Bane has been in the comic, a very layered and intellectual character in the comic. He's not a big strong dumb brute. He's actually very smart. Do you know of Bane aside from B&R? I will give you the mask being a touch that they will have to explain or do away with but for the most part Bane is an incredibly intelligent individual who just uses steroids as well as his mind... Of course, all those 'super-cheesy' villians I just mentioned all happened to be in Batman and Robin, which is hands-down the worst Batman film ever made (and one of the worst superhero films period). Maybe that 14-year old sour taste is still in my mouth?

If you watch the '90s animated series, both of these characters were done in a very un-cheesy way. Especially Freeze, who was extremely multi-layered and an almost sympathetic light. The whole "trying to keep his wife alive" plot was something that Paul Dini wrote into the animated series. THR says that sources have confirmed for them that Pence will appear in a flashback scene that takes place 30 years prior to the current movie.

I would agree with you and Siren with that. I love the emotional depth Arnold showed in regards to Mr. Freeze's wife. The problem with the character the way it was written certainly doesn't lie with Arnold. Only thing that the current batman movie I find lacking is the city/background. Doesn't give me a Gotham City like the one Burton or the animated series created. Interesting.....Talk about bringing a trilogy full circle. Variety is reporting that director Christopher Nolan has brought back Liam Neeson for The Dark Knight Rises. While Warner Bros. had no comment on the casting, Variety is speculating that Neeson will be reprising the villainous role of Ra’s al Ghul and has apparently already filmed a scene in London where the movie is currently shooting.
Earlier last month, cryptic photos popped up on various websites of what appeared to be The Lazarus Pit, commonly used by Ghul for their restorative powers. Josh Pence was cast as someone who is believed to be a young Ra’s al Ghul while fanboy speculation pegs Marion Cotillard’s character as Sarah Essen, which could be revealed as a cover for Talia al Ghul, who figured prominently in the comics.
