I loved the movie. I would say it's up there with 4 and 5 as my favorites. My only real complaint was that they cut the battle that's going on inside the school during the end. Usually, movies like this (such as Lord of the Rings or Narnia) add a lot more action scenes or greatly enhance existing ones so I was shocked that the movie actually cut out a big battle. It's one of my favorite parts of all the books and really ups the ante on how dangerous things have become.

They didn't want to foreshadow the battle in DH too much.I do wish they included more of the ending that is in the movie.

Also, "Dumbledore keeps the school safe". Sound familiar?

I liked it a lot. I'd definitely rank it near the top of the bunch and consider it a definite improvement over the previous movie. More reliance on characters and ideas, less on action is fine with me. And for once I didn't feel like I was missing things merely hinted at from the book. Jim Broadbent was brilliant. Every scene with him in it excelled. Sad that this is the last full movie. At least it's a high note. One of the best films I've seen so far this year.

Just a advise for all who are planning to watchi it on IMAX 3D:

The start sequence is just incredible on 3D, the death eaters seems to get out from the screen, the clouds at the start and the scene of Harry, Slughorn and Dumbledore at the start is gorgeous...

And that's it what's on 3D...so if you aren't really that excited for the movie or don't have an IMAX screen near...just avoid it

On Monday I've been in cinemas twice, first watching HBP in English, then in German with the 3D-opening (because the cinema didn't play the movie in English and 3D, duh).

I liked the English version better, I think, than the German synchro (one thing that bugged me with the German synchro is that Slughorn said he didn't teach Sirius, when he clearly did - in the English version he said quite truthfully, that he'd wanted Sirius in "his collection").

Overall I was very pleased with the movie, and, although having spent about 5 hours in cinema, I didn't feel bored one minute.

One thing, that I didn't like that much was the Sectumsempra scene. I loved the setup with Draco crying, the action, the duel - but when Harry screamed "Sectumsempra" and Draco lay on the floor - why didn't Harry do something? What I want to say, he NEVER wanted to kill anyone, not even in DH, so WHY doesn't he do anything? And suddenly there's Snape, we don't know why he's there, he doesn't say anything to Harry, and Harry just goes. It's just... it was weird..

The 3D opening was really spectacular, alhtough it was over way too soon (and I didn't like the red signs that appeared on bottom of the movie screen when one had to take down the glasses).

I am really upset that Emma Thompson and thus her character will no longer be in the Potter movies. I know people deem Trelawney useless, but good grief, I love the character and actress both so much... odd for a "Slytherin with large streaks of Ravenclaw", aren't I?

I still find it strange that she's not returning. Nanny McPhee is due for release Spring of next year. While both parts of Deathly Hallows are being filmed simultaneously and out of order, they're still going to be filming stuff for part II throughout next year. Can't she make room for a single day of filming? It's not like she even needs to be in more than one scene. Just a shot or two or her throwing crystal balls at the Death Eaters during the final battle would suffice. That's all she does in the book, anyway, and it's not like it's necessary to have her in the crowd when Hagrid approaches the castle with Harry's body as Voldemort gloats. I know it's a seemingly throwaway bit, but I just want as many characters to return as possible, even if they're just cameos (ala Madame Pomfrey in Half-Blood Prince).

She was never confirmed. At all. I've been trying to find the piece that told me she wasn't in the movie. In the end, I couldn't find it, but I do have a cast list of all the CONFIRMED actors for Deathly Hollows.

Don't go brushing it off a "subjective". The site is much more well-informed on these films than most fans are.

And many of them do say "waiting for confirmation" but they've either already been confirmed, or are obviously in the movie, anyway.

ajmrowland, Mugglenet's movie info is not up-to-date. Miranda confirmed in an interview a couple of months ago that, if asked, she would do Deathly Hallows in a heartbeat. The thing is Rita Skeeter isn't in DH physically. She is mentioned and things she has written are in the book, but there is no scene with Rita there personally, so there is no need for her to be in the movie. Maybe some voice-over work while Harry is reading her interviews and book, but that's about it.
