I think the "Disney Presents" is just David Silverman and the Simpsons writers being cheeky, rather than a corporate mandate. It feels very much in line with the kind of wink-to-the-audience meta humour the show is known for.

There was a pre-screening on my local theater yesterday of the movie (belive it or not). Usually Norwegian releases happens to come later than Domestic releases, but Onward will actually face a simultaneous release as the Domestic one. I saw the movie yesterday and I liked it. It wasn't perhaps Pixar at it's very best, but it was still an enjoyable romp that Pixar is known for. Otherwise, there's really not much to say about the movie, but it was well animated, written and brilliant voice acting.

It seems the advance screenings are doing well:

My pleasure ;) It's just a pity that I don't have much to say about it. I hope you'll like it too ;)

Oh wow, I had no idea this film already came out. I should have known better too since I remember it was early March. This is the first time a Disney/Pixar release has blown right past me and I haven't seen much promotion for it on TV either.

Well, officially it doesn't come out until this Friday, but there have been some advance screenings. That's why some people have already seen it. Disney probably did this in hopes for word-of-mouth to spread.

This past Saturday, I received an email from Disney about an advanced screening on Sunday; it linked me to Fandango, but the page wouldn't load. We already had pre-ordered our tickets for this Friday, anyway...

I'm not sure, given that I don't speak Swedish, but could this be the Swedish voice cast for the main roles?

I'm going to see it in an hour and I'm a little bit excited cause the last time we had a Pixar original was back in November 2020.

That explains it, thanks for clearing that up.

I just saw the movie tonight (we often get the movie released two days earlier in France). It really affected me. There's a lot more in this movie than what meets the eye when you consider all the promotion around the film. If you have the feeling this movie is just an average Dreamworks-like film (but this time made by Pixar) it's because they hid from you what concepts this movie is going to explore and kept the best surprises for when you'll be watching the film. It's deeper than what you'd expect: the characters are more complex and well-written than what seemingly appears in the trailers. Barley makes my heart melt. It is emotional yes, but also very smart in the way it is emotional. It is Coco-level, but maybe even less self-indulgent. It's intelligent. That kind of emotional also works better on me than 'Up' does.

If it doesn't get the same Box Office success as other Pixar releases, I can definitively imagine this movie becoming a Pixar classic for some. I'm happy they finally succeeded in making this 'Reign of the Dinosaurs' concept possible. I'm glad they didn't totally fall for the fantasy aspect because it allowed them to tell the story in a better way.

I really like it. A good Pixar film. Easy in the best half of movies made by Pixar in my personal ranking.

When it comes to animation, in several cases, it seems that Disney still got it. Whether it is Pixar or WDAS (definitively more mature/adult than the live-action films).
Makes me also think that 2020 is going to be a much sweeter year than 2019 was when it comes to theatrical Disney releases.

I'm glad to hear you also liked it, farerb, and that you even consider it among the best half of Pixar movies, Clindor. That makes me even more excited to see it. Unfortunately, my car broke down and it's being repaired, so I don't know if I'll be able to see it tomorrow as I had planned. Buy either way, I'll see it soon.

I saw it tonight. This was an exceptional movie. Funny, clever, and emotional. The fantasy as suburbia thing is the whole point. That's what's so funny about the setting. And it works. It has this theme of lost magic that is integral. The characters are all likeable or loveable. I don't know what reviewers were talking about when they said this didn't have all the Pixar magic and was predictable. This had tons of great story-telling and emotional magic and I didn't see anything coming. I certainly didn't see the way they did the ending coming, and there were lots of sniffles and crying in the audience around me. I almost cried, but didn't, probably because my depression prevents me from feeling as emotional as I used to. But this film certainly affected me. This is one of Pixar's best efforts, and one of my favorite films of theirs. Actually, now that I think about it, with the fantasy and the characters and the powerfulness, it may be my favorite. If not, it's up there with The Incredibles and the two Finding Nemo films as my very favorites. See it.
