I noticed this when I got my copy (didn't know layer 2 was unaffected though) and posted a question on the Home Theater Forum Regional DVD forum (but got no answer, unsurprising when you consider what a ghetto that board isDVDTimes wrote:We're getting reports that the reissued UK and Australian release of Back to the Future III suffers from a new mastering issue. The new disc appears to suffer from poor picture quality during the playback from layer one of the disc. The screengrabs below illustrate this problem. We have included shots from the Region 1 release for comparison purposes.
I consider myself to be one of the main fighters in order to get the replacements offered to R2 purchases (10+ phone calls, 15+ emails - no answers to any - and lots letters and mails to DVD media companies and publications in the UK later) and what do we end up with - another botch job from Universal UK.
Sod them!
