What stories would you want Disney to make as WDAS classic?

What stories would you like to be made?

Swan Lake

It certainly wouldn't be an unusual DAC, but it could have a beautiful look, and I hate it that The Swan Princess is the only "proper" animated version that has been done. Sure the Barbie version is much closer to what I would want Disney's version to be like, but it's just not the same.

I'll be back with some other ideas

I've been thinking Swan Lake could be done as well. It could be done a la Sleeping Beauty where they use the music from the ballet and combine the pieces into a coherent score while also making some songs based on them. It will have a happy ending of course, but that would be kind of cool.

Interesting tidbit: Swan Lake was one of the projects Disney did intended to make along with Aladdin and Lion King. I think Richard Rich was one who propose it. But unfortunately it was made and Rich left taking swan lake story with him to make Swan Princess. While Swan Princess isn't best made story, I do like the design and personality of their Odette, and fact that the prince and princess grew up together to get know each other well as oppose to "love at first sight" stuff. Odette in the movie what makes me enjoy it.

Roverandom: A story by JRR Tolkien that he wrote for his son when he lost his favorite toy dog. About a puppy who gets on the bad side of a short-tempered wizard and is transformed into a living toy. He goes on adventures to the moon and under the sea to find a way to change back.

Momotaro: Japanese folktale that has Disney story written all over it, animal sidekicks and all.

Also Don Quixote, The Little Prince (which Walt wanted to do) and a Mickey movie focused around the Phantom Blot

If we're going the fairytale route, I really love "East of the Sun and West of the Moon". It's my favorite fairytale, right before "The Little Mermaid." But I'd be afraid of what they'd do to the story, and anyway I'd actually like to see something other than fairytales from Disney. Maybe an adaptation of Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn or a mystery or a high fantasy (first choice) or a sci-fi. Ooo, or a sea-going tale! I'd love to see something atypical from them. Not something like Swan Lake, which has been done twice, or The Nutcracker, which has also been done.

Katurran Odyssee- book by Terryl Witlatch.
Dracula would be nice.. Rumpelstilskin, perhaps combined with LRRidingHood to make some sort of combo- feature.. Ramayana,Emperor's Nightengale.. Need I go on?

I've heard about that. Swan Lake was apparently not greenlighted because it's story was too similar to The Little Mermaid's. I can see why the similarites would have been too stark if Disney had made Swan Lake in the 90's, but I feel that they could make it now. Well maybe not now. Enough time needs to have passed that it won't be given the title Feathers

Good for you. While I certainly can't say that I enjoy The Swan Princess, I don't want to be snarky. Variety is the spice of life

YES! This was my number 1 pick too! I mean, with the popularity of the movie musical in an up swing I think now would be the perfect time for such a project. It even already has a singular title name!

If not Aida, then maybe a film based on Cleopatra and Mark Antony's romance would be nice.

A thought I had once was for Disney to make an animated film about Walt. A good part of his life to make a film about would've been around the time he moved out to California with Roy. It's just a thought.

Odd that the poster says 1989 when Pocahontas wasn't released until 1995.

Still, if somebody made that movie as an ironic piece of filmmaking I'd go see it.

Swan Lake would be nice. I also would like Disney to tackle the Nutcracker. Both done in the style of Sleeping Beauty they could be gorgeous.

I'd love to see Don Quixote and The Nutcracker as well. Aida would be really cool, but I think you'd have to cut some of the songs (sacrilege, I know) because saving all of them would probably make for too long an animated feature.

I'd love to see an adaptation of Zorro. They could even add a Latina love interest and put her in the Princess line (ala Mulan).

I've also thought it'd be cool for Disney to do a Live Action/Animation mix movie where the two protagonists are voice actors whose animated characters are in love (so they have to be sweet to one another when working), but IRL, the two voice actors really dislike one another. Throughout the movie they can work out their differences and fall in love - kind of like a cross Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor and You've Got Mail.

And while I know it doesn't work this way in real life, I've always thought it'd be fun if the voice acting scenes were set up like the one in Mrs. Doubtfire where Robin Williams is doing voicework.

That squirrel was sad but would have gotten over it by then and I think a squirrel would rather stay who they are meant to be, a squirrel, with other squirrels. And King Arthur didn't get with a transformed squirrel in real life.

I also would love to see Rumpelstiltskin and Little Red Riding Hood. Hansel and Gretel too. Maybe they could find a way to weave all three stories into one? Or maybe it's time for another package film like The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. (If they could revive stop motion animation with The Nightmare Before Christmas, why not a package film?)

I would also love to see Prep & Landing get a feature length representation.

I noticed that too. I just thought that poster was amusing and hilarious. Not to mention the Nazi woman look like Helga Sinclair too.
