Wonderful thread idea, I remember it the first time !
Here are mine :
Character:
Rapunzel. She is a brilliant character, full of charm and personality - a little bit goofy, little bit silly, positive, adventurous … a classic Disney character. She isn't sure of herself, but she still takes the risk to be confident and take control and reach her dream. Eugene was her catalyst, but it was always there in her. The complicated (and extremely damaging) relationship she has with her mother has made Rapunzel who she is; for better or worse. As I've said before, the parallels I've sometimes had with my own mother help to identify with her so much; it was really wonderfully written. She's a brilliant and classic Disney character.
Scene:
The Floating Lights scene…wow. Just wow. I had the good fortune of seeing it in the cinema in IMAX 3D; its the only time I've ever actually wanted to reach out and actually touch what was coming out of the screen it was so spectacular. To me,
that's what 3D was made for. The duet, the lush scenery, the score .. all a perfect Disney moment !
Song:
When Will My Life Begin (& all Reprises). I love this song; I know it isn't the most popular as it isn't a traditional Disney Princess song, but I love it. I love the sentiment and how the song is structured. The brief (cut) reprise when Rapunzel is gazing out of her tower is heartbreaking, and when she finally sets her feet on the ground for the first time …. then the song becomes more 'Disney' if you will, with the huge climax and the beautiful shot of her in the forest.
I adore this film, and its my second favourite Disney of all time (behind Mermaid, which I don't think can ever / will ever be moved from that spot

) but it comes a jolly close second.
