One question I have (someone has to being this up. lol) is what about it's aspect ratio? There have been issues over this before and the 25th Anniversary Edition is in full screen. Did we ever establish what the aspect ratio is supposed to be?

This release (being packaged with TFATH2) won't be AS BAD if they don't have the sequel being advertised on the cover or its title on the cover.. I wish they would treat it like a bonus feature to the original movie. Since I don't ever see this happening, at the very most, keep it at "Fox and the Hound: 30th Anniversary Edition 2-Movie Collection." Preferably without it even mentioned on the spine either.

Please, oh please, don't do this anymore Disney. :x

But man, have they sure stepped up the game for the Animated Classics on Blu-ray this year.. What's that now, 6 already announced for 2011? Alice, Bambi, Tangled, Dumbo, The Fox and the Hound, The Lion King.. And its only February too.

According to IMDB, the movie's negative aspect ratio is 1.37:1, though its ratio shown in theaters was 1.75:1, much like Disney's other post-Sleeping Beauty movies, I'm pretty sure.

Pressbooks instructed the film to be matted to 1.75:1, which means that previous DVDs were either open matte or a pan and scan job of the theatrical frame.

I wouldn't suprise me if the Blu-ray is 1.78:1.

There are always 2 Diamonds. Tangled was a foregone release. Dumbo has been released everywhere else.

So, they've really only added 2 movies to their schedule and 2 more should come in the form of Pocahontas and Pooh.

I don't mean to venture off-topic, but do we have a specific reason to believe we're getting Pocahontas in 2011? If so, it's news to me, as all I've heard rumors of was The Fox and the Hound (which proved to be true) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is celebrating it's 15th anniversary.

I'd be happy with whatever we get, I just wanted to know why Pocahontas is being mentioned because I hadn't heard anything up until now. :?

fall colors

Post by Refael »

I so love the fall colors last package just like the atmosphere of the film.
When I saw this movie in childhood I got it on videotape fall
So this movie always reminds me of the fall season - just like the packaging
But how do you think Blue Ray?
It looks beautiful, but there is no way in hell that will shape the same twice

It could be for Pocahontas a late 15th anniversary release. They've done late anniversary releases for other films before.

Personally I'd rather see THoND out first since that film has only had one DVD release ever.

It's because both The Fox and the Hound and Pocahontas are OOP and the re-release of The Fox and the Hound has been semi-announced, so folks just assume its coming this year. I hope so!

Yup. There are no Hunchback rumours whatsoever as then I could say Atlantis has its 10th anniversary this year. A rumour must have at least have some indication, half-truth or whatever, Hunchback and Hercules have been speculated on for years without anything solid to back it up.

The majority of Disney films go OOP before their re-release and the last releases have all followed this pattern, GMD, TBC, AIW, Dumbo etc

There are currently 3 non-Diamonds OOP at the moment, those which I mentioned, thus they can be rumoured Blu, and in the case of Fox, confirmed. Additionally for 2012, we all know Aladdin is due for release, 20th anniversary and being the biggest non-Diamond title they have.

Lilo & Stitch celebrates its 10th and whilst the US has not gone and made it OOP the UK have stripped it off shelves and is confirmed OOP. US only had released the forever delayed 2 disc edition in 2009 whereas everywhere had it for years so it makes sense it has disappeared first.

Anyway, whatever else that goes OOP this year can be considered potential releases. I'd keep an eye out for Rescuers + Down Under as the former celebrates its 35th anniversary next year and have only been released once.

Disney have never released a 15th anniversary. I would think that the "15th anniversary" films would all be special editions with potential to be released at any time; Pocahontas '10, Hunchback '11, Hercules '12, Mulan '13, Tarzan '14 and Groove '15. They are arguably the last popular Disney bunch outside of Lilo.

Which is still a 50% increase (atleast) from last year... I'd say thats pretty good.

Even though it's one of my all time favourites (I seem to be in the minority here), and I don't have it on DVD, much less Blu-ray, I'll pass. I'll just wait until there's an actually decent release of this movie.
Good luck waiting. This is probably your best chance until the next release, which may take five more years. I'll take my chances with the sequel.
I can wait. I've still got my good ol' VHS. 8)

Is the picture that Rafael posted the actual cover? I sure hope not.

lol, since when did this become a Diamond Edition!?! :P

No, Refael has been making cover arts for every new release thread that incorporates the previous DVD cover art and a version of the Diamond border.

I think that I'll be happy with any cover art they come up with as long as the logo for TFatH2 isn't on the cover. Hell, I'll even take the title slanted via Bambi's title.

First of all Disney better release it separately, second why does FATH 2 get a Blu-ray release date while Bambi II doesn't, and third couldn't Disney release Hercules or Hunchback on Blu-ray instead?

OMG! This on the Disney fan site.

Disney has never been evil. It has been a provider of family entertainment. This is its target audience.
