Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince Thread (SPOILERS)
So, Harry Potter numero 6 is right around the corner. About three and a half months away. The offical trailer is being released tonight on aol.com
Is anyone else majorly excited? I am! This is one of my most anticipated movies of 2008. This really is where it starts to get VERY dark in the series, and so many things happen.
SPOILERS
1. Harry/Ginny. Uhm, I CANNOT wait for it!
2. Dumbledore=dead. I think I'll cry.
3. Horcruxes/Cave scene. So excited!
This is going to be one thrill ride, and I know I'll be seeing it multiple times in theatres. Post away!

Like I have been for the past five films, I'm extremely excited for this! I'm also excited for the trailer to be released tonight (less than an hour)! And just so much! Mostly, I'm looking forward to:
*All the Harry & Dumbledore scenes (Gambon looks 10X better in this movie! His beard & hair look so good!)
*All the added Bellatrix & Death Eater stuff (Bring on more HBC!)
*Broadbent as Slughorn (even though Bob Hosking would have been perfect, Broadbent's a fine actor)
*The ending/Tower Scene (It's going to be ah-mazing!)
And so much else!

That. was. freaking. fantastic.
This feels so different from the previous five, and I mean that in a good way. The cinematography in particular is very sophisticated, and I hope this means David Yates has restrained himself in the editing room. The actor chosen play to Tom is pitch perfect. Not only is he suitably creepy, but he looks quite a bit like Christian Coulson, who played Tom in Chamber of Secrets. The shot with Dumbledore in the protective ring of fire was amazing, and the exchange between him and Harry at the end gives me chills. Gaaaaahh...
(Veruca Salt voice) Daddy, I want to see Half-Blood Prince NOW.

Absolutely freaking brilliant!!! It seems like the movie will have the right mood and tone and Gambon's Dumbledore seems to be really awesome, finally. I always liked Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore, but his costume design sucked, thus distracting from his performance. The only thing I didn't like about his performance was that he didn't seem "happy" or light enough, something that the Dumbledore from the books is.
That shot in the fire ring made me really excited for the movie. HBP has such a strong ending and I hope Yates went for the really dark tone that the book has and I am also excited about Harry/Ginny and the end battle.
Very good trailer and the little Fiennes boy is a perfect choice for young Tom Riddle. He is a innocent looking child to really send the chills down your spine when he speaks and demands that Dumbledore prove that he is a wizard.

It was too short! And I don't know if it was a trailer so much as a clip of the memory where Dumbledore meets the 11 year old Riddle with a few extra scenes spliced in. It was awesome though and the first time I have ever been pleased with Gambon as Dumbledore.
Don't get me wrong, Michael Gambon is a fine actor, but I don't think he made the best Dumbldore possible. He always seems so angry and when he took over for the late Richard Harris they changed Dumbledore's appearance too much. I also think it would benifit him to actually read the books (though at this time is there any point to it. Dumbledore only appears like four or five times in Deathly Hallows).
Overall I'm pleased, but craving more.

That was a really great trailer.
-I love how the memories are in grayscale and show less color as possible.
-Tom Riddle as a kid is so perfect: innocent looking, yet creepy.
-The Inferi scene had such great camerawork!
-The music when Tom Riddle is introduced is a work from John Williams on the third soundtrack, I hope the music in this movie is just as good.
-I don't remember Ron lying on the floor, unconscious.

I reread the whole series in 6 days over my last Spring break. I might just reread number 6 again just to remember exactly what happened before I go into the theater. Can't wait!

This is what I want them to keep in:
SPOILERS, but, I'm sure everyone knows.
Well, I want them to get rid of the first chapter. I hated it.
Keep in Spinner's End. I want as much Bella/Narcissa as possible.
They NEED to play the whole Harry/Ginny thing out exactly as it was in the book. With the little hints and things like that.
The cave scene, exactly like it was in the book.
Dumbledore's funeral, with Fawkes flying at the end of it.
Qudditch, but that's already been confirmed with the costumes.
Tonks/Lupin.
Hopefully Bill/Fleur, but I doubt it.

I would advise not doing that right before you see the movie. I did that back with PoA, and it makes what they left out very obvious. So, unless you want the omissions to be glaringly obvious, I wouldn't.TheSequelOfDisney wrote:PeterPanfan wrote:Does anyone else feel a sudden urge to reread the series? I do, haha.

First Chapter has been cut, though around the middle of the movie there is a scene showing the hurricane and the bridge collapse that Fudge describes to the Minister. Rufus Scrimgeour does not appear in the movie.
There is actually MORE Bellatrix in the movie than in the book thanks to added scene where she and Greyback attack the Burrow.
I have no idea how the Harry/Ginny thing happens, but they apparently are a couple by Christmas time in the movie.
The cave scene has been altered at least in appearance since the island holding the horcrux is visibly different than how it is described in the book in yesterday's trailer.
Dumbeldore's funeral is NOT in the movie, though the white tomb does appear in the final scene. (Note this is just a rumor I've heard, but all evidence seems to point this way)
Quidditch is in the movie, and so is Luna's commentary.
Tonks and Lupin are already an established couple when they first appear in the movie. There is no build up to it.
Bill and Fleur do not appear, but will be in Deathly Hallows. Ron apparently mentions their engagement at some point in the film.
Let's hope this one to be more faithful to the book

I don't know, the island certainly looks a little different, and as far as I recall the only scene of Ron in the ground that I can remember is the one when Harry, Ron and Slughorn are drinking a poisoned bottle

Maybe Yates will just have a scene with his tomb but only Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Hagrid will be there. Actually, I think it will be a lot better if everyone isn't there so it will feel more personal because only the few will be present.Widdi wrote:Dumbeldore's funeral is NOT in the movie, though the white tomb does appear in the final scene. This is my favourite book so I hope Yates does not screw it up the way he did OOTP. That said the bit with the vials was wonderful but I'm not sure if I like the little Fiennes-Tiffin kid as Tom we will have to see. Also I don't like the look of young Dumbledore. Dispute my lack of enthusiam for this teaser (truth be told I was more intersting in the one line IMAX teaser) I still can not wait for the film.
