Wait, so the US is the only country not getting Dumbo this year? WTF are they thinking?
Also, why is Fantasia delayed until December? The only reasons I want to hear is they're making it uncut and still working on the restoration. Any other excuse is unacceptable.
The only Disney titles I plan on buying now all come out at the end of the year or next year. This is extremely disappointing.

I agree, I was hoping the "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000" Diamond Editions would come in May. Now I'm worried about "The Black Cauldron" Special Edition and what's going to happen with that.jpanimation wrote:Wait, so the US is the only country not getting Dumbo this year? WTF are they thinking?

Well, technically Dumbo's 70th is next year. Meanwhile, I'm calling it import! And Fantasia at Christmas!? What ARE THEY THINKING!? The Diamonds are SUPPOSED to be SEMI_ANNUAL not just ANNUAL.
Well, there's that rumor of Alice that's still floating around.

Edit: This is as disappointing and badly-timed as when Warner announced the delay of Harry Potter 6. They had a teaser out, and were only 3 months from the original date. Now, we have Dumbo's delay, being announced weeks before it's release.

You're right, but this confuses me because:ajmrowland wrote:Well, technically Dumbo's 70th is next year. Meanwhile, I'm calling it import! And Fantasia at Christmas!? What ARE THEY THINKING!? The Diamonds are SUPPOSED to be SEMI_ANNUAL not just ANNUAL.

"Lady and the Tramp" 50th Anniversary Edition: Released in February 2006 rather than June/July 2005.
"Pinocchio" 70th Anniversary Edition: Released in March 2009 rather than now.
I guess they realized their mistakes and they don't want to get it wrong with the new "Dumbo" Blu-Ray.

If that's the reason that they want it to be an accurate year release date and clearly in the past this hasn't been an issue....with Disney at Least....Laday the tramp being 49 when released yet dubbed the 50th anniversary and Pinocchio was only 69 (please no cruel puns or wise jokes) when it is labeled 70....this even goes back to Sleeping Beauty and Jungle Book and several othersOstrum-Safari1992 wrote:You're right, but this confuses me because:ajmrowland wrote:Well, technically Dumbo's 70th is next year. My question is...of all the times Disney has released a flim a year prior to its release date why is it now they decide to get it right....this is most upsetting seeing how Mexico already has copies of it....and I might just import it because I want My Dumbo is High deff sooner then 2011....
and I guess TPATF is being released in March and that's why were not getting any DAS on Blu Ray which makes no sense to me but hey it Disney...they take the action of being Random to a whole new level

Definitely. I think if Princess and The Frog had made more money domestically then they wouldn't be re-scheduling Dumbo to shift more focus on Blu and DVD sales of P&TF...Stats87 wrote:I definitely think the March release of "Princess and the Frog" played a part in the delay, then they have two "Diamond Editions" releasing near the end of 2010.
It's a shame, I was really looking forward to upgrading my 60th Anniversary Edition. Guess I'm waiting another year.
And yes, where can I import the Mexican edition of Dumbo in Hi-Def? I really regret not seeing the restoration at the El Capitan now.

iam holding out hope that the uk version is region free.
are there any forum members in the uk who chime in on if the disney blurays for Pinnochio, Snow White or Sleeping Beauty were region free or if they were region B only

Disney, you're just making all the right decisions in keeping your fans happy lately, aren't you? Once again, you screwed up.
Oh, well. It's not the first time this has happened. It won't be the last.
I'd just like to know their reasoning, probably something stupid like- "The BD market isn't wide enough for a non-Diamond 1940s release in America yet..."

I was really hoping to get this and now my hopes are dashed.
this is one of the few I don't have on DVD yet and I really wanted it.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Figures. I sold off my dvd of Dumbo (along with Black Cauldron, both Fantasias, both Toy Stories & Great Mouse Detective) in anticipation of the new dvds or blu rays. As always happens when I do that Disney cancels everything.
Well, I can do without until they all are finally released. With about 800 dvds & 15 blu rays I can keep busy until Disney gets its act together. I will not rebuy any of them until the new editions come out.
