Based on the trailer and
this article from Polygon, this looks to be a fun, kinetic game that requires a lot of creative movement. Actually, it reminds me of Figment's Melody Maker at the Imageworks "What If?" Labs in Epcot's Journey to Imagination. In the Melody Maker, where you position your hands and how you move them determine the melody of particular instruments.
I always saw Walt Disney's
Fantasia as the exploration of music through different experiences, the primary one being animation. I can see why the game makers decided to call this game "Fantasia: Music Evolved," as it looks like it's generally following that direction. I doubt they intended to stomp on the legacy of 1940 film (or, by extension, the 1999 film).
For now, I'll just wait until I have an opportunity to play this game before I pass judgment on it. I'm no gamer, but I would really like to try out a few songs.
