I think it's just because we haven't had a good enough re-release of Hercules since VHS died to support this release onto DVD. Usually when those other films were released onto DVD the original film released with or right before it to support it's release, easily giving Disney a few more bucks. I'm not too sure but I think that when Hercules was put on DVD the first time it was still in DVD's infancy and Zero to Hero was just released to VHS. Maybe when we do get a new version of Hercules we'll finally get this on DVD. I've also been waiting for this release. A new release of Hercules might not be too far away. I was in Target yesterday and I noticed that Herc was now marked down to only $10, it had been marked down to $13 for the past few months. I'm suspecting Disney's trying to get it off the shelf.
Zero To Hero was actually one of my favourite spinoff/sequel/prequel/compilations...
Maybe next time they release Hercules they will release it as a bonus feature or a companion or something. One can hope, yeah ?
It also raises a question though. It seems to be the only DTV sequel that hasn't been released to DVD... and we all know that the original Hercules hasn't been treated very well on DVD... Is there something that is preventing them from releasing these titles ? Was there ever a controversy around them or anything ? I can see no other reason as to why they wouldn't release them.
In any event it is annoying and I hope this gets a release (other than VHS) soon.

Hercules: Zero to Hero (DTV Film)
Have you ever watched this film? I haven't since this was only released on VHS. I don't understand why they never released it on DVD. Yes, the film is practically unknown, but Disney has released more obscure titles on DVD before. I'd love to see Megara on film again since she was not featured in the series.

I saw it....when it came to video....I don't have the video anymore but mainly it was equivalent to Tarzan and Jane DTV with 3 stories from Hercules the animated Series.....and some cutscenes with new animation...like Meg and Phil going through Hercules' Year Book.....I wouldn't mind for it to come to DVD just for the fact that I would like a few of the episodes of Hercules to watch on DVD or at all for that matter...

I remember when it came out, but I couldn't convince my parents to buy it (I was nine at the time). I always enjoyed the series, even though it doesn't mesh well with the movie. And the extra Meg time is a plus.
And Meg actually does appear in the series for at least one episode, don't know if you already knew that or not. She and Hercules meet, but by the episode's end they forget one another due to a memory-loss potion. It's been a while since I've seen the series, so I can't remember all the details. Damn Disney, not releasing their TV shows.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"
Yup, I've seen it... It's an okay flick, though most of its strength comes from the episodes featured - the one with Theseus in particular.
As for the interstitial Hercules/Meg segments, be prepared for a disappointment: it's the worst piece of animation Disney has ever produced and I'm not exaggerating at all. Ew. Just thinking about it makes me wince.
Btw, I love your new avatar, sotiris!

I'd rather see it as a television pilot, instead of a DTV film. I mean DTV has become such an awful term around here, as it should.
I tend to like the television shows a lot more than the DTV's, mostly because I don't expect them to be the same quality as the original movie.
However they've never shown the television series in my country (I think), so naturally I haven't actually seen this either.

Ha! Yet another Dutchie on UD! Welcome! Yes, Hercules, the series, was shown in The Netherlands in its entirity on Net 5 and SBS 6 in 'Disney Feest' and has also aired on Belgian tv in 'Disney Festival'. There's also a DVD available with episodes from this series, combined with episodes from the Tarzan-series. (Which was awful.)Duckburger wrote:However they've never shown the television series in my country (I think), so naturally I haven't actually seen this either.
Yes, that was a fantastic episode. It was so well handled you never doubt the possibilities of the two universes existing in the same century (though I am sure they took many liberties since its, well, Disney).Siren wrote:I never saw the DTV, but I loved the episode of Hercules with Aladdin. Watching Jafar and Hades work together was just fantastic!
