Thanks.
I actually don't like it when they do that too, like they've done on recent animated classics re-releases. I just wish they'd leave it at the original theatrical aspect ratio (or release both animated ratio and theatrical ratio for animated films).
Anyway, that's another topic.
It's about content, not packaging.
Re: HD 1080p Disney Films - Online Digital Downloads Only
I've recently been looking at this, and there's a few more movies that are now available in 1080p:
The Great Locomotive Chase
Monkey's go home
What I most like about these iTunes releases, is that movies that had only been released pan&scan on dvd, now get proper widescreen transfers. At least closer to the original theatrical ratios.
In that respect I've been looking at Son of Flubber, The Gnome Mobile and Babes in Toyland.
Especially the last one has great picture quality (probably because it's out on Blu ray too) and it proves the dvd was a mix of open matte and pan&scan.
The other two were almost unwatchable pan&scans on dvd, and look much better on iTunes. I am glad to have better prints of these films now.
There are also some movies that I do not yet own on any format (most of them because they were only released as DMC exclusives), but that I would like to have.
I am, for example, holding of on buying movies like Westward Ho The Wagons, as it's currently only available in SD pan&scan (like the DMC dvd) But chances are it will get a HD (hopefully widescreen) iTunes version some time soon, as did other DMC exclusives (Emil and the Detectives, Littlest Outlaw)
Is there any way to find out when Disney movies will be upgraded/released on iTunes to HD (and probably the correct aspect ratio)? Something like a release schedule?
Or do we have to keep checking?

Very surprised to see this one on there, as Disney hasn't even released this to DVD in R1. I have a copy of the R2 DVD, and it's a good little film. Not perfect, but I've seen much worse. I keep hoping Mill Creek will resume their releases of Buena Vista titles and finally bring this one to DVD and Blu-Ray in the US, but at this point, I'm not holding my breath.emotionboy wrote:411. 1998 - Firelight (Hollywood) https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/firelight/id443795006
