hi, thanks 4 the german titles............ anyway, I speak (I try to) german, and when I was inAustria I saw tlk (Konig der Lowen), ti was great..........

I've been learning German 4 years now. It's not difficult, but I doesn't like what the German do with films on TV. It's always German. Never the original language. In Holland we do that only with animation/kids movies.

Here you find a list of Dutch titles:

Brother Bear and Finding Nemo haven't a translation. Brother Bear could be 'Broertje Beer' and Finding Nemo could be 'Op Zoek Naar Nemo' (Searching for Nemo).

are you referring to titles or dubbing?

here in italy we do the same!!!!!!! for us is quite normal to say our television in our language, so that everybody can understand! I've seen the same on french television...... but perhaps I misunderstood.......

In Holland we always have the original voices with Dutch subtitles. Only in animation films we have Dutch voices. Why aren't there Italian subtitles? You do want to heat the original voices, or not?

no, definetly not..... here we have a high level dubbing school, it's considered as the best, actually...... for us it's quite normal, and I think that if it was not like that, nobody (especially old people) would watch tv....
Only mtv has particular shows like the osbourne, who are in o.v with no subtitles, and other like "the real world" also in o.v but with subtitles......
but if you want you can have original voices in dvds, of course...........
moreover, in Europe more than one country use dubbing instead of subtitles................
you do not agree????????

I Know Germany does it and France too. On holiday I saw that. The quality of the German dubbing is in my opinion very bad. Which other countries then Germany, France and Italy do the same?

A quick look at the early Disney DVDs (like this http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7000000055959) indicates the following soundtracks

Dolby Digital 5.1: English, French, Italian.
Dolby Surround: Dutch, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, German.

so that seems to answer your question on dubbing! All of the available eight soundtracks are used!

here in germany every film is dubbed. I don't like that too but the quality of the dubbing isn't bad.

I make, if I can, some some comments on the titles I just read.............
I think that in some countries there's a tendence of non-translating, or re translating, in fact we have more than one release with new titles, and in most European countries, some titles are translated in the same way, I mean, if we think to "the Black cauldron" we have the same readapted translation in italy "Taron e la pentola magica" germany "Taron und das Zauberkessel", Spain (I don't remember the exact title, but there's something like "Tàron e la pentùla magica".. forgive me if I made a mistake, and forgive me 4 mistreating spanish), and so on. "Black has been transformated into "Magic", and there's always "Taron and".. another title with the same treatment (Not in tne medical sense) is "Finding Nemo". In most of the posts I read, the verb "to find" has been changed into "Look 4". In italy we have "alla ricerca di Nemo "Loking 4 Nemo", in Spain we have "Buscando a Nemo"..............
sorry if I've been a bit boring, but I find things like that quite interesting...........

the brazilian and the mexican dubbing are pretty good in my opinion.
It always are in dolby digital 5.1

Here in Russia we always have dubbing, very stupid once usually, and the main reason people buy DVDs is to listen to original voices.

When 'Simba's Pride' was released, it had two different version of name: 'Gordost Simbi' - 'something Simba is proud of' and 'Semia Simbi' - 'Simba's family', because the transtlators couldn't guess the meaning of 'pride' in this case.

Here in Brazil, it happened the same thing. When they where advertising the film on the videos, they called it "O Orgulho de Simba" (something Simba is proud of), but when they released it, they called it "O Reino de Simba" (something like "Simba's Kingdom").

Even now that the name "O Reino de simba" is considered the "oficial", the "correct", the trailers on the dvds for the SE in july 7th, are calling the movie of "O Orgulho de simba"...

I speak a bit of French, so here are some French Disney titles translated directly into English. Guess what they are really yourself-

La Belle au bois dormant- The Beautiful One in the Sleeping Wood

Alice au pays de mervilles- Alice in the country of miracles (sounds like some religious persuasion video to me)
