The Horned King is one of the darkest Disney Villains ever. The Black Cauldron is worth seeing just to enjoy this villain. If you like 80's cartoons, he reminds you of Skeletor from He-Man or the villain from Thundercats (who's name escapes me right now). As for the film itself, I think its' vastly underrated and underappreciated. I keep hoping they'll release the definitive disc version that includes all of the legendary deleted scenes. Do yourself a favor and watch this film. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
It's hard to make this a top-ten, cause over the years, I see new villains and my views of how I see characters change. But I will provide the ones I do like most, without any type of ranking whatsoever (not fair to this post, but yet again, was a top 10 ever fair?):
Frollo (Creepy man. Violent man. Tony Jay.)
Dr. Facilier (Keith David's performance: awesome!)
Maleficent (A villain that can legitimately scare anyone, even the bravest of all men. Also, dat Dragon. Don't care if it's only a minute or 2, dat f*cking dragon!)
The Stepmother from "Cinderella" (same voice as Maleficent. Intimidating.)
Jafar (not threatening, but certainly a joy to watch thanks to John Freeman's performance.)
Scar (Jeffery Irons, you've done it again!)
MAN from "Bambi" (that's right: us. We normal sport hunters are the villains! ... Didn't think we'd be used in a very effective manner here.)
Cruella De Vil (a joy to watch here! GlenN Close's performance: not so.)
The Horned King (he didn't do much, but had it not been for John Hurt, though...)
Izma (need I say more? Funnier with Kronk)
Hades (the main thing I like is James Woods's performance. Everything else: not threatening or that interesting.)
... what, I can't list 11 instead of 10? ... What do you mean "Man" can't count?! Couldn't be helped that the few hunters in this film had to be d*cks to the forest!
In essence, my personal favorites, though, would be a tie between Frollo and Maleficent.
... Sh*t, almost forgot McLeech! That guy should be recognized more! (George C. Scott, we salute you!)
... again, can't believe I had to let it slide: Ratigan! Vincent Price performed perfectly here!
This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?
1. Horned King - Not the best written and goes out like a punk, but man, there's just something about him...

5. Ratigan- Great Mouse Detective (voice actor does it for me)
6. Hades
7. Maleficent
8. Queen of Hearts
9. Dr. Facilier-Princess and the Frog (he's this low cause he arrived late)
