I don't have a favorite, but I like both of Rapunzel's dresses, Giselle's dress from the "That's How You Know" scene, Ariel's dress from the "Kiss the Girl" scene, and Aurora's peasant dress. I was never a fan of the large gowns, but I do like Tiana's bayou wedding gown. The rest I never really cared for. I never thought they were really beautiful.
Well, I visited DisneyLand Resort Paris when it first opened, and Ariel was wearing her blue 'Tour Of The Kingdom' outfit when out in the park, and in her parade float as well. Same goes for Belle. Though I must admit I can't remember seein the other Princesses at all, let alone what clothes they were wearing ...... I was only four at the time !Wonderlicious wrote:I wish that they'd put the princesses in their simple dresses out in the Disney theme parks. Considering that they have Aladdin in both street rat and Prince Ali costumes, and that Mary Poppins and Bert (at least traditionally) had Jolly Holiday costumes for summer and spring and regular London-town costumes for autumn and winter, it would be nice to see the princesses out in the Disney theme parks in their simple costumes (I know they do/did that for Belle).

I have a picture, if anyone would care for me to post ?

I saw a video of some parades where they had Ariel in the "Kiss the Girl" scene, but never knew she ever walked around the parks like that! It's basically better than the mint green dress she seems to wear now (it never appeared in the movie). I know that Belle did and sometimes still does come out in the village dress, and it seems, along with many of the princess' casual dresses, more apt a dress to wear in colder months as opposed to the modified winter gown (which in Belle's case just makes her look like an egg yolk). Yet the popularity of the Disney Princess stuff and the fact that everyone now imagines Disney girls wearing anything other than diamond-encrusted and regal probably means that we won't.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Well, I visited DisneyLand Resort Paris when it first opened, and Ariel was wearing her blue 'Tour Of The Kingdom' outfit when out in the park, and in her parade float as well. Erm, just the fact that I'd like a girlfriend who's pretty but doesn't seem so out-of-reach?Goliath wrote:Is there something you would like to share with us?

I voted Eilonwy, just for the heck of it. Since I'm not a dress kind of girl to begin with, I'm not a great judge of dresses, and hers seems just as valid as any others. Plus, it seems kind of practical to go tramping about Prydain in. Only thing is, it's pink.
If I didn't feel so sorry for Eilonwy, I'd probably vote Belle (for her blue dress) or Ariel (for her touring blue dress). They look more comfortable than the puffy, more "princessy" dresses.

The Prettiest Princess Dress
My favorite, if it wasn't obvious, is Cinderella's. The three centered pleats, the long puffs symetrically on the side, the not-too puffy sleeves pointing high, the silver color shining with sparkles...perfect.
Aurora's is a very close second to me. Hey, it is supposed to be the most beautiful film, and that thing has so many angles and pleats and points.
Then, maybe my third is Belle's. All those ripples, and the trim hanging by pearls all the way around.
But Tiana's...everyone says it's the most inventive, well here's the thing. One, it was made to be fit for a frog princess. It's not exactly something you'd wear anywhere else besides a bayou frog wedding! And two, inventive to me is coming up with unique, original ideas. And it does have some, but the majority of it owes itself to lilypads + dress. The others caem up with original designs with nothing like lilypads to base it off. I mean, just what are those kinds of peplums Aurora or Cinderella have? Disney invention!
Wonderlicious reminded me I also love Cinderella's ripped dress. There's seriously something great about that one that it's prettier than before it was tried to be made un-pretty!
Atlantica, I want to see that Ariel picture! If only you also had one of Belle in peasant dess, too!

What?! I disagree completely, and I think almost everyone else does, too! Maybe if they fixed a few things it would be...okay?!eralkfang wrote:Tiana's Renaissance costume; she just looks so lovely in it.

I thought it was an okay design. It was a costume, not something she would normally wear. I'm not sure exactly what they could "fix" when it's supposed to look that way.

Listening to most often lately:

Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

As a design, I really like the high waist, the tiered skirts, the slit sleeves, and the little veiled cap—along with the earrings, it really enhances the shape of Tiana's face and the line of her neck. While I think the color could be a bit better, she's also a caterer working an event—she's indulging Charlotte but still trying to be unobtrusive. And I think, when compared to the traditional princess dress—the silhouette Charlotte's wearing in this scene—it's quite a refreshing outfit. It also moves really well with her, but then, I've always liked veils and long hair on women.
What don't you like about it—I'm honestly curious, I swear! Is it the color, the shape?[/img]

Oooh, I should also mention animated Giselle's pink dress, just because I love the Art Nouveau/Mucha inspiration, and the dress she wears when she goes shopping. I've never been quite as fond of the "That's How You Know" dress.
Can we also talk about Giselle's hair? It's sort of part of her costume...

Re: The Prettiest Princess Dress
Heh heh, I never really thought about it before but design-wise that's pretty close to what I came up with for my wedding dress! Empire waist trimmed with ribbon, tiered skirt/dress, sleeves slit at the elbow, and of course a veil. But I had a different color scheme going on.eralkfang wrote:

Re: The Prettiest Princess Dress
The reason people don't like Aurora in pink is because she was mostly seen in blue, and it seems more like her color, especially as it looks better on her. And Cinderella's dress is alwasy silver, but it does reflect blue color in some shots, or gets covered in blue shadow, rather.
Ariel's pink dress is often not considered good because it's too poofy, has too much, and the number one reason, because it's pink and people think it clashes with her hair. If they make it the right shade of pink, though, I think it can be pretty seen as simply a lighter shade of her hair. Or maybe if it was a more purple pink. But I think it's supposed to represent blossoming young love and it's beginning stages, so...
eralkfang, I like parts of the Tiana's renaissance dress, but on the whole, I think I dislike it because it looks like a bunch of different colored cuts of fabric pieced together. It feels like slices of material sewn together. It also makes me wonder, is she a princess or a peasant? Her hat and the sleeves say princessesque to me, but the bodice and string tied around her waste makes me think peasant. They just could have made it a prettier design, and you do realize the dress isn't supposed to be very pretty (so that we gasp when we see her looking much better in her blue dress). The idea is she doesn't care about being pretty. But Disney audiences and fans will be damned if they don't! And yes, the colors are rather gross, too. If it looked more like gold and red/purple, it might be rather lovely, but it's more likes shades of brown.
