Elsa or none.

Re: What do you Collect?
My financial woes have been hitting me pretty hard, enough so that I had to sell my collection of Funko's Disney Movie Moments. I had all of the ones they did aside from the Hocus Pocus one, because I'm just not a big fan of the movie. I thought about keeping the Nightmare Before Christmas ones, because it's my very favorite, and they're all quite lovely, but they're also a significant portion of the collection, so I ended up doing so.
I'm considering if I should also sell all of my Disney Treasures boxes. I have all of them, from Funko's original run to the Hot Topic releases, and even the first year's special silver Steamboat Willie. I feel like I should wait for the collector's value to go up on them in a few years, but I also worry about the Funko market crashing at some point. There doesn't seem to be any signs of it doing so yet, but it's not out of the question.
I'm a collector at heart, and I have all of the animated and Pixar movies on Blu that are available (barring Sword in the Stone, due to its terrible remaster) + a bunch of live-action DVDs and Blus of choice, a handful of Disney related books, and all of the Carl Barks and Don Rosa collections Fantagraphics have released thus far, for instance. But now is a rough time for me, so I'm slowing down on everything.

Re: What do you Collect?
Yeah, there are a lot of figurines and books over the years I've wanted--some I still plan to get if I ever have the money--that I couldn't justify at the time. I pretty much collect Funko only because real figurines are around $40 a piece, so... I don't buy multiple releases of the films, unless they're a particularly special release (like a beautiful cover or fixed restoration) or film (like The Little Mermaid, Hercules, etc.). I'm fine with one version of most films on DVD and now Blu-ray.
There are lots of books I've wanted that I still haven't got. Like The Story of Ariel and The Story of Tiana children's books with the well-done artwork, or those Disney Animated Classic books with all the concept art for each film... I try to justify a lot of things to myself by hoping I'll be dead before 60.
The way the world's going now, I wouldn't want to still be here anyway.
I had actually thought about re-selling Funko if things got really bad before. Some of them are priced outrageously now on Amazon/ebay. Of course all mine are opened and a lot of people prefer to have theirs to never have been taken out of the box.

Re: What do you Collect?
^ You guys, I have had to sell my Disney Collections before, bar a few pieces, so I know how much it sucks. I, too, have thought about selling Pops if I'm desperate, and mine are out of the box, too. That's why it's one thing to think about: as happy as it makes us, it's just stuff. Paying bills has to come first.
It's an interesting thing, being an adult collector. I have a co-worker who collects purses, there are people who collect coins, Harry Potter, The Beatles, you name it. And we know it's just stuff, but it's something that we spend our time doing...I mean, with Disney, the stuff is a reflection of our love of the movies, etc...but it can get expensive, but ShopDisney, Hot Topic, etc, send us emails: Oh, look what's new, buy buy buy!

Re: What do you Collect?
My main Disney collection is about:
Disney pins
Disney WDCC porcelain figurines
"Art, facts and making of" books regarding the movies/theme parks, Walt Disney and more.
And I casually buy Blu-ray and DVD of the movies I am missing, and some Funko Pops figurines.
Outside of Disney I collect sealed Pokémon TCG products and PSA 9 and 10 graded cards, mainly older stuff from 1996-2010.

Re: What do you Collect?
I have autism, which means two things - I'm obsessed with Disney, and I'm not so good at living on my own, yet. So I collect lots of Disney, but still live with my parents, though they are helping me be on my way to living on my own someday. I used to collect Disney stuff for all the films I like, but now I limit it to either all Cinderella or stuff that is just so amazing from all my most favorite films I have to get it.
I collect:
- Disney movies I like on Blu-ray, sometimes steelbooks or special slipcovers, and if the DVD's have covers I want, those, two.
-Disney books - often children's books that have illustrations I like. Maybe that sounds too childish, or ordinary, but guys, seriously, some of the illustrations are pretty nice, and the reasons I want them is because a) they have more artwork that are either artistic representations or completely accurate versions of the movie, like even more of the movie I can see, and b) they capture my favorite movie scenes in a book for me to look over for a long time anytime I want. Also, I collect books about the making of my favorite Disney films, namely Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, but if they did The Little Mermaid I would get it, and I may get the Beauty and the Beast one someday. I also want the Disney Animated Classics book with concept art, animation drawings and film frames from the film for Cinderella, to go with the Sleeping Beauty one I got as a gift, and I have The Art of Disney Costuming.
-Disney statues. I bought Cinderella's coach, castle, her transformation scene and her dancing with the Prince from The Walt Disney Classics Collection statues. Those are what I consider sophisticated, nice things, and yes, they are expensive, but that's kind of the point.
- Disney dolls. I have The Signature Collection dolls of Cinderella, Maleficent, and Ursula. I have Classic Dolls from the Disney Store of Cinderella, maybe even two, I can't remember, in her ballgown and one in her rags that sings "A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes"! I also have Prince Charming and Aurora Classic Dolls from the Disney Store. I love the Aurora one because they did her spiral curl bangs just right. I also have Cinderella, Prince Charming, The Fairy Godmother, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella in a box set from the Disney Store, I have the live-action dolls of Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother from the Disney Store, as well as a 17 inch one of Cinderella that was highly expensive, and Mattel's live-action dolls of ball Cinderella, wedding Cinderella, ball Lady Tremaine, and the Fairy Godmother. Then, I have the Fairytale Designer Cinderella and Prince Charming ball dolls and Cinderella and Lady Tremaine tear up her dress before the ball dolls. I also have a very detailed Cinderella in rags 70th Anniversary doll, and the Saks Fifth Avenue Cinderella in her SILVER ballgown Collector doll which I just got recently and am in love with. I plan to get the Cinderella and Prince Charming 70th Anniversary wedding dolls. I stayed up till 10 am to buy those and the rags Cinderella online, but they were too expensive together, and when I tried to get just rags Cinderella, both her the wedding dolls were sold out! Then, so was Disney Store's rags doll! Thank God for eBay!
- Disney objects. I have the Disney store animated Cinderella glass slipper, but with a frosted heart, so I got one more movie accurate by not having a frosted heart, and having the royal purple pillow with it. I have the Cinderella film storybook jewelry box, and the Cinderella film storybook journal. I have the Beauty and the Beast live-action Beast's enchanted book journal, because that thing has an amazing rococo cover. I also have a Disney Store Ursula magic nautilus shell toy that glows, sings with Ariel's voice, and can record other voices!
I can only afford this stuff now, before I have to live in some piss poor apartment and spend all my money on food and bills, lol.

DisneyBluLife, how do you display/keep your pins?
Everyone else, how do you display/keep your figurines + dolls?
Besides my clothes + some stuffed animals in a closet (I used to collect stuffed animals but had to get rid of most of them when moving almost a decade ago)(I also used to have a smallish Disney Barbie collection that I sold), my collection:

I'm in a transitional phase right now, moving back into my mother's house while I save up for something bigger and better, so most of my collections are being stored. I have some ideas of how I want to display most of my items, though.
And I too prefer to open up my Pops. They look in-prisoned being stuck in their boxes, although I do try to keep some of the rarer/more exclusive ones in their boxes.

I put my pops on various shelves. Some are lined in front of movies, video games, or books, others are on a shelf by themselves. Most of my merchandise is in a spare room I rarely go in, so I don't have to dust very often.blackcauldron85 wrote:DisneyBluLife, how do you display/keep your pins?

I have the same problem, I so relate to you blackcauldron85. Whats worse is I too have autism(Asperger's) and I live with my mom, but she is on early stages of dementia so now Im the one taking care of her half the time, and expenses always get worse every year. Along with that we live in a small apartment and I am just plain running out of SPACE! I have everything from dolls, figurines, Funkos, pvcs, books and I dont just collect Disney, I collect animal figures, dinosaur figures, dragons, unicorns and other mythical creatures, and all kinds of fashion dolls: Barbie, Monster High(RIP), Ever After High(RIP), some Japanese fashion dolls, along with the Disney dolls of course. Oh and Harry Potter, but just the Funko mystery minis and some of the creature POPS.
let me tell you EBAY IS A LIFESAVER, yeah it makes you want to tear your hair out half the time, and the fees are highway robbery but its the only way I can sometimes unload some of my older stuff while getting back at least some of the value I paid for it, I cant really do that with a garage sale or Craig's list.

I don't really display my Disney collection so much as put it wherever I can in my room, and whatever doesn't fit is stored in my basement. When I finally get my own place, then I will display my stuff, probably using some kind of shelving. But I always keep stuff that came in a box in the box, unless the box got damaged and look bad, as is the case with some Disney World Cinderella figures I once impulse-bought. Never will I cram something I bought in a travel bag again! lol

^thanks guys...she's doing well... but I'm worried about coronavirus so I'm being really careful about keeping everything clean.

yeah b/c Ebay charges a fee on shipping. They didn't use to but some greedy bad apples started overcharging shipping and now eBay uses that as an excuse so they can be the ones to rip the sellers off.Word of advice to anyone: don't undercharge & lose $ on shipping!

Re: What do you Collect?
Oh, well, I don't mind with eBay shipping, but I have never shipped anything myself so maybe that would change my mind.
I forgot to say, blackcauldron85, nice collection! I loved looking at it! I love that ultra-rare Enchanted snow globe!
