I adored this movie for 30 years since i was 5 years old when it first came out in my city 4 times in theaters and even saw the 92 re-issue when i was 10 going on 11 and even got it for Christmas when i was 11 on video.

One of my favorite Disney animated movies! nice script, animation, ideas and i had a crush on Miss Kitty Mouse for she is the sexiest rodent i've seen next to Gadget when i was a kid as i remembered as a 5 year old myself when i saw her on the big screen blushing, lol.

Got this on bluray.

I can say this movie turned a lot of kids furry, before they even knew the word. And it was all because of Basil, Ratigan, and Miss Kitty. You do have to admit Vincent Price really makes Ratigan a smooth operator, while Basil is a very strapping gent.

I love Vincent Price and there are a couple of great scenes/songs, but I'll be honest the only reason I enjoy this movie is Basil. Similar to Jim Hawkins and Treasure Planet for me.

neat video! wish theyd do one for Oliver & Co. I like that we're getting all this neat BTS stuff with animators and other creators for these less popular 2d films... wonder why we're getting stuff like this so much all of a sudden. Is this and the Hercules muses Zero to Hero BTS video officially Disney released or just people who worked on the film coming together to do it b/c they want to?

Both were officially released by Disney. The Hercules video through their official "Oh My Disney" blog and this one through their Facebook account. I'm also surprised we're getting all of this lately, especially because Disney usually never cares for these less popular classics. I hope they keep releasing stuff like this for more of these films.

I didn't even think a logo for the original title existed! Nice find, Sotiris! Not only was the original title much better than the one we got, but so was the logo, in my opinion. It's much more interesting than the final one.

That was a better title than the one the film ended up with, imo.

On this date 35 years ago, “The Great Mouse Detective” was released! For the anniversary we’re sharing this photo of John Musker, one of the directors and writers of the animated film. Here, John is seen with animator models of the main characters, Ratigan, Olivia, and Basil.

What beautiful maquettes!

is it just my eyes, or does that seem like a different Ratigan design?
