Yeah, naming a villain after its author is not that insulting. I think it's nice. Besides, it's not as bad as:

Making a good guy in real life, and a VERY close friend to Anastasia a her family in real life, to a villain
Um, interpretations may differ of course but I don't think Rasputin is regarded as a good guy. Also doubt that he was a friend to the historical Anastasia, her only being a young girl, but he was indeed a close associate of the Romanovs.

We are going off on a tangent here but I always felt that Rasputin was a rather unnecessary villain. They could have avoided this bit of historical inaccuracy without harming the story.

Rasputin=good guy? really? what?
I think you need to learn Russian history...
I think making him the villain of the movie was a great choice

I mean, i know that he was a healer and an advisor, which was a great addition for the movie and it was honestly a good idea, but could be insulting though

Yes we are off-topic, but I would just like to say that having Rasputin as the villain in "Anastasia" works because, as history recounts, his involvement with the family indirectly led to their undoing.

Sorry to get off topic but Rasputin is also the villain in Hellboy. Here's the wikipedia link to the Real Rasputin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grigori_Rasputin

now to get back on topic...

I'm going to need to read up on who the villain is for The Snow Queen/Frozen. I've been kinda lazy in following this story. I do think the name change is extremely stupid. But at this point all the complaining in the world won't change it so I digress.

I hope the villain is much more like Jafar or Ursula than Gothel.

Also when does this come out. I've been very slow at reading this news, so I'll probably look at the info in this thread later.

EDIT so I don't have to through hundreds of pages, could someone post a synopsis update of Frozen and the differ characters including the villain?

Basically, the story revolves around two princesses, Anna and Elsa. Elsa has the power to control ice which troubles her due to the existence of a prophecy that there will emerge a ruler with a frozen heart. One day, Elsa inadvertently unleashes her powers, plunging the realm into winter. She then flees and barricades herself somewhere else. Anna, with the help of a man named Kristoff goes to find her.

Also involved are a snowman named Olaf, a reindeer named Sven and a prince named Hans though we have next to no information about either of them.

Elsa, The Snow Queen, will probably be serving as the 'villain'.

And yes, Frozen is taking significant liberties with the source material. The Snow Queen here is not exactly meant to be the same as The Snow Queen in the original fairy tale, from the info given, she seems to be taking the role of Kai. Anna is of course taking the role of Gerda.

Thank you So Much. I'll have to read the original story. It sounds good. Perhaps the chemistry with Elsa and Anna will be like Moses and Ramses From The Prince of Egypt.

Elsa flies away and hides from the world with a good intention : she thinks SHE is the cold ruler the prophecy talks about and wants to avoid that cruel fate. In doing this, she will indeed becomes a kind of ruler (queen) who is cold (both meanings, winter power and hardened solitary rejected heart...). All that has been written by people who were present at the special Disney exhibit. But we all can guess that by the end, redemption will happen, she will go back to warmess and kindness. I think it is no spoiling to imagine her return in a sunny spring kingdom with the love of her sister and so... MY personal supposition is that THE REAL cold ruler, mean and forever frozen heart , might be another character, cruel, a real villain with some power, a prince for instance, THAT Hans prince ??? Personal supposition.

I wouldn't count on it, since the Snow Queen is now a misunderstood character (she's less of a villain than even Beast in B&tB). It's bizarre that since TP&TF onwards, Disney's villains have been so bland--considering villains were always their strongest characters in the past.

I wouldn't bother, really.

The biggest reason I love Princess and The Frog is because of Facilier. I'd say the most menacing villain since then has to be Lotso and the villain from Wreck-It-Ralph.

More precisions in those portraits below, from wikia, but does it come from any real official source ? (Strange to think the good and joyful Anna is going to have a cold heart too at a point. The crowning scene anyway really seems to be a big one, emotional dramatic i guess ;-))

" Anna is a member of a royal family and the younger sister of Elsa. Whilst Elsa is known to be both beautiful and elegant and is loved by the townspeople, Anna remains as some what of a free spirit. Elsa is both a queen in mind manner and appearance whilst Anna is happy to play the fun-loving younger sister role. Anna has a very close relationship with her elder sister until this bond is shattered by Anna messing up at Elsa's crowning. "
" Princess Elsa begins as the beautiful heir to the kingdom (Whereabouts unknown) and elder sister to the films protagonist, Princess Anna. Elsa shares a close bond with her free-spirited younger sibling, however this is shattered when Anna messes up at Elsa's crowning. Elsa then places a frozen curse on her kingdom, trapping it into an eternal winter and goes into selfimposed exile. To rule the kingdom, Elsa put a curse on her sister, Anna to have a cold heart."

:D

See I am looking at more and more influence of Wicked in this film as time goes by.You know if this gets popular they should turn this into a Broadway Musical in the style of Wicked.I hope Elsa proves to be a great character and I have hopes that Anna will prove to be a great main character as well.

I have a feeling that Anna will become the decoy protagonist as time goes on and that the real star will be Elsa.Since Elsa would technically become queen doesn't that mean that Disney will getting another queen this time.I know Anna is a princess but Elsa being a queen will make Disney have its cake and eat it.Elsa will be a queen playing a more active role in this movie.Plus she will be not solely a villain but I think a mistunderstood person.
