I was thinking they could release possibly when Tangled hits Blu ray next year but I doubt it...then again....Disney Marketing is hard to comprehend these days :roll: :P

Thanks, yeah, I thought I remembered something like that. If I see that edition on sale ever, I'll pick it up. Otherwise, I can hold out a while longer. I haven't even really seen the Princess Diaries movies, so I'm not in a rush to get them except to add more titles to my Disney collection. Curious to finally see it though.

I didn't get Princess Diaries because it said it was fullscreen on the back. I'm pretty sure there's a better one out there with the widescreen, isn't there? Anyway, it's one I expect to get a Blu-Ray release sometime soon.
If you have a ROSS store near by go and check there because that's where my sister bought The Princess Diaries: 2-Disc Special Edition for $4.99.

About 2 weeks ago. I also saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Collector's Edition.

Live action films have been in the 2 for 10 bin for years.
Fascinating, I have never seen 2 for 15 or 2 for 10 bins at a Wal-Mart. Maybe it's a Canada thing? I do know that the quality of DVDs from Canada do seem to be cheaper, so maybe that ha something to do with it. Our local Wallgreens got a bunch of Canadian DVDs for a while (they had the titles on the case in both English and French). I bought a few, and one was DIsney's Pooh's Grand Adventure. I ended up returning it because it wouldn't play on my DVD players because it read like a DVD-R or a dollar DVD rather than like a regular DVD. I also noticed the packaging of some of the Canadian DVDs, like the inserts, seemed lower quality, like the Valiant one I also considered buying.
I don't think so. I have plenty of DVDs that come from the states that are no higher quality than we have here. Region 1 is both US and Canada so there should be no difference.

Also most DVDs in Canada don't have both the English and French title on the cases. I'm looking at my collection right now and I only see bilingual titles on WB DVDs. The only place you really get all releases like that is in Quebec or Maritime/Ontario cities with a high french speaking population.

Also what is Walgreens?

Well, these DVDs were from Canada or thereabouts, and they were of cheaper materials at the very least and had trouble playing, no question about that (and they had the titles in both English and French on the covers, so maybe they were for or from the areas you mentioned). Anyways, Wallgreen's is like the Wal-Mart of Drugstores/Convenient Stores here. There is one on nearly every corner. They're small stores that have a pharmacy and also a small collection of basic stuff (like household items, non-perishable grocery items and a tiny bit of milk/dairy/frozen, magazines and cards, small sections of toys, stationary, and stuff like that). It's like the place you go for quick necessities when you don't want to deal with a big place like Wal-Mart, though you have to hope they have what you need and the prices aren't too good. They often have a small DVD section that sometimes has bargain prices.

So, it's like Shopper's Drug Mart, then. :lol:

The other Canadian posters will understand it, but your description of Walgreen's pretty much spot-on describes a Canadian chain of stores called Shopper's Drug Mart. Interesting enough, they have been selling some of the Pixar titles as well as The Muppet Movie, Tarzan and Brother Bear for about $17 each for a number of weeks now.

slave2moonlight wrote:HOWEVER, I did just see a new end-cap display at Wal-Mart yesterday that I plan to go back to today and maybe pick a flick or two from. It was a Disney 6.00 display, which is still the cheapest I've seen Disney films at Wal-Mart (aside from Other Side of Heaven). Unfortunately, they didn't have any "haven't seen them on shelves in a while" DVDs yet again, but at least they did have around 3 I still need. Money's tight right now, so I don't know if I'll get them all. Hopefully, the display will be around for a while. But, I hope to at least get the Lohan Freaky Friday today. The other two I still need that they had for 6 were "Where the Red Fern Grows" and "Princess Diaries". Though, I know as soon as I get the Princess Diaries, it'll be announced for Blu-Ray. Anyway, the other titles they had that I can remember (and already owned) were 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the original Freaky Friday, Benji the Hunted, That Darn Cat (original), Inspector Gadget, Pollyanna (I think), Swiss Family Robinson (again, I think), some Herbie movies (I forget if it was all of them), and, well, I just can't remember. It was quite a nice variety of titles, but ones they have had for a while now at 7.99 or so and up, and like I said, only three that I still needed to get. I hope we will soon see them put out some of those titles that haven't been on shelves lately.
I noticed the same $6 display at my walmart in Frederick, Maryland. I wrote down all the movies so I could tell my cousin them. Here they are:

*The Parent Trap (Remake)
*Freaky Friday (Original and Lohan Remake)
*The Love Bug
*Herbie Rides Again
*Benji, The Hunted
*Old Yeller/Old Yeller the Sequal Savage Sam
*That Darn Cat
*The Cat from Outter Space
*Where the Red Fern Grows
*Princess Diaries
*Inspector Gadget (Remake)
*In Search of the Castaways
*Treasure Island
*20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
*Darby O'Gill and the Little People
*The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
*Summer Magic
*Flight of the Navigator
*The Black Hole

My wife saw the same thing at a Wal Mart in Richland, WA.

Let us know if it's going on there. I'm interested to see how widespread this is.

They actually have Tower of Terror? The only place I've seen it was in the Tower of Terror gift shop in California Adventure. Hopefully it will show up here. Would like to add it to my library. Would've been great to watch it as part of my Halloween moviethon.

I was at Walmart on Sept 9th (I know a little bit ago) but came across a display that had some Older Disney movies on it. I was able to get:

*The Cat from Outter Space [Came with DMR Points] --> $8
*The Three Lives of Thomasina --> $8
*Cheetah --> $8
*Napoleon & Samantha --> $8
*The Shaggy Dog (1959) / The Shaggy D.A. (1976) 2-DVD Set [Came with DMR Points]--> $8

I hope that helps anyone else.
