Wow.

I'm not happy it's being packaged with the sequel. I can understand why Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 were packaged together, but I don't like this.

Another question- was this packet found in a Region A copy of Bambi?

Wasn't Fox and the Hound released recently? I feel like I purchased my copy about a year ago.. I don't necessarily know if I want to buy it again so soon. :o Especially with the sequel....

I hope this doesn't start a new marketing plan - releasing movies with their sequels. Thinking about purchasing Little Mermaid with the second and third sequel all at once makes my stomach turn. :brick:

It was last released in 2006 (maybe early 2007 for some places) to promote the sequel's release.

While I think packaging the film with the sequel is stupid (as much as I'm not a huge fan of the first film), it's nice to know that some mid-range titles are likely to pop up on Blu-Ray after all, and I'm also hoping that we'll get the original in its OAR (I did a quick comparison with a clip shown on a wide screen in the Illusion of Life special found on YouTube and a DVD rip, and the DVD does lose image).

I believe so, looking closer I see that it's a 3-Disc Package with Two DVDs, so unless I read it wrong it looks like TFATH2 will be DVD only or, god forbid they are on the same disc

Ughhh, I'd rather have Hercules on Blu-ray!!! Or atleast Pocahontas, Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Trazan or even Emperor's New Groove on Blu-ray.

Cant wait for it, i hope the picture they used for this is not going to be the actual blu cover, cause the cover it seems like it is lacking something, i dont know, but it just seems like its empty, and why cant they just call it "The Fox And The Hound : The Triolgy-2 Movie collection " rather than adding both Titles, not only does it make it look confusing & odd, but it seems like its hogging the space of the cover

Perhaps they will be on the same disc. :P

Nevertheless, I believe I'll be getting this. Good to know that TFatH will be getting a BD release as well. :)

Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed but it says "All New Bonus Feature" as in singular (feature) and not plural (features). So they'll just carry over some of the bonus material from the previous release and they'll add only one new extra? Talk about cheap!

It will be very interesting to see how well this set is put together as it could inidcate the treatment for other titles in the same time period (1968-1988).

While basically at the bottom of my personal DAC list I'm glad to see another title added to the Blu-ray release list this year and one that has never been given a really good quality transfer before.

^Yeah. I can only hope that this gets a very promising transfer on Blu-ray. So.... I'll wait till a review comes up to see if we'll be getting anything new in terms of picture and sound.

Wow, this is excellent news! I'm curious to see what kind of treatment it will get in terms of restoration; so far we have no reason to believe Disney won't give it their all as they have with all the previous DAC releases.

Not sure how I feel about it being packaged alongside the sequel, but we'll see. With Fantasia it made sense, seeing as though 2000 was actually a canon, theatrically-released sequel, but TFATH2 was direct-to-video. I've never seen the sequel so I don't know what the quality is like. :?

Either way, a welcome surprise and I am glad to see another classic coming to Blu-ray. I was wondering what the 2nd half of the year would look like in terms of releases, so now we can add this to the list! The Lion King was getting lonely.

With every release I am becoming less and less enchanted with how Disney is releasing their blu-rays. There are just so many little things with each release that bother me. The recent pop up "recommended bonus feature" during the credits is a HUGE turn off and the online only Fantasia supplements. The ONLY thing these have going for them is the picture quality of the actual films, which is the most important thing, yes, but putting 2 movies on 1 disc is just cheap, especially when one is a direct to video POS.

The sequel won't need to be restored to HD I assume? So they would put it on the blu-ray disc as well if it won't require much more work.

For myself, disc space isn't the point. I just have a serious problem with most of the DTV sequels in that they cheapen the theatrical films considerably and I do not want to support them in anyway shape or form. FatH isnt a favorite, so what really bothers me is this shit most likely will lead to something like all three Little Mermaid films on ONE blu-ray being the only way to get the first one in HD.

The sequel is SO BAD, I'm working on a really lengthy review of it right now deconstructing every scene from the beginning to end.

But Fox and the Hound Bluray is fantastic news.

The one single extra that is essential for the "Fox and the Hound" disc has somehow never made it to prior releases (to my awareness): The "Wonderful World of Disney" episode: "The Illusion of Life" (1980) - - not only does this very special episode (hosted by Hayley Mills) cross promote Frank and Ollie's masterful book on the art of animation and give us a tour of the (then) animation morgue, but it serves as the official TV promo show on the making of "The Fox and the Hound" with story reel and recording footage of Pearl Bailey, interviews with cast and crew and a segment on Glen Keane and the bear animation (also teases on "The Black Cauldron" which Hayley is auditioning for). It was included on a" WWoD" VHS tape, but never on DVD.

Lol  Speaking of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I wonder if we'll get a surprise with this film, since it is having an anniversary this year too (15). The Fox and the Hound on Blu-ray was a rumor, and now we know it's true, let's hope the same is true for Hunchback.
