I really hope that is not the final artwork. It's really horrible. It was fine for the poster art, but this is just bad.

How is artwork fine for a poster advertising the movie in theatres, but then it becomes horrible when it's later used as a DVD cover? Sure, there's the argument of "they're being lazy, give us something new!" but really, if it was considered good enough to be used to hook people to see the movie in theatres...surely it could do the same on home video?

(Of course, I don't care either way, I'd still get the movie if it were packaged in a paper bag with the name scrawled on in crayon)

It's actually the font of the packaging that turned me off.

Just about 3 months to go! Argh.
I have pre-ordered and everything to go, just needs to come out already. :D

I like the concept, but it probably would've worked better if there were different images in each letter, rather than just one large picture of Chris Pine (though I don't think many would complain about that!)

Ah, yes. I like this cover much much better. :D
I just canceled my DVD pre-order and just pre-ordered the BluRay instead since I just got a PS3. :D
Sooo excited for Blu-Ray.

I think the artwork is a bit of an improvement over the working art, but it's not really saying much. The movie was good, however, so it will make up for the artwork.

I saw the picture for the Blu-Ray gift set on this thread and thought it looked kind of cool (that is, until I saw the price  .)

November is looking to be quite a busy month :) .

Terrible artwork for the 2-disc artwork. The original art was better, even though most of it was blown out white (and the font for the "2-Disc Digital Copy Edition" was way too big). Photoshopping Chris Pine's ginormous head on the front was a bad idea.

The single-disc artwork looks awkward, but at least it has Quinto and Saldana on the artwork in addition to Pine. I've grown less fond of 2-disc editions (save for Criterions) as of lately. I'm pretty happy with sticking with the movie, the commentary, gag reel and featurette on the less expensive package.

Blu-Ray Review from TheDigitalBits

Film Rating: A
Video (1-20): 19.5
Audio (1-20): 19.5
Extras: A

Can't wait for November 17!

Also, the UD front page mentions that the single-disc DVD is currently $10 on Amazon!

I'll definitely be picking this one up. It was the most fun movie this summer and the only one I saw twice.

Hmm...any chance of this movie coming in a Blu Ray/DVD combo pack?...I'm guessing not. I'm probably gonna get this movie for my dad for Christmas but I dunno which one to get.

Still dont know if we'll have a Blu Ray player by then. :P

Unfortunately, no. It's just the single-disc DVD, the two-disc DVD, the three-disc Blu-Ray (2 BDs, 1 DC), and other versions of the Blu-Ray (the Best Buy one, the Amazon one).

What's the Best Buy version? I'm an exclusives whore and haven't heard about that yet.
