I guess it's that time again. Any word on a coupon yet?

Amazon had one earlier, but its gone now. No word on one from DMR yet. I think we may see something later in the week, if they do a coupon for this release.

Yeah, sometimes DMR will wait until the very last minute. I think the coupon for Alice in Wonderland (animated) came out like the Sunday before release day!

I already pre-ordered TFatH through Amazon, taking advantage of the $5 coupon they had, plus I had a $5 gift card. Hopefully this allows me to get the best price on this title, and if not, hopefully I have time to cancel the order before it ships! Usually, members at Blu-ray.com post the next weeks sale prices ahead of time, so I'll be able to find out before Sunday when the papers come out.

I pre-ordered on 5/9 and it was $27.99 at the time, but it has since dropped to $24.99. I'm hoping that it drops to $19.99 or less by release day (making it $14.99 after coupon).

With pre-orders on Amazon, you are guaranteed the lowest price the item sells for through release day, plus the $5 off coupon they offered.

I also have Dumbo, The Lion King 3D, and Cars 2 3D pre-ordered (all with Amazon coupons), just in case we either don't get DMR coupons or in-store prices are as great as they where with previous releases.

My copy did not come with any ads (I know, I was shocked!). The only thing it has is the DMR code and the tiny insert talking about Disney Blu-ray/Disney 3D Blu-ray.

Was hoping for a cheaper price than $24.99, plus no mention of a coupon in the Target ad. Maybe Best Buy will have something. If not I wish I had got in on the Amazon deal earlier.

While F&TH isn't really one of my favorite Disney films, I'm still excited that it's getting a Blu-Ray release. I've never seen the sequel, so I have no opinion of how good or bad it is, but I think some people are making way too big of a deal about the two films being released together. First, if you hate the sequel, all you have to do is not watch it. Second, the price of the set is $25, which is the same price that I've seen nearly ALL of Disney's Blu-Rays start at, so complaining that it will be more expensive because of including two movies is ridiculous.
As far as the aspect ratio, from the shots I've seen, there is more picture visible on the sides, so my guess is that Disney felt if the completely matted the picture to 1.78:1, people would say it felt too cramped.
My only complaint is on the cover, Copper looks kind of stoned.

Best Buy will have the combo for $22.99. So depending on the DMR coupon Amazon might be the best deal.

I'm sure Amazon will match Best Buy's price before it ships, and those that ordered early will still get the Amazon coupon.

gregmasciola, speaking for myself. My dissatisfaction comes from a Disney collector standpoint only. It has nothing to do with how much the set is or whether or not I plan on watching the 2nd film or not. Of course it's not a thing to loose sleep over, but as I do not like to support or want ANY of the DTV sequels in my personal Disney library, it feels like a little slap in the face that the only way I can get this movie in HD is with this tacky 2 movie collection. It lessons the value of the product in my eyes to have the DTV film on there. It also scares me that we might see something horrific like Hunchback sharing equal credit with it's dreadful sequel **shudders**

I wouldn't mind so much, if there was an option for customers to (even if it was online only) to order a single movie version for their Walt Disney Animation Studios canon library.

Don't get me wrong. I do understand why people don't want the sequel packaged with the original. I just think it's a little silly for some to actually boycott the release just because the cheapquel is included. Like I said, if I don't like it, all I have to do is not watch it.

I can also understand the disgust but at the same time, so what? You're getting the film on Blu-ray - that's the main point. You're not supporting future DTV releases as they have largely been phased out. (sequels/prequels/interquels/midquels have - spin-offs are still possible)

And as a collector, you know the history behind these films and why it shouldn't de-value the original film in your eyes. It was made years after the original on a smaller budget for direct to video release by a different team than the first. It's a B.S. release. It's not like it was another canon film that happened to be horrible.

To the layman parent who is buying this for the kids - having the sequel is only added value. Disney panders to the parents - whose kids may have been born in 2007 and now their kids are seeing this for the first time.

Disney Blu-ray isn't Criterion Collection.

And the price isn't higher, so in essence it's a free film.

It'd only de-value the original if they spliced it into the middle of the film and tried to make it all a seamless adventure.

Boycotting this release on the basis of it including the midquel is only going to hurt chances of other lesser-popular Disney canon films making it onto Blu.

I never expected a Criterion release, I just want something more than a (as you phrased it) B.S. release, and there aint nothin' wrong with voicing my criticism of said release.

Don't worry about it. There's nothing wrong with voicing your opinion. My post wasn't directed specifically at you (or even at the people in this one forum). I just don't see Disney deciding at some point to release the films individually, but you never know.
