Since when is 15 too young?

Hey, if you feel you're not ready, you're not ready. But that has little to do with age.

I hope you at least seek out the good porn. :P

You need to get out more often.

I've never met a psychopath, so I can't comment on whether I prefer them.
I don't think you'd want to meet one.

The way I see it, religion and faith are two different things. Faith is the belief that there is something grand and with deeper meaning in life. To me, religion RESTRICTS faith and tries to mold it into an uniformed mentality, which is something I hate. Like I said, I am technically a "Christian" that believes in God and Jesus, but I don't like religion, I don't like going to church and I don't like the Bible as being the "ALL MIGHTY RULE BOOK".

Like I said earlier, I believe in love as being a powerful decision, and the sad thing is that many religions restrict how far we are willing to love our fellow human beings, no matter how different they may be. I just don't want to be put in the same category as the religious nutcases because I decided to followed a faith that makes sense to me and just me.
Well put.

Too young to star in it, certainly.

I'm honestly a little bothered by this extremely generalized statement. At 15 years old, you are far too young to be this cynical. I am obviously not sure if something tragic happened in your life to create such a negative attitude in your psyche, but please do not own this mentality.

I'm "only" 17, but am also able to realize the good in the "normal human being" and see that they are not as stupid as you've made them out to be. I understand that the Dawson Leery persona exists in most adolescents; I even aspired to be like him (the whole filmmaking thing got to me) when I was a bit younger.

Maybe a little bit of faith would do you good.

Nah, I was watching softcore on tv when I was 14. And I just read a survey on this subject in another (Dutch) forum and most participants said they were around that age when they first watched porn. I think the age has dropped significantly since it became more easily available through the internet. I just hope it won't mess up kids' perception of sexuality and that they'll still be able to see the difference between fiction (porn) and reality. Though that kinda goes for all fictional media...

On a regular basis, or for the first time?

Because I'm sure most American kids "find" themselves access to video pornography earlier than that on average. And magazines- much earlier than 14.

For the first time. Every friday and saturday night, regular commercial tv channels would show softcore porn around midnight. (One of the benefits of living in Holland. :P Though they don't show that anymore. They 'only' air commercials for escort services and phone-sex lines.) And I had my own little tv in my bedroom, so I would secretely watch. Now I've seen so much 'real' porn that I wonder how I ever could have gotten aroused by that soft stuff with those silly storylines!

Maybe nowadays kids see it at an earlier age because of the internet. Although, like I said, I was reading a Dutch forum an saw a thread on this subject and so many said they couldn't find free porn and thus were watching only the 1-minute trailers on pay-sites. rotfl

I was speaking strictly from a legal standpoint. :p There's a reason that certain websites and stores show documentation up front that explicitly state they're only for ages 18 and over.

Not saying that younger people can't and don't go around that; they obviously do . . . I just know that if I was underage, I wouldn't be bragging about watching porn in the first place. ;)

Do you guys really find porn all that arousing? Most of what I've seen (and I haven't seen a lot) seems silly and degrading to those involved especially the woman. And I do think it's kind of beneath one's human dignity to be sitting at a computer, masturbating, with your pants around your ankles when you could be out there and in a real relationship.....but that's just my take! No offense to those who enjoy watching porn and masturbating.

Thanks, SA, but I've seen enough to get the general idea. I just don't find it that arousing. I'd rather be with my boyfriend. But to each his own! I was just surprised so many here are into it....and at such young ages.

Er... porn is 'non-fiction'? :headshake:

Porn is complete fiction. In real life, fat bald guys don't get jumped on by 18 year old cheerleaders/schoolgirls/waitresses etc. In real life, a girl doesn't engage in a gangbang with 20 men in order to earn herself a reward. In real life, not all men have sixpacks and more muscles than I can count and not all women are incredibly slender and hot. If you think porn has anything to do with reality, you've got a problem. ;)

What's not dignified about masturbating? Do you have an actual reason for this statement? I believe 90% of all people do it. Since it's your body and your pleasure, I can't see how it is 'undignified'.

Also, what makes you think one excludes the other? You think that people who are in a relationship stop masturbating? Not from what I hear/read from others. Your boy/girlfriend won't be around all the time; or sometimes he/she will not be in the mood to have sex. So what does one do then? Exactly.

Besides, some people prefer to not be in a relationship. Or they do, but they simply aren't in one at the moment. You can't just snap your finger and be in one. Yes, you can go out there and meet people and try to get into one. But again, one doesn't exclude the other.

As for porn: is it degrading? Tough to say. There's many kinds of porn. There's very rough, hardcore, violent porn. There's also 'amateur porn', which has the look and feel of ordinary everyday sex. I can't say the latter is really degrading. It depends on whom you ask. I know women who hate it; I also know lots of women who watch it themselves.

None taken. :)

Oh, you have no idea! You should ask around among your guys friends. You'll be shocked. :D

note how I was saying "internet porn" and not "professional porn"? the amateur stuff is completely nonfiction. especially when college students are involved.

Hahahahaha! Aaaawwww, you still believe that? That's so sweet! Most of that 'college porn' is not amateur at all. Most of what you see is paid actresses pretend to be students and a professional cameraman with a hand-held shaking it on purpose to make it look like it's amateur.

That's not to say there's not a lot of amateur porn on the net. There's enough couples who upload their sexual adventures to porn sites. But most of that 'college' stuff is very fake.

And 'internet porn' is not only amateur porn. Internet porn is all kinds of porn. Most porn isn't made for dvd anymore. Most internet porn is professionally made for pay-sites, and lots of those videos get ripped and uploaded on free sites. Fortunately. :D

It doesn't surprise me in the least that porn is well watched by young people. I forget the exact statistic mentioned on the CBC documentary "Sext Up Kids" (it's a good one if you want to watch it), but it was nearly all teenaged boys. In an age where proper sex education has been reduced to nearly nothing, or nothing at all, porn gives visual "education" to the curious and an outlet to be more easily and confortably aroused in than in an actual relationship, which can be intimidating for youth. Its increasingly easy access doesn't hurt its chances with youngsters either. For gay kids I feel it's nearly mandatory as there sure is nothing on how to do it that way taught in schools.

I also agree with everything Goliath said and I feel it should also be said that I think most people (especially the smart ones, like I take the Dr and Goliath for) can at least make the distinction between the fiction of porn and the realities of a relationships and are not automatically going to forget one for the other. I also don't think it's degrading to do such a thing that does not harm others and is done within the context of the private home setting. And porn stars have to eat too, ya know (I mean actual food).

I don’t really think it’s that “educational” though. But I can kind of see where carolinakid is coming from though. If you are in a relationship, I don’t see much point for it.

I think Lazario’s is probably the quintessential not list, but I made this anyway:

1. Debt/prices you can’t afford--see college or doctors
2. Health issues
3. Gossip/backstabbing/adultery (they all go together for me)
4. Bureaucracy/government/churches--institutions, basically, though I realize anarchy doesn’t work.
5. People who take advantage
6. Dependence/inconveniencing others
7. Monotony/isolation
8. Family
9. Bad habits/addictions
10. Banks

Sombr ~ "homewrecker"
Megan Moroney ~ "Beautiful Things"

Well in terms of "where do babies come from when the stork is off duty" no, my point was more of exposure or education of any kind really outside of what most would label "porn".
