What stories would you want Disney to make as WDAS classic?

A disney movie I would pay to see is a white female protaginist with a nonwhite protaginist because of the fact that pairing hasn't been seen in a Disney movie that isn't live action.I also think that the story should be in the spirit of Othello.Hey,they did base the Lion King on Hamlet and made it a happy ending so maybe they could do the same if they adapted the story of Othello.
The interracial pairings that I have in mind are a Native American man and a white woman or a pairing involving an Irishwoman and a Chinese man during the Gold Rush(I checked my research and those kinds of pairings were common back during the gold rush).

Yea Wondy lol. The reason it would be stupid FigmentJedi is because the only reason people would want that to happen is because of their emotional attachment to that scene with the squirrel when they saw the movie without regarding that the squirrel is a seperate character from who King Arthur married according to The Sword in the Stone and that the squirrel and Quinevere are their own seperate characters with their own seperate squirrel or human lives. Would that squirrel want to be changed into a completely new identity? Would Quinevere want her true backstory to be erased?FigmentJedi wrote:Hardly stupid. Internet loves that whole concept, though the squirrel is often referred to as Hazel.Wonderlicious wrote: Unless, of course, Merlin changes the squirrel into Guinevere? An idea, I'll admit, that's a bit stupid.

Squirrels are evil bastards. I'm in agreement with Duster here.
Btw, did you get my email, Duster?

Hansel and Gretel done in the rustic style of Snow White and Pinocchio...a classic German style of architecture in the old-fashioned animation. The classics are classics for a reason...their look is timeless and I feel that Disney could reclaim its former glory by taking its time and going this route, instead of trying to be hip.

Well, I do have one idea.
...........................
The Phantom of the Opera?
Of course, it probably would be a different take on the story, even different from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. One of those elements is that the Phantom, AKA Erik, wins the heart of Christine instead of Raoul getting the girl. Has been done already (Girl choosing deformed yet goodhearted character over better looking one) with Beauty and the Beast, except Raoul would not decide to kill the Phantom.
And I'm sure you probably know my idea for a Wizard of Oz movie, except with Disney characters in the roles of the Oz characters in the spirit of the takes on A Christmas Carol and The Prince and the Pauper. But in case you don't....
Alice (Alice in Wonderland) as Dorothy
Jock (Lady and the Tramp) as Toto
Pinocchio as the Scarecrow
B.E.N. (Treasure Planet) or any other metallic Disney character as the Tin Woodsman
Louis the Alligator as the Cowardly Lion (Alligator)
Maleficent as the Wicked Witch of the West
The Fairy Godmother (Cinderella) as the Good Witch of the North
The Blue Fairy (Pinocchio) as Glinda the Good Witch of the South
Mickey Mouse as the Wizard of Oz
A little commentary on the cast and story:
- Alice seems right for the role of Dorothy because both wish to visit a world other than their own and get more than they wished for.
- I could have said Simba as the Lion, but Simba doesn't really scream 'cowardly'. If you watch The Princess and the Frog, you'd understand since Louis is a bit of a chicken.
- Just because the witch of the west is wicked doesn't mean she HAS to be ugly. Some might tend to disagree.
- Lastly, this would be more following the book (loosely if optional) than the 1939 movie. You know, kind of like how the West End/Broadway productions of Mary Poppins are more close to the books than the 1964 Disney film.

I think Andrew Lloyd Webber's got Phantom down, though I have heard the book and one other musical were better.
Why don't you make your Wizard of Oz idea a short? But I would love if Disney did the Wizard of Oz straight up. More authentic to the book. But a lot of people would be against it for stupid reasons.

I was thinking they should attempt to do another Arabian Night tale.I was thinking they would attempt to do Sinbad.I still think they should do another Middle Eastern tale because these days it would be good to have an Arabic person as a good guy. Also they will learn from their mistakes they did in Aladdin and be a little bit more accurate.

Actually Sinbad was one of the disney movies that was Disney did plan to make in the 90's, but thought people would compare it to Aladdin too much or something a long the line. This is why Jeffery Katszenburg, when he went to Dreamworks, made the movie instead.

Someone already mentioned Don Quixote. I really, really love this story, and supposedly it was going to be produced and directed by the same folks that directed the Fire Bird Suite segment on Fantasia 2000.
The problem with Don Quixote is that the story would be a nightmare to adapt. Not only is it two books long, it is filled with a lot of stories that play a big part on the whole narrative. You have Don Quixote being tricked by riding a wooden horse, Sancho being governor and the things he encounters during his position of power, all the times Don Quixote was madly in love with Dulcinea, so on and so forth. The story has an established beginning and ending, but the middle would be a pain to adapt.
Plus, as much as I love Disney, they would change the ending. The reason I love the ending in the story is because it is a beautiful representation of how dreamers live and see the world. When Don Quixote had a dream to achieve he did everything, regardless of what people told him or what they thought of him. He became sane after he was defeated by the knight and he lost everything he had, and thus died. I realize that this is depressing as all hell, but it does show the message that life is worth living when you have a dream in your heart.
Disney would likely have it so that he becomes a knight at the end, and while it would mean him getting his dream, it would lose the impact the original ending had. But still, I would love to see Disney take a crack at it, regardless if they make it dramatic or comedic.

I know they already did Sinbad in 2003 but they made him Greek instead of Arabic because they were afraid the audience wouldn't identify with an Arabian main character. It would be fun if Disney reopened the project so they can do their own version.Super Aurora wrote:jazzflower92 wrote:I was thinking they should attempt to do another Arabian Night tale.I was thinking they would attempt to do Sinbad.I still think they should do another Middle Eastern tale because these days it would be good to have an Arabic person as a good guy. Also they will learn from their mistakes they did in Aladdin and be a little bit more accurate.

On the other hand I wonder if they could ever find a way to do a Latino princess because thats one ethnicity they need to do.I know Latino culture is so rich and colorful that it would be a too much for Disney to pass.Although I think their films Saludos Amigos and Three Callberos did do a dedication to Latino cutlure however it would be fun to have a Latino country as a story rather than a proto -documentary.

I heard they didn't do Don Quixote because they they showed production art work and such to exec, they got really nervous and found the imagery pretty haunting and disturbing hence why it got selves. I heard this so I'm unsure if that was case.
another story I would lol but at same time would be interest them doing is
Dante's Inferno.
