Them being small all the time and becoming bigger to hide Aurora doesn't say "change to be more like the animated film" to me, but I see what you were saying.
Yeah, that's exactly what it says. Because that's what happens in the 1959 film. As opposed to all fairies being human sized which was the original plan.
I bet the leaked script forgot to say they changed their wings and pointed ears while hiding Aurora.
They hid them under peasant clothes. That's in the script.
And the christening scene in the final film actually is about as close to the animated film as the leaked script was because even if the christening scene now has more dialogue like animated film, the leaked script had Maleficent appearing and disappearing in flames, the curse to die, and the blue fairy giving the gift of true love's kiss to awaken her, none of which made it into the final film, sadly.
About as close? Hardly. The dialogue is everything. And that was completely changed to borrow from the film. Um, yes Maleficent made a curse. That's in just about every iteration of the Sleeping Beauty story. Because that's what the Sleeping Beauty story is about. Maleficent performing a curse shouldn't make anyone think 'oh, they're doing it just like the animated film.'
That's like saying the Drew Carey live action Pinocchio is borrowing directly from the Disney film cuz he plays a toymaker that makes a puppet boy that becomes real.
