Wow this concept art is really quite good and has reinvigorated some of my interest in this film. I love those banners as well and hope they have more influence on the book's tone than expected.

Yeah, I'd love if it had a hard fantasy tone and aesthetic. But from the trailers we know it won't.

To be honest, this newest trailer is just a mess. I like the fantastical aspects, but the Magic song from The Cars at the beginning is just misplaced and makes the tone more jarring than it needs to be (it would've suited better in a Disney Channel trailer than in a Pixar trailer). The same could be said about the last part of the trailer, where all the blatant jokes are just showed in your face in a row.

I don't get why this is a fantastical setting, a modern setting and an 80's setting.

Still just Four voice actors attached and Ratzenberger as expected.

Maybe three will be very few characters ?

Sadly the dad will be mute because of course.

i assume no bad guy in this movie either ?

Pixar was the once who start the twist bad guy thing and then got infected and weaken the Walt Disney animation studio movies too.

So you partly have Puixar "thank" for the death of thg big secen stealing m,eorable Disney villlian.

Yet on more thing too add to the list of John Lasseters sins.

You know maybe we were all a bit too hard hon Michael Eisnerinr hindsight ?

At leat Eisnerinr didn't sexually harasss employes and sstped Disney villians from bein a thing. :|

I definitely consider Eisner better than Lasseter, but I thought that even before the sexual harassment story happened. Eisner never pretended he was a new Walt Disney or completely diverted the main animation company's way of doing things the way Lasseter did, even if he introduced the horrible DTV sequels. I consider Eisner slightly better than Iger, too, considering Lasseter's takeover of WDAS and the sabotage / end of hand-drawn animation happened on Iger's watch--and the re-makes weren't any better than the DTV sequels as far as unfettered greed goes either, although I'd agree the DTV sequels were more damaging to the original films and hand-drawn animation in general.

Is it an '80s setting though? They have smartphones. The elder brother and his van have an '80s styling to them but that's about it. Unless you're talking about the Weekend at Bernie's references and the overall buddy comedy genre that was popularized during that time.

As for the new trailer, it doesn't offer anything new; just more of the same. I wish I could say something nice about this movie but nothing about it appeals to me. Not the character designs, not the characterization and relationship dynamic of the leads, not the voice acting (Pratt and Holland are playing themselves), not the way the fantastical setting is treated as window dressing and played for cheap laughs, not the juvenile humor, not the tasteless half body gags, not the road trip aspect, not the sob story of the younger brother never having met his dad nor the canned sentimentality of the inevitable reunion scene during the film's third act.

I'm sure the film will be pleasant and entertaining but that's not enough for me. I understand that people love the Pixar formula and feel the studio should stick with it given its success but I was never particularly fond of it to begin with and with each passing film I grow more and more weary of it.

I have to confess that I've lowered my expectations for this film a bit since the first teaser because, as someone here pointed out, the release date might indicate that Disney doesn't have much faith in it. But I loved everything from the previous trailer: the urban-fantasy setting, the adventure aspect, the gag at the end and even the weird elements. This new trailer wasn't as good as the last one in my opinion, but I really liked it too. So, I'm still really excited for this film and I hope it's another case like Zootopia (in which the executives underestimated the product) and not a new The Good Dinosaur. I like The Good Dinosaur, but I agree with the majority that they could've made a better film with that premise.

Well, yes, it's the title for Latin America. In Spain the title is the same as in the US, at least for now.

I was also a bit confused about that, but I guess Sotiris is right and it's just the elder brother who is a fan of that decade. The trailers also give an '80s vibe thanks to the music, and I think the fantasy elements in the movie are partially inspired by fantasy films from the '80s as well.

Japanese poster and trailer. Unsurprisingly, this trailer is the best one yet.

^Thanks, Sotiris! I love that poster. And the trailer is great too. I wish there was an English version, so we could understand what they say.

Better, but this film still feels generic, which I feel most CGI films are nowadays.
